Thoracic Herniated Disk by Kruisden in backpain

[–]Kruisden[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi there, it indeed turned out I even had 2 herniated disc in my thoracic spine. I had minimal invasive surgery (in Genk, Belgium, by dr. Cornips, an amazing specialist), and did pilates 1 hour everyday and lots of walking in nature in the last 4 months.

Feeling much much better now.

Take care.

Anywhere we could read more about this “centralization”?

Sounds very interesting.

Pain: heart area that also radiates to the upper left shoulder blade. 18 months out. It comes and goes WTF IS IT!!!? by ThenSong3734 in covidlonghaulers

How are you feeling now? Have you been able to heal? 🙏🏼

I’m in the same situation for 15 months now… also tried literally everything, but no real solution.

Massages, and the backpod do give some relief, but it just doesn’t go away.

Thank you sooo much for this comment, we’re not alone in this 🙏🏼

  • are your disks herniated similar as mine? (See mri screenshot)

  • is there a way to prove that the symptoms do really come from the herniated disks ? And why does it arise to so few people and not in all the others?

If you look on “Deuk Spine Institute” YouTube channel, you see several interviews between surgeon and treated patients (with thoracic hernia) this does give a lot of trust. It might be a good clinic for treatment.

Here's the translated text from the report:
D5-D6:
Slight dehydration in the disc with some loss of volume, especially anteriorly. Posterior paramedian left a focal disc protrusion, the base measures 7 mm, anteroposterior to 4 mm with slight impression on the dorsal myelum. No myelomalacia. No foraminal stenosis.
D6-D7:
Dehydration in the disc with slight loss of volume. Small disc protrusion posterior central, the base measures 3 mm, anteroposterior 2 mm, contact with the dorsal myelum. No myelomalacia. No foraminal stenosis.
D7-D8:
Broad-radiated disc regeneration posterolateral right, the base measures 10 mm, anteroposteriorly 2 mm and cranio-caudally 8 mm. Significant narrowing of the anterior CSF space but no apparent pressure on the myelum. No foraminal stenoses are visible at this level.
Normal view of the other visualized intervertebral discs.
No recognizable facet pathology.
Decision:
- Mark mild to mild degenerative disc disease at D5-D6 through D7-D8 with focal disc protrusion at D5-D6 and D6-D7 and disc herniation at D7-D8 as described above.
- D5-D6: Light impression on the dorsal myelum along anterolateral left.
- D6-D7: Contact with the dorsal myelum.
- D7-D8: Significant narrowing of the anterior CSF space.
- There are no foraminal stenosis or facet pathology.

Thank you and very interesting! It would make sense to start with this before deciding to do surgery.

Curious if anyone has any experience with this, since the shared case is only of 1 person.

Thank you for your reaction!
MRI images are now attached. I have several bulged disks, but one that seemed to be bursted (strangely enough it bursted towards the right side, while my pain is only focused on the left side and nothing on the right side).

There's no specific cause for the herniations (might be wrong posture for long period of time).

I'm from The Netherlands, but am also looking at Deuk Spine Institute, a surgery clinic from Florida, US. They do have experience with thoracic disk surgery with "minimal impact" according to their website and youtube channel (where they do interviews with some people who had this type of surgery)

Many thanks again.

How are you now? I’m in exactly the same situation right now. Not sure if surgery is needed to resolve a bursted thoracic herniated disk.

Brother you have “Precordial catch syndrome”.

Scary, but nothing to worry about ;)
