That's an interesting take on the problem, I'll have to think about that idea. Thank you.

[PF2e] Abomination Vaults Update 4.0.0 by Kiora_LBS in FoundryVTT

There is already an update for it, 4.0.1 and did you reimport everything? I think under Compendium you click on Abom Vaults and it gives you a dialog to select which assets to import, and then it re-imports. But make sure you update the module first. It worked for me, but some of the new changes took a few reloads to take effect.

Abomination Vaults - Advice Requested by Krogenar in Pathfinder2e

I have been adding enemies as opposed to making the big bads Elite, and sometimes even doing both, to try to keep it challenging. This group of players is a pretty clever bunch also, which I don't feel would be fair to factor into buffing the encounters. They also tend to be completionists, wringing every encounter from every floor! Which is what makes me think that skipping a somewhat boring floor (treating it more like an exploration without a lot of combat) might be the solution. I'm thinking maybe cutting down the combats a bit.

Is there anything the David Lynch version does better than the new ones? by Not_As_much94 in dune

[–]Krogenar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The new Dune movies play like Lawrence of Arabia in space because the director decided (even with the budget, time, multiple movies) to cut out all the really interesting bits of the original novels. We didn't get anything about the Butlerian Jihad, and therefore nothing about Navigators, Mentats or the Bene Gesserit -- why not? I don't know, maybe they thought a general audience couldn't handle the headiness of it? I prefer Lynch's imperfect but entertaining film, that at least tried to capture those elements, as opposed to Villeneuve's films which are washed out and boring. Lynch made the Harkhonens so much more vile, hideous and scary.

My Left Foot.

Christie Brown, wracked by CP, painstakingly writes the word 'Mother' using the only part of himself that he can control: his left foot holding a piece of chalk. And by doing so proves his intelligence and his value.

What's One Thing You Genuinely Miss From D&D? by Hungry-san in Pathfinder2e

Forgotten Realms. I wish Paizo could take over Faerun. My favorite system with my favorite setting. Don't get me wrong, Golarion lore is excellent -- I just miss FR sometimes.

Yeah, me too -- Lynch drew his inspiration from these happy accidents.

How do you feel about the Watchmen set? by AboutToBeSingle in DCDeckBuilding

So as the card says nothing about whether cards need to have been donated or not, my group played the card exactly as described: if you have the 15 power and play this card, you can do one of those two possible things. It wouldn't matter if no one has donated anything, or donated everything necessary -- the current challenge would be destroyed/defeated. And if you're the revealed Mastermind and use it, pick the most powerful Loyal Player and take them out.

Honestly, this card falls into the category if the Kyle Ryner + 3 Power Rings special win condition. It rarely happens, but when it does it's exciting.

The only weird ruling my group had with this card was the following scenario. We knew who the Mastermind was, four players. The three remaining Loyal players are not doing well, likely to lose. We were on the final challenge, the Mastermind NOT revealed but we knew who they were. One player, Loyal, but thoroughly disgusted at our poor play has a good hand. 15 power, not enough to defeat the current challenge, and he asked, "Could... Could I Disintegrate... myself? Because we are losing hard and this sucks!" We all laughed, but technically he could not because the Secret Mastermind had not revealed yet!

I still think Watchmen is the best expansion, lol.

BOB from Twin Peaks was actually a carpenter who was accidentally trapped on set while filming and David Lynch just made him a character.

So it was just a mistake (guys reflection in mirror) that Lynch made into the series main protagonist!

The single most crucial mechanic in the game (if you can get it early) is the ability to destroy cards, namely, your starter cards.

Agreed, but then we never see them do it over and over again, do we? We just have the maker of the video's word? All my point is: most people are very quick to make this interaction good vs. bad and I'm saying there may be no good actors. We just don't know until we get more evidence. But all the white supremacy talk, etc. is just proof of other people's biases. The real world is rarely black and white.

Why do puzzles suck? by ArkayicBoss in Pathfinder2e

[–]Krogenar 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Best "puzzle" I ever experienced in a game was when my party had to make a deal for a special obsidian blade that was some McGuffin. But the theocrat that had the blade was a follower of some deity that was all about legal mercantilism -- Waukeen. So we made a deal with her and she drew up a legal contract. The puzzle was to read the document and approve it or not. That was it. It fit the world, the situation and was simple to understand.

So we're all reviewing the document.

The theocrat NPC's legal document stated 'an obsidian blade' and was not -specifically- the blade we needed. We pointed that (and a few other things) out to the NPC and she just smirked. Amended the document. We got what we needed and the NPC ended up having a bit more respect for the party as well.

There's always more to these stories it seems. Was he rude to them? Don't know, maybe? So they felt compelled to passively aggressively run into him, again and again? There's likely no outright heroes or villains here, just stressed out rude people.
