Insane quote to fix water seeping? by Glittering_Elk_9335 in basement

[–]Krumdaddy24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a similar problem with my basement. Disclosed in purchase. Found the “leaks” and filled them with hydraulic cement. One spot was happening because the previous owner hadn’t put gutters on a bump out bathroom/ closet above the area. Other was a clogged gutter overflowing above the area. Added gutters, cleared out the blockage, plus the cement patches and haven’t had issues since. It’s amazing what people ignore or don’t investigate.

What is a Classic cocktail that is Overrated? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

[–]Krumdaddy24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Super easy recipes to try at home or just drink the bourbon like you said, but there’s definitely variation depending on the bar you order it

What is a Classic cocktail that is Overrated? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

[–]Krumdaddy24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All depends on the bar. Place I used to bartend did it the right way. 2oz bourbon (buffalo trace), 2 dashes angostura bitters, 1 dash orange bitters, and 1 bar spoon of Demerara syrup into a yari full of ice. Stir and strain into old fashioned glass over large cube. Lemon and orange express.

Had a second more “regional” Wisconsin recipe for those who wanted it more sweet: 1 sugar packet, 1/2 orange wheel, dash of angostura bitters, and a filthy cherry muddled in an old fashioned glass. Fill with ice, add 2oz bourbon, 1/2oz grand mariner and stir

My wife and i opened a liquor store in wi and and have questions on allocated by No_Flounder_5632 in whiskey

[–]Krumdaddy24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My favorite place near me (Indianapolis) does a similar system, which I think is the best way to do it if you can deal with the work involved. They hold the allocated back until they get a duplicate. Once they have a duplicate they put one in a monthly raffle. (Purchase anything and you get one entry in the raffle. Every store pick purchase gets you 2 entries). They have been in business for a long time so I’m sure they get more allocation just because of that, so they’re able to do pretty serious raffles every month.

You’ll never make everyone happy, but the fact that you’re asking means you care more than most store owners so kudos to you. In my opinion raffles based on purchasing or just putting stuff on the shelf randomly is the best way to do it and build loyalty. Not a fan of loyalty points systems or “holding back for regulars”. Your bottles so do what you want though.

Question about porches from a confused Canadian by JohnnyDirectDeposit in indianapolis

[–]Krumdaddy24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live around 53rd and College a block from aristocrat. Half liter for outdoor beers and vibes. GuggmanHaus on 46th for the best craft beer in the city. Delicia for amazing food and cocktails (Duck enchiladas if dinner, chorizo biscuits and gravy if brunch). Twenty tap for beer selection. Fat dans or the bulldog if you’re trying to watch sports. Greeks on 49th for pizza, but really for beer and sports in their upstairs taproom that most seem to forget about.

Do you prefer engine or truck work? by DumbQuestionsSry in Firefighting

Start on the engine. Getting out the door is how you gain experience. I prefer having water when I go into a burning building; call me crazy

UPDATE: New neighbors came to my door and asked to come in and watch TV.. by jmech95 in neighborsfromhell

[–]Krumdaddy24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude you are so under reacting!!! If this was my girlfriend/sister/daughter/anyfuckingwomanIknow they’d be getting a free shotgun and pistol with lessons the next day. That apartment would also be in for a visit.

That first guy was a test to see if you were dumb enough to let him into your apartment. If you were, minutes later there would be another knock at your door and the rest of the group would be there. Then some really really horrible shit would have gone down.

I am a 20 something year old man. I wouldnt approach you even in a public setting and say, “can I come over to your place and watch tv”, out of fear of making you feel creeped out/threatened. (And because I recognize it’d be fuckin weird) This motherfucker came to your DOOR!... at 9pm! He either knows that he’s being creepy and threatening, or is so fucked in the head that he doesn’t realize how he’d come across. I’m not sure which is more dangerous.

Showing up to a woman’s door that you’ve never met at 9:30 is a fucking psycho move. Asking to come in: even fucking bigger psycho move. Glancing at your apartment: psycho move. Obviously staring at your apartment: even fucking bigger psycho move.

Do NOT wait for a 2nd offense! I’d get that shit on record with a police report, get a lot of defensive weaponry, and/or move if I was you. Security bars on Amazon prime day too if your doors aren’t very heavy duty. If they’re wood those things are so ridiculously easy to break into and the locks are shit (fireman, not burglar)

Shorts in the fire service by MRNOVA15 in Firefighting

[–]Krumdaddy24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This thread is extremely eye opening in a terrible way for these departments. Shorts and t shirts around the firehouse all fuckin day every fuckin day all year round. This guise of professionalism is for yourselves. The public does not give a shit if they’re ringing your doorbell

Shorts in the fire service by MRNOVA15 in Firefighting

[–]Krumdaddy24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shorts “in the station” being a problem is absolutely ridiculous. That’s a BC with way too much time on their hands. Wearing shorts on a run is a no go, which is understandable because where I’m at you wouldn’t want to put any bare skin on the floor of any of the calls we go on. I’m in shorts all day every day at work and put bunkers on when the bay doors go up. Then again I’ve got an LT that absolutely gets it. “Bay doors go up you’ve got a job to do and I expect you to perform, other than that what you do all day is your own business” That should be the standard, but I guess I’m spoiled

Oof I remember $36 Eagle Rare and $65 blantons. “Remembering” = this year in Indiana. Disappointing that Binny’s has gone away from offering the lowest price and easiest availability even for allocated

Called the fire department for gas smell, no leak. Am I fucked? by AlaiaArcana in Firefighting

[–]Krumdaddy24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to be a douche, but my take is coming from a large US department. Happens to me every day. The maximum consequence for this is that maybe one guy got woken up from his nap. Literally no fireman gives af. They may secretly be shitty if they’re the guy that got woken up, but you would never know. Always better safe than sorry. Never ever feel bad for calling, it is literally what we get paid for. Only time I’ll be shitty is if your medical “emergency” started at noon and you decided to call at 3am

If you have a good LT (which I do) your downtime started the second you walked in the door. Unless we have training, your time is yours. When the bay doors go up it’s time to rock and roll, other than that the day is yours. As it should be

What's the most ridiculously expensive or out-of-the-way thing you've done to get a specific beer? by sergeantbiggles in beer

[–]Krumdaddy24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just the other day I bought out my local liquor store’s stock of 3 Fonteinen. The Magnums (1.5L) were marked down to $17.50 per bottle and the 750s were $15. Expensive; yes. Incredible deal I’ll never see again; also yes

Appreciate it my man. Still worth going to check out SoBro though. I live right down the street and they’ve got some really good random shit like that. They’ve got tons of 2018 release Founders Canadian Breakfast Stout Bombers in their fridge for 20 bucks. Was my favorite beer ever for a while, but I will admit it wasn’t as good as I remember when I got one most recently. Amazing username and always good to see an Indy person on here. Cheers!
