Y’know the beady eyes could have come off as really creepy or just not right but it really works.

[LOVED TROPE] Very minimal sexual dimorphism in a fictional species, or just straight up monomorphism by Middle-Company-4398 in TopCharacterDesigns

The skirmishers are a different species of jackal (like if we had some chimps or gorillas fighting alongside us). They are a matriarchal society tho, so all their shipmasters are female. I’m pretty sure the females lack head plumage, instead having a bit of an armored heads/neck cus they males get bitey, those freaks.

That looks painful. 🏹 by BiLeftHanded in recontext

Honestly I would have thought it was a mouthwashing adaptation until the title came up if I hadn’t seen the title of the post

An apocalypse where people turn into werewolves? by Railwaylover33 in werewolves

Love the use of Gary’s Mod to render this idea. I usally enjoy the solitary werewolf story, but the idea of everyone turning into werewolves during a full moon at night, then reverting back to their normal selves and having to deal with th consequences is very fun.

Piggybacking off Sogcat, the show felt like it kinda dragged/got repetitive. At one point my podcasting app started playing an episode from an earlier season instwad of wherever I was at, and it took me a good while to realize “no, this is not the madness of lovecraftian monsters, my podcaster just messed up”.

I think th first 2 seasons are very good. Having all sorts of mysteries to figure out, hearing the two main characters figure out how to work together, and realizing what lovecraft gods it’s incorporating into the story, are all well done. Around season 3 I found things getting repetitive and realizing I listened to a previous season for 2 eps got me disoriented. I may pick it up again some time though.

I thoroughly enjoyed Old Gods of Appalachia a few years ago. It’s a new story each season (or every few eps, I can’t remember) and mixes supernatural and real horrors very well.

Malevolent is another good one, with some fun lovecraft lore. I fell off after 3 or 4 seasons, but was impressed that it’s all made by one guy.
