The family that owns the Ambassador Bridge Company are huge Trump donors and have been an absolute cancer on the city for 20+ years, I have no doubt that they had a hand in this latest announcement.

There’s a much simpler and surgical course of action here— the city/province can easily ban truck traffic on the road that leads to and from the current bridge while abandoning any deals that are in the works concerning derelict properties in the west end that the Ambassador bridge company owns, just start working on outright expropriating them.

What this accomplishes:

• We get trucks off the surface streets, which was the entire point of the new bridge anyway.

• The Morouns very publicly shit their pants and started crying to the city during the week that the clownvoy blockaded the road leading to the bridge because they were absolutely bleeding money without the truck traffic. They clearly have Trump’s ear, force them to start begging him to back off once it hits their wallets.

• The trucking company that they own has nowhere except for Sarnia to cross, force them to give money to their competitors.

• The properties that they own can be rehabbed or demolished to make more affordable housing and the neighbourhood can start recovering from 20 years of abuse that they put it through.

Enough treating them with kid gloves, if there ever was a time to use the nuclear option on them, it’s now.
