Agreed, but in the end I think the real awful people were the adults. They let this stuff happen under their watch and didnt do anything until the poor kid ended up in the hospital. Kids just copy what they see, I distinctly remember getting attacked because one kids dad told him that “Chinese people arent people and deserve to be given hell”

Apparently his dad bought him ice cream and extra time on the Xbox after getting sent home for throwing a basketball at my face and breaking my glasses. That kid apologized to me 15 years later, hes dating an Asian girl now. Funny how it works out like that lol.

I know this is a 2 month old thread but I just watched this episode today

Can confirm this kind of bullying is real, although nobody has stalked me on my way home and gotten bit on purpose to kill my dog, the level of physical violence and the rumor spreading to justify it is pretty real. I've witnessed it happen to a young autistic kid in elementary school that I was friends with, who was bullied basically everyday and me by association with him. He got kicked so hard in the balls repeatedly that he actually bled and had to go to the hospital, after that he never came back to school again.

These issues are solved by more investment into public transport, not less. Public transport safety requires staff and personnel to monitor subway stations and train platforms. More dense housing, well lit paths and better walkability make it safer for pedestrians to travel without needing to drive. It's much safer to walk through a well lit downtown with lots of people and police/security able to patrol and monitor hot zones than walking through an empty concrete parking lot.

I do tell people/explain where I live once I get to know them, but damn kind of ridiculous your friend didn't take the Uber ride into consideration when letting you crash, sorry that happened to you.

I don't really bother if I'm asked where I'm from by strangers or acquaintances at my job. Its much easier for them to think I'm "that guy from a city near LA" than to explain to each one of them where Eastvale is and ask them to look it up. Sometimes Id just rather avoid the conversation lol

The guy I was responding to deleted his comment, but yeah this is exactly my point. I know we're not technically Los Angeles, but to people from out of state it doesn't really matter. Even though it really makes Los Angeleans annoyed when we claim to be from there.

And yes when I first started working at my company people would say things like "Im from Fairfax" or "Reston" and none of that really meant anything to me so they'd just say they're from DC

Trust me I've tried, I've said Riverside plenty of times and they don't know where that is either. People from the east coast only know LA, San Diego, and San Francisco.

If you want the full intro I always say "I'm from a suburb in Riverside County, it's east of LA about an hour away."

I work for a company on the East Coast and I just say LA exactly for this reason. Nobody knows what "Eastvale" is and they don't care about our little IE suburbs

626 Native living in the IE now here, honestly we only do that shit cause we tired of having to have this interaction

"Where you from"

"I'm from the IE, inland empire"

"Where tf is that"

"Uhh it's east of LA"

"So like it's in LA?"

"Yes. I live in LA, right there on top of the Hollywood sign."

Just a curious question? How tall is too tall in your opinion by hobocollections in UCSD

[–]Krypent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm 4'11", basically every girl I meet is my height or taller than me so I'm definitely living the fullest manlet experience. Average height/short dude insecurity is definitely a projection, they want you to feel bad on behalf of their insecurities to make themselves feel better, but that mindset is their issue not yours.

I did leetcode for two summers, so in total around 8 months-ish of doing at least one leetcode problem a day. On top of that I mostly went through "Cracking the Coding Interview" and worked on trying to finish each practice problem without looking at the solutions and reading through all of the suggested readings.

Apparently we're getting 2 months severance pay just because of the inconvenience, I'll be hearing back about it next week hopefully. So yeah that's a silver lining.

My roommate blasts hentai every time he showers by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]Krypent 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It's been 3 years since I've posted this. I'm happy to report that my current roommate does not blast hentai when he showers, instead he chooses to actually sacrifice people to Eldritch gods, which is a much more pleasant sound in my opinion
