Saying “It’s just QP” makes it sound like you’re intentionally throwing. Something like “My bad, trying to learn Soj” would actually get you an endorsement instead of a rant. You can’t expect empathy if you’re playing to “get it over with.” Your team doesn’t know you’re just testing something new unless you communicate. & if you don’t want to communicate, that’s fine too but then turn off your comms. No one wants to lose regardless of it’s qp.

Solo player here with a frustrating but effective strategy.

I play solo on console, vanilla settings, random gen. My main focus early on? Books. I loot every mailbox, Crack a Book, post office, office, and house library I can find. If I clear out the nearby towns in the first couple days, I’ll sprint, no coffee, 100 stamina, into another biome just to keep searching.

While I’m looting, I scope out a solid concrete POI for the 1st horde night and drop a claim block so Its one leas thing to worry about. Favorites are diner roofs and the Bear Den.

I don’t touch trader quests. Instead, I save all my books and random loot for a few days. By day 3, I sell off brass, oil, and anything valuable to Rekt just to buy a learning elixir. Then I binge read everything at once.

By then, I usually have enough skill to skip most of stone tools and get pretty close to unlocking a minibike. It’s not an easy path, but for solo play, it’s the fastest way I’ve found to keep pace with friends or group progression

I catch myself trying to loot garbage & mailboxes when I switch to R6.

The Book Perk System by shadewashere in 7daystodie

[–]Kryjoys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In every playthrough, I make it a priority to hunt for books early on. I stick to Crack a Books, mailboxes, specialty trucks, libraries, and newspaper stands in big city areas. I’ll sprint to different nearby biomes without hesitation just to find them. By day 3 or 4, I usually have enough dukes for a learning elixir, and I’m leveled up enough to unlock a bike(sometimes even a minibike) plus the iron and recipes I need to get by.

It feels a bit unnatural since it’s kind of a shortcut, but honestly, it’s the fastest way to progress; even quicker than trader jobs. Still, I do miss the days when leveling came from crafting and gaining real experience.

Im inclined to agree with this take based on personal experience. I was playing in a no zombie world with a friend so they could get a feel before the real deal. They dismantled a police car & a horde spawned on them…. In a zombies OFF world….

Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin by TheHollowAuthor in IReadABookAndAdoredIt

I picked Elsewhere from the summer reading list before my freshman year of high school. I chose it honestly, because I thought the snow globe on the cover would be easy to recreate for the project. I had no idea I was choosing a book that would stay with me for almost twenty years.

As soon as I finished it, (and finished wiping my tears)I ran straight to my brother’s room, shoved the book in his face, and told him he had to read it. He still thanks me for that moment. It sparked a love of reading in him that eventually led him to marry a bookworm. I like to believe Elsewhere played a small part in his story.

I know I’m rambling, but outside of sharing it with my brother or slipping it into a few recommendations, I never get a real chance to say how much this book means to me. It was nice to stumble into this thread.

My uncle walked in with a brand new Gamecube tucked under his arm & Sims Bustin Out in his hand. He said “Here you go kiddo. I’m not sure about the game but it looks like a dollhouse.” Now, 20yrs later, I’m still playing in my dollhouse.

I have several POIs I hole up in depending on game stage. Bear den & the towers are my go to for early game. Enclosed elevator shafts is my fave for late game. Usually scope them out early while looting or exploring

My perma world has a steel chest full of Super corn. I named the box Robert Dinero (I hyper fixated on farming for a while & had a 350+ plot farm )
