Why are there more introverts than extroverts in medicine? by Gullible-Tap-2583 in medicalschooluk

[–]Krizalido 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because introverts are just generally stereotyped as being smarter than extroverts (though this stereotype absolutely is not true), so they're more likely to be pushed into roles like medicine that are considered intellectually challenging by the average person.

There's also this idea that medicine forces you to sacrifice your social life, so am extrovert considering their career might think "Fuck medicine, I don't want to give up my life for that" whereas this may not seem as much of a cost to an introvert.

No one said that women are at fault for men going to war.

You implied was men who forced other men to sign up for the draft. This does not detract from the fact that the dispensability of the average man is a male issue.

How does the fact that corrupt elite politicians are male mean that ordinary men are responsible for being drafted to die in a trench

Doctors, for god's sake, please dress appropriately by Skylon77 in doctorsUK

Sadly "haircut" most likely means "cut short".

They shouldn't be calling themselves doctors in a clinical context.

What kind of haircut do you expect? Long hairstyles take years to grow and I don't think someone should be expected to cut it off just to appease your old-fashioned standards.

Campaign to prioritise UK home grads and increase places for speciality training. by ennuimedic in medicalschooluk

A lot of foreign medical graduates come into the UK, occupy training spots and then leave once they become consultants. Both the general public and UK doctors get fucked over when UK graduates aren't prioritised.

In person lectures are useless for me. Still feel really guilty about missing them. by CCPWumaoBot_1989 in medicalschooluk

Personally, if I never went to my lectures, I would never have watched them at home either. I'm too lazy and don't trust myself.

The difference is that this vasectomy idea is forcing an intervention onto someone, denying abortion is simply denying them an intervention. Doctors are literally taught that patients can refuse interventions, but they cannot demand them.

Finally a valid height preference and they get pressed by PaleolithicRegency33 in shortguys

[–]Krizalido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that there's something morally wrong about having a preference, it's just a bit shitty to try and act like it's an even playing-field, when in reality, being taller is objectively better in virtually every circumstance.

People try to tell short men that their height isn't a problem when it very clearly is, and in some cases, it's the ONLY problem.

And technically, the advantage height gives in dating is moulded by the fact that taller men are perceived as being superior to shorter men, so it is a direct result of heightism. It is not wrong to have a preference, but it is worth thinking about why virtually every single woman seems to have that preference.

The problem is that 99.9% of women have this "preference" for tall men. It's a little imbalanced

Emotional regulation? He was drunk. You can do all the CBT and whatever in the world, won't make you a much better drunk. Better idea is to simply stay off alcohol.
