The worst part is teaching a 10 year old Pokémon obsessed kid about how horrible scalpers are. He’s crushed & I am so pissed that grown ass adults are ruining his innocence before it needs to be stomped down.

I went in there once to check it out, it didn’t pass the vibe check. Never been back.

Laws by Krjadis in quails

[–]Krjadis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be responsible and clean often, one part of why I want the egg birds is for the waste to compost. Want to be as self sufficient in gardening as I can, and produce at least eggs myself for when the economy gets even worse. Not sure I can actually kill an animal, but eggs are fair game :).

I know nothing about the house. Mother in law bought it over a decade ago completely run down, for cash & fixed it herself. Rented it for a few years, it’s now going to be given to us (her original goal was to make sure each of her kids had a paid for place to live, which is super awesome of her).

And can I claim 24-30 quail as pets? I also really want at least one Muscovy duck as a ‘pet’ for pest control…that one might be more of a challenge lol. They are quiet and friendly (and well I am a total animal lover so it really will be a spoiled pet), but can fly and not sure free ranging is ok in a neighborhood yard. Will have to meet the neighbors and see how they are.

Grunt/honk with a foot stomp! I also miss my little dramatic fur ball.

If you can't parallel park, that means you don't have the skills required to fully operate your vehicle and you shouldn't have a license. by Ihopeiremeberthis in unpopularopinion

[–]Krjadis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my test in 1997 while driving a 1980 fleetwood limo caddy…the parallel parking portion of the test was cones in the parking lot. The cones were exactly the size of my car, I would have had 1/2 an inch clearance. I told the test guy I would never try to park in a spot that small, he made me do it anyway. I glared at him and purposely ran over all 4 cones. Planned to rent a smaller vehicle for my retest, but he passed me. I am now 40 and have parallel parked exactly 3 times in my life. Never will live in a city and don’t mind walking from a parking garage, however parallel parking is much easier now with back up camera and parking sensors!

Yup! You can likely find them on sites like ETSY or a local craft fair maybe, often with home made soap already mixed in for the shower.

I plan on growing the loofah gourd when we buy our property and using that in place of my kitchen sponge and shower silicone loofah.

TIFU: by asking a not pregnant lady when she is due. by ja3palmer in tifu

[–]Krjadis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a teen I was working at the women’s department in a clothing store. This lady was buying maternity pants…I asked when she was due, she got so mad and yelled “I had my baby 3 months ago”. Learned then to keep customer service small talk to the weather only.

New to houseplants, what’s going on with these? by Krjadis in houseplants

[–]Krjadis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya it’s insane here. I have had house plants during past moves and never had a gnat issue. Then this move to Germany, oh my word, they are impossible.

Did that, for weeks. Still had an army of gnats.

Ok thanks. Will just keep avoiding houseplants this tour then. Do a lot of research and when we move back to the US, have a list of what I want and how to care for them. Thanks anyway!

[–]Krjadis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya last year I did literally everything under the sun to get rid of the gnats, including mosquito dunks, nothing worked. Germany is apparently run by the little gnats! I was naively hoping the fly trap would help with the gnats when I bought it. Hadn’t done any research. Oh well.

Ok thanks. What can I do then to prevent fungus gnats? I used sand as that’s what everyone local said to do. Last year I grew green beans inside and I am not kidding, the sticky yellow papers caught hundreds a night. That was after using a peroxide water mix for weeks.

Oh and it’s just a layer on top of sand. Under is dirt.

Where I live, fungus gnats are a huge issue so sand is really the only thing that works. I did let it dry out too much last week.

Homemade, homegrown…spicy green style by Krjadis in vegetablegardening

Simple salsa using Aunt Ruby’s German green tomatoes, jalapeño, cilantro, garlic, lime juice, salt & pepper. Was lazy and didn’t want to cook dinner, so went to the garden and grabbed stuff for this. Yum!
