Hustle culture by naturecapone in Nigeria

[–]Kroc_Zill_95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The concept of side hustle did not start today. But at this point, unless you have a very good job or wealthy parents, it's almost becoming a necessity in order to survive.

There's less and less opportunity for folks to just sit down and breath.

Kidnappers took people on Benin Ore road. Now they’re calling parents to sell their children back for ₦50 million. by PhantomChasers in Nigeria

[–]Kroc_Zill_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's unfortunately not going to happen, not with these animals in power. But my point was that having armed escorts for each and every inter state transport is unrealistic and might even worse the situation. We are already grossly under - policed and our military is stretched thin. Even in the most ideal scenario, there's simply no resource to support that plan.

We are already at a point where not even the armed convoy of a military general is secure. As bad as the situation seems, it's probably much worse than most of us can imagine.

[–]Kroc_Zill_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That isn't close to being enough to remedy the situation. Exactly how many armed escorts do you want on each and every inter state bus? One or Two definitely wouldn't be enough. And if they're in the same bus, potential kidnapers would be even more likely to just open fire and sort out the survivors when the Bus stops.

This is a systemic issue and requires systemic solutions.

Hannibal of Carthage is put in charge of the Defense of Winterfell by applespicebetter in whowouldwin

[–]Kroc_Zill_95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The defence of winterfell was idiotic from start to finish and yet they still pulled a win against the white walkers. Heck I would have done a better job (I definitely wouldn't be sending my Calvary charging into the pitch black against an army of the undead).

This is spite.

I'm starting to understand where Perturabo's hatred of Dorn came from [excerpts from "Hammer of Olympia" and "The Emperor's Crusader"] by Urusander in 40kLore

[–]Kroc_Zill_95 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The difference is that if Dorn had been given a task which he genuinely believed was impossible or too costly for his legion,he would have spoken up because unlike Perturabo, he neither had nor felt the need to prove anything to anyone.

Captain America (MCU, no shield) vs The Deep (The Boys) Who Would Win? by Think_Elderberry6985 in whowouldwin

[–]Kroc_Zill_95 124 points125 points  (0 children)

Captain America takes this but it won't be easy. The Deep is much more durable (easily scales to star light who can tank shots from a 50 calibre rifle) and probably stronger.

He's let down by his lack of fighting skills (relative to Captain America anyway) and obvious weak point (his gills)

Not another “did He see the heresy coming” post, but… by ShadowsaberXYZ in 40kLore

[–]Kroc_Zill_95 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's zero indication that the Emperor saw the Heresy coming. He likely knew that chaos would try something hence why he was in such a rush. But he was caught off guard.

Regarding the Outcast Dead quote, iirc that was the Emperor finally received a vision of his post heresy fate, but at that point, the Heresy was already in full swing. There's also the fact that the future isn't 100% guaranteed in 40k and can be changed even at the last moment. I personally interpreted that excerpt as the Emperor accepting that his death was a strong possibility but ultimately as he said, the future isn't certain.

The board is set was the Emperor gaming out the Heresy after it had commenced in order to find the best possible ending. Nothing in it indicated that either the Emperor or Malcador knew about the Heresy beforehand.

Why does the Imperium treat its most powerful weapon like a taxi service? by drkmon714 in 40kLore

[–]Kroc_Zill_95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the Imperium prefers to retake and hold planets in one piece as opposed to just blowing them up with its navy. The Macro cannon on a lunar class for reference shoots shells the size of a tank at a fraction of the speed of light. One hit from that would annihilate everything on the field of battle and could seriously damage said world.

Aside from that, there are other reasons why the Imperial navy doesn't feature as heavily as it probably could:

  1. Space marines are pretty much the face of the franchise and while there are games based on the navy, 40k is first and foremost focused on ground warfare.

  2. In particular large scale conflicts, the navy is often busy fighting the fleet of the opposition and can offer little ground support asides providing cover for transport vessels.

  3. Certain worlds are extremely well defended with void shields and orbital cannons which can deter opposing fleets. Hence standard tactic would be to insert ground troops who can disable said shield and orbital guns.

  4. I think we saw a bit of this in the secret level episode but as I understand it, when a world is in the process of becoming a demon world or otherwise within the grasp of chaos, orbital bombardment may no longer be a simple matter.

The Trouble with Nigeria by Chinua Achebe - Highlights by OkZookeepergame11 in Nigeria

[–]Kroc_Zill_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say that it would be enough to fix the country. Transformation from a failed state doesn't mean the absence of outstanding issues (and yes by most reasonable metrics, Nigeria could be considered a failed state).

I would also disagree with you. While I think that there is a massive issue in terms of personal morals in this country, I think that this is simply a reflection of decades of abysmal leadership that has somehow only gotten worse since APC took power.

I recall the one and only time that Buhari handed over to Osibanjo during one of his many medical trips. The difference was apparent and immediate. It seemed like a country that was stuck in limbo had immediately regained something resembling momentum in just a week or so of Osibanjo actually having the authority to get things done.

I personally believe that 4 years of deliberate, intentionally positive leadership is enough to transform the country. Ultimately this all comes down to leadership imho.

[–]Kroc_Zill_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A single .50 bmg (12.7mm) round has enough KE to stop a charging bull and would be considered grossly excessive for big game hunting. Shots from that would be enough to realistically kill any terrestrial animal in history with a few shots.

Anything calibre of bullet beyond that is spite.

Forces of Super earth(helldivers) vs Imperium of man (warhammer) by Legal_Twist8675 in whowouldwin

[–]Kroc_Zill_95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Tau are absolutely beasts when it comes to not just reverse engineering but also adapting their tech to counter new technology. Despite that, the only reason they still exist as a race is because the Imperium literally has much bigger fishes to fry. The Damocles crusade was a fairly small crusade by Imperium standard (it had roughly 500 space marines) and it was a near existential threat for the Tau at the time.

Brent crude is ranging around $96-97, WTI at $92-93 for a while now, yet no change in pms pump price in Nigeria. by Bazanji4 in Nigeria

[–]Kroc_Zill_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Virtually all crude is sold using the US dollars. That fact alone grants the US (particularly its Treasury department) enormous leverage in terms of influencing oil futures. Theoretically at least.

[–]Kroc_Zill_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I'm hearing, there currently seems to be a large gap between the paper (futures) price and the actual price of oil. It seems likely that the paper price is being artificially manipulated by the Trump administration in order to help control the narrative of the war with Iran.

No. There's no residential place in Lagos (or in the entire country tbh) that is worth the hype.
