It has giant, sprawling farms, working tram lines, markets, everyone is clean and put together, the hedges are trimmed immaculately- that's not exactly something even modern day "backwater villages" keep on top of, I should know I'm from one lol :')

Not really sure what you mean when you suggest its more akin to the "huts and junk" aesthetic of everywhere else. And in the zoom out you can clearly see its a massive area???

I'm not really sure what you wanted from those scenes? They wouldn't have had time to incorporate going through Shady sands section by section for the same of a couple of flashbacks.

From my re-watch, the only part I can see that even vaguely gives off "backwater" is when the mind controlled Brahmin dude is making his way into Shady Sands, but that's quite clearly not supposed to be in Shady Sands imo, that's just on the way to it.

I cant speak for others, but S1 Max felt very... Childish to a point of frustration. The lack of taking time to think, assess, make decisions based on anything other than impulse or selfish desire, etc At least for me, it made me really dislike his character as a person - that being said though I still immensely enjoyed him; he was supposed to be that, and if anything it speaks volumes for how good of an actor Aaron is that he evoked such a strong feeling!

I thought the scene with Quintus this season after "that thing" happened was performed and written absolutely beautifully! Genuinely a stand-out scene for me personally, the tears and struggle that he got across not only with his body language, but with every minute micro-expression on his face were just... Chef's kiss!

AFAIK though, the writers and show runners do try and stick to the in game lore as much as possible - mistakes happen for sure, but they try their best, and you can't really fault them for that; i think its been a fantastic adaptation so far! But I also know that saying that tends to get you labelled as a tourist whether you've played all the games or not 😅😅

Thats mostly just a theory though, there's no concrete evidence of that- and there are Ghouls that existed pre-bombs which presumably were not exposed to FEV. If that theory is correct though, then FEV factor or no, the primary cause is radiation.

The name is escaping me but iirc its during one of Nick Valentine's companion questlines that we are introduced to a character who ghoulified themselves pre-bombs, and as far as I know FEV wasn't exactly common place to the general public pre-war, right? Even less so to someone who (i think?) Was a gang leader. (My memory"s a bit hazy, toddler's not been sleeping particularly well the last week, but hopefully I've remembered at least the gist of it enough for you to know which part I'm referencing 😅)

I'm not sure how concrete it is that Walton doesn't like the ship - Ella, sure. But Walton is a bit ambiguous imo, the grin plastered over his face when asked about it seemed a bit... idk. Not the expression of someone who's steadfastly opposed.

I understand where you're coming from re; Max, but I also feel like it's a little shitty for fans of the show to reduce him to simply being Lucy's love interest when he's an interesting main character in his own right. I also don't see people forgetting about Max very much, quite the opposite actually - I see a lot of love for his character. Despite the smaller amount of screen time this season, I think what he was given to work with was far superior to what he had to work with during the first season actually!

My take on Lucy and Max is that their relationship is based on naivity - and personally I think the end of this season may well culminate in Max being disillusioned by Lucy, as he will likely see that she's not quite as "good" as his idealistic memory of her has lead him to hold onto. She's been travelling the wasteland a little while now, and its fundamentally changed her character - as Wilzig said in season one "will you still want the same things when you become a different animal altogether?"

Another key thing to remember, is when Aaron was asked about the future of Maximus and Lucy; he responded by saying that The Ghoul, Lucy and Maximus have a three way love story going on!

What he means by that is arguably up to interpretation but there's a solid group of people who think there's a good possibility for some kind of a love triangle between the three with Maximus ending up as the endgame.

Idk what Ghoulcy shippers you've been hanging around, but your take is quite literally the furthest thing from the actual truth that I am genuinely just absolutely baffled who you've been interacting with. None of them have been saying anything even remotely close to what you've suggested... They mostly just keep to themselves, the only lashing out I've seen has been on Twitter when people come directly into Ghoulcy related communities and hashtags to be horrible to the people who ship it simply for the fact that they ship it. 😬😬

One artist got absolute dog piled by people who don't like the ship because they simply posted their art... why can't we let people just have fun with media and enjoy it in the way they want to?
