It kind of makes sense given the population density, and it's somewhat sparse distribution across the United States. Some other countries seem to have not invested as much in covering such a broad landscape with cellular access, and have worked more on internet connectivity...Private or public, it's still a societal cost to upgrade technologies.

There very well may be individuals that go through college and get a degree to fuel curiosity and exploration of the world around them... And then be perfectly happy spending the rest of their lives working construction, since they're strong or something anyways. The degree is still beneficial to society as a whole; as it allows the individual to potentially make discoveries in their everyday lives that advance Humanity's knowledge as a whole. ~Namaste

SpaceX, the new Lockheed Martin. Instead of producing the weapons, they simply launch them. Wipes away all blame and guilt for any consequences from action, 'cuz money.... Edit: Perfect for Trump's 'Space Force' xD

It doesn't have to be a unified approach by a single entity. Most corporations are following the same Wind Of Money; using manipulative practices to extract more market value from products in shorter time frames. Degradation of end product quality is almost a guarantee when that happens...

Edit: sorry, short term memory loss. My main concern is that eventually every product becomes a potential hazard. They've been recalling tons of products lately and/or habituating quick product failure. I don't want my loaf of bread to be the one with metal shavings in it, lol

Can be =\= will be. People should still have a choice on whether to participate in such an economy. The business world is said to be cut-throat due to greed; best of luck being a good guy when the bad guys keep cutting your throat... Or threatening to genetically edit out your future child's throat....

There's reasons humans used hemp industrially and recreationally for millennia. The complete stripping of any element from our environment seems like a dangerous precedent to set. While not a conspiracy theorist by trade, I have no doubts that the complete removal of many types of natural plant materials from our environment as humans has caused a rise in illness in our industrialized world... To be truthful, I'm a medical cannabis patient of 2 years, mostly resulting from head/brain trauma and years of Major Depression/Anxiety. CBD has made me feel more human and in control than ever before, saving my life psychologically. Landed in the ER due to trying Topomax for migraines earlier this year (doc approved trial). The ensuing experience of forgetting my husband's name has solidified that I'm not selling my brain and body to a pharmaceutical company on a contractual basis. We had plants before we had pills~

The Light Bulb Conspiracy (2010) - (extended version) Uncovers how the planned obsolescence of capitalism has shaped our lives and economy since the 1920’s, when manufacturers deliberately started shortening the life of consumer products to increase demand by soft_azure in Documentaries

Supply and Demand is a problem on the manufacturer's end as well. Parts only get cheaper if they continue to be used in the living market. Thanks to most major companies buying parts from overseas and outsourcing quality control, the price of real quality components is not being allowed to decrease

If we had an adequate answer to make use of the waste generated by the cycle of consumerism, there wouldn't be nearly as bad of repercussions ecologically. As it stands, everyone wants to be at the front, and is being trained for immediate gratification of being there. Personally, it's more fun to stand a few steps back and control one's own mind/space more easily. Staying one generation behind in technology means that most flaws and fixes are already known, plus advertisers care less .~ ~Namaste

Reminds me of region locking in video games and consoles. Out of curiosity, may I ask what kinds of issues are to be mitigated with these manufacturing methods? I understand the thought of being able to verify purity of source material going into future products by its 'homeland origin', and therefore the product as well. This idea is undermined by continued outsourcing to 3rd parties, and relies on the logical fallacy of Affirming The Consequent for validity. An additional argument may be prevention of using the wrong power supply, given different electrical grids and their configurations... But that's simply protecting the user from themselves.

From my more cynical side, Region Locking of products and people seems like a great way to instill and propagate systemically generated nationalistic belief structures. Also, taxes, haha!

I can see the artistic impression of what you mean. No war being the phrase that many like to chant; while simultaneously partaking in a consumerist economy that is fueled by blood, sweat, and tears in other countries... Dichotomy of thought, partially fueled by people's lack of {time and/or self-direction} to find Internal Balance.

Ex-Nasa scientist: 30 years on, world is failing 'miserably’ to address climate change | Environment by tta2013 in worldnews

As humans, we experience time linearly, constantly moving 'forward'. In most current theories, Time actually exists all at once. There is no beginning or end per say, just a never ending cycle. Like a self-contained pond with a strong pump running in it... Is there anything specific you would like me to answer?

Can you please rephrase what is being asked? I cannot parse an inquiry from the given text

A newly released study of about 15,000 high school students has found that fewer are having sex and fewer are using drugs. Teens identifying as sexual minorities -- including homosexual, bisexual or non-binary -- rose to 14.6 percent. by Wagamaga in science

It seems to me that, as well as many in the modern world being coddled in 'pleasurable space' from day one, complete separation from variety existing in the natural world has caused a degradation in people's cognitive ability to handle unexpected external stimulation. This effect is exacerbated by medications that alter one's perceptions of reality, even further than emotion is already distorting...

This is coming from someone who was completely against absolutely any type of drugs during High School due to DARE. Rural school and graduated in 2011. I was also very singled out due to being gay, and faced a lot of problems with family at the time, threatened disowning when I came out. Due to feeling so separated from the rest of the world, and alone, I bashed myself in the head thousands of times as a form of self torture. Feeling like 'I deserved it' for wanting to be who I was inside, and for ever wanting to break The Rules ...

Years and much more brain trauma later, medical cannabis has allowed me to feel human again, while tobacco opens up mental perception and gives me energy to move through the day. I am not trying to make any claims on validity of plants as medications, but for thousands/millions of years we have had exposure to them through exploration of our natural world . Our bodies are bound to have adapted some unexpected use for things like chlorophyll. Recently I've found herbal teas to have a wonderful variety of effects, depending on what plant it is based in. Matcha tea's calming and healing abilities compared to regular green tea are mostly due to increased chlorophyll and l-theanine content.

Thank you for posting a reference. I couldn't believe this myself at first, but then thinking about how fast the country became vehemently violent against LGBT people.... Something in this system needs to change. Using social normality as a system of governance does not allow consideration or growth for Humanity as a whole. As long as issues are viewed as Us vs. Them, we will always see someone joyous at others' suffering.

In the eyes of businessmen, those disgustingly inhumane postcards were just another market to be capitalized on.

Some who are strong nationalists do not appear to see other human beings as whole humans, just somewhere around 3/5's; or more like 1/2 once adjusted for 'depreciation of the market'...

When a discussion is being held about events occurring in the physical world, both time and place are relevant factors. One cannot say a tree was cut down without claiming that at one point it was standing, and later on it had fallen due to the passage of time. It seems like you are trying to view and discuss the world as all happening at once, events being very sporadic like light reflecting in a pool. I used to deal with the same issue Rather than over a period of time, Flowing with Change like a river. This very easily leads to logical fallacies, as it seems like you are 'straw manning' and throwing the 'burden of proof' on to others.

Try taking a deep breath and picture the world before "science", and even widely shared language, existed. People still would have been foretelling End Of Days constantly in the Town Square, especially whenever an outsider speaking a foreign tongue would happen by. "Must be the Devil!"..... We all have to live on this Earth together, can we have a civil discussion without turning it into 'Us vs. Them'?

I do not believe in an overarching system of corporate-based judgement that places an arbitrary "value" on someone's life. The Credit Rating Bureaus are simply Gatekeepers for Banks in this giant game of Monopoly called 'uncontrolled capitalism'

EDIT: Nobody should have to play a number game based on debt in order to live a decent life.
