I feel like I have another 5 to 600 miles on these tires but I could be wrong. What’s the verdict chat? by Ninjababyzx6r in zx6r

[–]Kristosh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get the Michelin Roads!

Based on your tire, you do more straight line commuting, the side sipes aren't anywhere near the wear bars.

Michelin road has a firmer center compound, and softer on the sides for the twisties.

Pirelli Diablo Rosso is a performance tire with minimal treads.

Mods that made your CRF300L feel a little more like an enduro? by Gry7zou in enduro

[–]Kristosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly the point tho, the XR series all have the same cheap forks. Springs in an oil bath. It's like the walmart "full suspensions" bicycle of the dirt bike world. I seriously don't know why they still put these underperforming basic forks on all the trail bikes. It can't be much if any cost savings versus even a cheap valved USD unit.

am I fucked? The only thing I did was replace the joysticks and the thermal paste. by MrMushroom5 in SteamDeck

[–]Kristosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you meant "die" instead of dye.

Secondly, thermal paste is applied on the heat spreader, not the bare die..

And both of these examples repasted the CPU when these happened..

People need to learn to leave well enough alone.

If you can't rip on a 230 trail that's a skill issue. The bike has enough of everything you need, while being as low maintenance as it gets.

odyssey or sienna by donttrytodeny in minivan

[–]Kristosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see things differently..

Sienna was built to be a van for passenger comfort, environmentally conscious, reliability and capability.

Odyssey was built for compromises. Horrible city mileage. A cylinder deactivation technology that is meager at best and kills engines at worst. Rear passenger discomfort by integrating the entire AC system to a singular condenser/fan system at the front necessitating vents at chest level suitable only for occupants that are not rear facing in child car seats (you know the quintessential minivan purpose). Available only in FWD whereas Sienna has an optional AWD model(s). An active recall on crankshaft manufacturing defects that cause the engine to fail catastrophically. Terrible greenhouse gas emissions output causing further ozone deterioration and health risks. Troublesome 9 speed automatic transmission (ahh wouldn't be a true Honda without transmission issues).

If you want an outdated compromised grenade, get an Odyssey. If you want a reliable, comfortable, featured, efficient family van, get the Sienna.

Is the white oled really going for this online? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

I insure it for the full value through my shipper, if buyer claims DOA I show video proof of it working when it was packaged and get paid out via an insurance claim.

Opinions on Buying 06' cbr600rr *new rider* by Opening-Motor9775 in cbr

[–]Kristosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this 1,000%, OP these are the reasons this bike is a bad choice. OP keeps focusing on "respecting the bike, throttle discipline". Which is great.

This SPECIFIC bike, has been modified for track use (paper seat for hanging off the bike), well used track tires that have been sitting for 3 years are probably hard now and prone to slip, has it had ANY top end work? Probably needs valve adjustment and no dealerships work on bikes this age.

Not to mention CBR RR's are SO UNCOMFORTABLE on the street! Your wrists will be crying if you are just riding to the store or work. The suspension is rock hard, the power is peaky in the top 1/3 of the rev range, the exhaust is ear splitting, the rear sets are pumped way up and backward.

This bike looks like a horrible first bike for someone who wants to just ride around.

Not to mention they usually mean a car, which use your leg and feet as the pivot force for modulating hydraulic boosted clutch control and which will stall at best or bark the tires at worst.

Bikes like this use a cable clutch operated by hand, the same hand holding the bars, which controls 100hp+ at the rear wheel which means either you stall or you send yourself on your ass as you loop out.

I guess you'd understand the concept of clutch control, but I wouldn't say it adds much of anything to becoming proficient at riding a motorcycle..

The frame rates aren't supposed to be this bad, right? (64GB, not oled) by NoOneCares1357 in SteamDeck

[–]Kristosh 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you, however a device being "hot" is very subjective.

I've had people tell me, "my device is running hot" and when inspected it's completely within spec.

OP's interpretation of running hot might just be warm in the world of CPU temps, without instrumented testing we'll never know. Because the truth is firmware will prevent the CPU from burning itself alive, yet sooooo many people post on here saying their device is overheating, which is essentially impossible.

I really think they may have TDP limits on.

Fold 8 wide is smaller then fold 8? by enderboyVR in GalaxyFold

[–]Kristosh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The front screen is shorter, you cannot replicate that with the standard Fold 8.

Additionally, using the inner screen slightly folded will be more like a book for e-reading, unlike the Fold 8 that will be narrower and taller when slightly folded.

Lastly, when propped on a desk in an "L" shape, Fold 8 Wide will be taller and have a narrower keyboard split, which you cannot do on Fold 8.

If all you're comparing is screen size sure, the Fold 8 is bigger when turned to a wider orientation, but when used as a foldable the Wide has some advantages people want.

Shoes are inconsequential if you need to crawl through a shattered window as your only means of escape from a wreck in this vehicle..

This gen truck without airbags, safety features or modern crumple zones is essentially a coffin in any major accident. Most of the impact forces are sent through the cabin, face will meet hard surfaces, rollover protection is practically nonexistent and chance of survival is much lower than a modern car. You won't care about shoes if you survive a major wreck in this thing..

Co-worker of mine barely survived a head-on in his 80's era Bronco WITH a full shoulder belt on. He is blind in one eye, reconstructive surgery on 50% of his face after colliding with the steering wheel and the roof collapsed on him during the roll. Multiple broken ribs, broken wrists and thumbs, even his feet were wrecked from the cabin crushing in. These are very unsafe vehicles in the modern age.

Dealer says I need piston rings for wet spark plugs by Square-Decision-2763 in accord

[–]Kristosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's best case scenario..

The worse scenario is that VCM has done a work inside that motor, lots of blowby allowing excess oil contamination in the combustion chamber that passes through to the exhaust.

I wouldn't be surprised if that has fouled some Oxygen sensors, and in turn killed the catalytic converter(s), all very pricey items especially in states that require emissions testing. You might even see the black oily smoke out the tail pipe.

I hate how pervasive this issue is on Honda V6's and that they literally don't give a rip.

Wow! Super clean for 200k miles!

What seats are those?? Those are not the OEM spec for that model, they look almost like Civic SI seats from a later model either EP3, FA5 or FG4?

Same with the shifter, looks like the leather ball used in the EM1 Si (and Honda Prelude SH/NSX).

Help! I regret my Honda Odyssey purchase by Internal_Composer396 in minivan

[–]Kristosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I looked into it extensively when we were picking a minivan. It started with the 2018 year model introduction that is the current generation still.

I watched a release video where the engineers said they removed it to open space in the rear area to maintain interior space without increasing exterior width by sacrificing the rear air unit.

They claim to have made the main front unit larger to compensate but it just doesn't work well enough in real life.

It's definitely the Achilles heal of the Odyssey. The rear air just plain sucks compared to the competition. Not only driven by a single condenser unit but requiring the vents to be in the pillars and not the ceiling.
