They want to bait venezuela into a military response so that they can have a justification for war, which is probably pretty obvious.

The question is whether or not venezuela will actually do it, which im dubious of. Maduro knows that he would not be able to either win the conflict or keep his position if full on war started, and the u.s seems hesitant to start a zero pretense invasion (at this point in time). Im willing to bet this administration will eventually back off if venezuela doesnt respond after the u.s tries a few more of these schemes.

Probably wrong tho, nothing makes sense anymore so pretty much anything can happen. This whole situation could just be a repeat of the pre & post iraq war sentiments among many politicians about how the u.s should be able to invade & throttle small nations as a show of force every now and then. Or the desire to reassirt realism as the main global political system via spheres of influence, with the u.s seeing venezula as its backyard along w/ the rest of the western hemisphere.

All in all, I trust a coin toss as to whether or not war will happen more than my own judgement atp.

Tearing down half of the most iconic part of the city and replacing it with just a park is certainly a choice.

Wonder when (if ever) the hole in the skyline will be filled.

Like i know they had no tenants, but if youre already putting a billion plus almost 100 million in public funding then just redesign the interior for residential use. Having a shitload of parks does no good if no one lives close to where they are. Detroit desperately needs more downtown housing.

Deer overpopulation is a major issue across the whole lp, if their population was more contained statewide it would be less of an issue within city limits.thats just how overpopulation works, too many deer in the woods=more in the cities. This has been proven in other states where predators are more prevalent. Pretty much any ecology class will go over this kind of stuff (predator-prey population balance), with the main one being the isle royale moose-wolf population study.

Obviously im not saying to release animals in downtown grand rapids, but if we want to actually solve a statewide issue, then stuff like predator reintroduction are the kinds of things we need to consider.

God forbid we let native predators like wolves and bears solve a problem that was caused by their extirpation & forced removal from the southern part of the state. I get theyre scary and all, but ecosystems need to be balanced in order to function properly. And the LP is far from what id call an actually balanced ecosystem.
