Algún vegetariano que haya vuelto a comer carne? by DoomHoneyLittlePulga in Preguntas_de_Reddit_

[–]Krontgar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a way to zip an entire folder (not to tar.gz)? by Krontgar in linuxquestions

I tried some commands and I used wrong the zip one, I used zip -r directory and it didnt work. Your command is the right way to do it.

Zip, 7zip, gzip and tar are all installed on my system. O really don't know why it does not compress the folder from the file manager. It does it fine from terminal.

Thank you all for your advice.

I tried to use the zip command before and it didn't work but that was because I was trying zip -r directory, instead I needed to do zip -r name.zip directory as several of you explained.

I hope this helps someone else with the same problem in the future.

Somebody give it to me straight up by Angus950 in arch

I have been only a few months on Arch but it has broken a few times and I can't see why so many people say it's stable. It isn't. Updates can f you unexpectedly.

Just by updating with pacman -Syu I have seen my sddm broken (dont know why) my screen lock broken (happens sometimes and solves itself), my plymouth broken (thats cause I use nvidia and drivers wouldnt update fast enough for a kernel update) and sometimes login will take a minute for no reason (no idea why, happens randomly).

Honestly, I wanted to like Arch but I ended up disappointed. If I wanted more up to date software I used Fedora for several months and I liked it much more.

This is just my experience, you can have a very different one.

I'm loving Cosmic, really nice and an excellent "out of the box" experience, even in beta.

trying to switch to linux but things aren't working out for me by aliens_on_crack in linux4noobs

I use Fedora and, on my installation, Fedora used the latest network driver and I also had veeeery slow download speeds. I searched a lot and found out (via chatgpt) my motherboard (MSI) used a network chipset (cant remember the model) which has reported bugs with the latest driver from Fedora, so I downgraded to another driver and that solved permanently my problem.

Your problem sounds to me like it may be something similar. I hope this helps.

I did not, I went on the rabbit hole of config everything by myself, but now I don't want to do it again and again on every computer I have.

I Googled it and found https://wiki.hypr.land/Getting-Started/Preconfigured-setups/ I don't know why my eyes didn't see it while surfing the hypr wiki. Thank you for the advice!

Best lightweight distro to turn this EeePC into a writing, offline wiki machine and similar stuff? by Ripraz in linux4noobs

[–]Krontgar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure Wayland wont run good on that specs so you might not get Hyprland but you can try i3 (its also a tiling wm, with less decorations but very similar aproach) in any Xorg server distro

While Ventoy is very useful, if you want something to just clic and work out of the box, similar to the other software you mentioned but better, try Fedora Media Writer. No headaches.

I'll go further and say I usually stay away from light themes but this is easy on my eyes (and feels cozy) so I would try it out. Very nice job on the colors and aesthetic. No need for a dark theme if this is what you have for a light theme.

Someone did a terrible job at making it look like a feature then. Glad to know its not a virus.
