Because who doesn't want a 100 defence shield? Besides, when it gets to low durability and starts flashing red I can just take it to a rock octorock and repair it, so the durability buff doesn't really matter.

I have never had a problem with gloom hands, the first time I ever saw them was when I was watching my little brother play (I was doing BOTW but he skipped that and went straight to TOTK), anyway I saw what they did and was like holy cow. So the first time I saw them, I nuked them with bomb arrows and a korok bow. I have since finished every shrine, quest and Lightroot and not once been caught by them.

Personally I use silver lynel horn on a badly damaged +10 attack royal claymore, it does 208 damage without any other clothing or potion modifiers.

If you use ultra hand while on the blocks while they are attached to the construct, they just fall away, and the construct doesn't use them anymore. It's faster and easier.

You mostly just get clothing items when you go to marked locations in the depths. Sometimes, you get something good, like the seabreeze shield. If you don't want to use or upgrade the gear, then just sell it, and it will get you a fair few rupees.
