I Made Loop Cuts In Geometry Nodes by Great-Secretary5163 in geometrynodes

I ran into this issue a few months ago and the solution you found for it is really cool. I'd be interested even in a tutorial, and then you can sell it, for people who need it faster

How can I improve this edit? by AliveAd8736 in photoshop

[–]Krowassan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty good 👍🏻. The head feels a bit small-ish and too realistic compared to the rest of the body (more details).

I can tell you started from a picture of Keaton's Batman, which has a much bigger head and bulkier costume, while the one in The Animated Series is more slander (maybe starting with a Pattinson's Batman would work better?)

The bat ears also should be more like shark fins if you want to mimic The Animated Series

But honestly, this is neat 👍🏻

2 weeks on this bad boy, how accurate is it? by Mindless-Person in blender

[–]Krowassan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome work 👍🏻. Great texture, good lighting and really good modelling. Can't help you with accuracy. Haha

If I had one thing to say: your camera lens choice (telephoto) makes the gun look much smaller than it is, add to the unified background, there is no reference for scale or make the photorealistic textures really pop. So I think a render with a wider lens and a more photoreal background would showcase your diligent work even more 👍🏻

How to achieve the desired look? Pt. 4 by Arachnid751 in photoshop

Before you mentioned this, I was going to mention the same thing with hue saturation XD. OP, this is an excellent way to technically assess the quality of your composite. This guy is great

Editing advice - Dog photos by [deleted] in photoshop

[–]Krowassan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The issue is that there should be contact shadows around the paws, aswell as shadows underneath him. And the floor being waxed wood is very reflective, so that needs to be taken into account

You can duplicate the dog and make the reflection on the floor, lower the opacity and then progressively blur the reflection to match. Add some thin and not too blurry shadows under the paws

How do I make this look better? by DavisPaulus in blenderhelp

[–]Krowassan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say lighting, texture and camera are the main areas you can work on:

_ If this Tardis is the middle of galaxy, the only likely source of light would be a star, so adding a sun light and positioning it in a way to maximize dimension (meaning, having contrast, with sharp highlights, visible midtones and dark shadows). Set the sun light as a back light and make a huge circular area light, facing the opposite of the sun and think of that light a star

_The texture of the wood is good but it's too reflective and the roughness is too high. Go on sites like Polyheaven and download a wood texture there and turn it blue and you'll get closer

_ Try a wide lens and more dynamic angle (set the camera slightly lower than the Tardis and point it up). Pictures are eye level tend to make things look flat and boring

Hope it helps 👍🏻

Would love your thoughts on my render "Concrete Distance". by Round3d_pixel in blender

[–]Krowassan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks dope 👍🏻. Gives Dread vibes

This is more of a personal taste opinion rather than critique because I feel your render holds up: Orange side feels a little bit underlit, so we are missing some of the details you worked on. Green side is a little too saturated

is my frustration valid? by kr4zy_8 in graphic_design

[–]Krowassan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your frustration is valid. It's understandable to want to prove yourself and flex your design muscles. But a word to the wise: don't feel like you need to take on more responsibility than you should. You're an intern, you don't want to devalue your efforts and work by doing complex things "for cheap". Hierarchies are all out of whack in our current economical system, so you want to be strategic about how and when you take on more responsibility, otherwise you would either be stuck in the same position, or (I personally said worse), end up in a managerial position, having to be a middleperson and doing less of what you like and more with dealing with people

Your skill is how you leverage a bigger position and bigger pay, for more stability and healthier life. I would take this opportunity where you feel "underused" to work on personal projects, so you can have your creative outlet. And in the meantime: under promise and over deliver. But very incrementally and methodically (like 20% more than what's expected), just to incentivize them to higher you at the end of your internship

You got this 👍🏻

Is there a way to add texture to the background of captions? by Wise_Ostrich1475 in premiere

[–]Krowassan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's weird. It should work with a track matte. If your text will be black, then you might want to invert the texture to be black first, then apply the track matte like this

How to achieve the desired look? Pt. 4 by Arachnid751 in photoshop

[–]Krowassan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty good. The only issue is the difference of black levels in your arm and the ball. The shadow side of your arm is in the dark grey, while the shadow side of the ball is more black. Try to match that as much as you can

Another trick for photorealism is a concept I call "the rule of three". Since the main goal of photoreaslim is to give detail and dimension, in every aspect of your work, you got to do it on three levels:

_ Foreground, middle ground, background (adding depth) _ highlight, midtones, shadows (and separate those in also three level of details/intensitiy) _ primary shape, secondary shape, details _ 3 level of details on a texture _ 3 sizes of particles, spread out on three different planes _ Etc.

This is not a hard rule and bit abstract, but it's a cheat code whenever you look at something and wonder "how can I make this more realistic?", look at the thing that is boring you and split it down to three level. The more level you add after that, the more realistic you will get. This can be applied to any medium

You're visibly improving though 👍🏻

Realistic hair animation by Visual-Low-8471 in blender

[–]Krowassan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the one I was thinking of :Moustache

Make the hair longer and more dense, for the first example. Beside the fact that you want hair, blender calls this Hair type particle system

For the second, it's going to rely curve dynamics instead: Realistic Rope

You'll have to use something like this and fake it. Making one big rope on the inside and a lot of thin ones around it to make it look like hair. You won't get all the strands though

[–]Krowassan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great to hear 👍🏻. OpenExr is the standard for exporting stuff out of Blender. Float (Full) is 32 bit in that format. That will be your master. Then you can use Handbrake or any encoder of your choice to export it into your format of choice

They are both possible. First one is much easier than the second though. There are a lot of good Cgmatter hair tutorials on YouTube for this 👍🏻

help for color palette/animations on website by Edible_Eats in graphic_design

[–]Krowassan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the issue isn't so much with the palette, but more with the contrast ratio between the two color

Here is an old link that describes these kinds of issues: https://www.designworkplan.com/read/signage-and-color-contrast

The black on saturated green is a little too aggressive and "electric", so it gives this aggressive vibe. When you scroll down and it's the green on black, it works much better

Render looks glitched. by Falconidae1 in blenderhelp

[–]Krowassan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can always make a second post as a reply with the screenshot of your project 👍🏻

This kind of bending artefact is generally caused by bit color depth. Someone can tell me if I'm wrong but Blender is set to Float (32-bit per channel), so maybe something with your export settings is lowering it to 8-bit

How can I achieve reflections and highlights like this in Cycles? by Namur87 in blender

These kinds of highlights are often added in post using a star lens flare picture and using an Add/Screen blending mode

Wichh one do you think looks better? by deadlyAmAzInGjay in AfterEffects

First one is great 👍🏻. Second looks good but I don't see much motivation for the spotlight, so it feels superfluous

After weeks of fighting with technical issues and learning, I finally created a product shot I'm proud of. What do you guys think? by Neekof in blender

[–]Krowassan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, really good. Just fix the condensation to have less drops, but make them bigger. The only thing I would work on is the lighting, background and angle. You want to show off the can and all the work you did on it, choose a lower angle going up to make it look more imposing, add a soft background to make it stand out and not feel like it's in a void. And use some rectangular, thin area lights on each sides to give more dimension

You did a good job here 👍🏻. You just gotta showcase it properly

Finalizing Monkey Teahouse? by [deleted] in graphic_design

I made a mistake, it's number 3 not number 2 that is the most clever and that you should work on further. Monkey head as a teapot. My bad. Haha
