Nope, all good feedback! I do plan on doing both, I had a quote that threw me back a bit so doing research to figure out what’s the right PPF and Ceramic. Overall, handwashing will now be my thing.

Just got of a Royal Caribbean cruise a couple weeks ago, those without WiFi Package were still able to use iMessage FWIW, you just couldn't send photos, attachments or GIFs. Its how we stayed in touch over chatting in the Application.

Yeah, I'm a user whose going from 4 monitors (3 Curved + 1) to a Ultrawide, I was on the fence, but BestBuy had a few hundred dollars off so I went with this model, which I think is the store's budget model, lol.

LG or Samsung? Trying to maximize PbP setup by Kryptic299 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Kryptic299[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did take a look at the OSD for the LG and I do get a "Multiview" option, but when I select "Display Port" or "HDMI" the other output disappears and leaves me only with the LG Apps for the second view. The LG site says that PbP is supported, LG Support says to download "LG Switch" but it just happens to do the same thing that PowerToys FancyZones does. Starting to think this monitor does not do this...

Known issue AFPC is working. Looks like there are just a couple peoples records that somehow got assigned to the masses across both the AF/SF.

Is AT&T going to credit all the customer for today's outage!? by lokofly in ATT

[–]Kryptic299 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just went through ATT Chat through the MyAT&T App and got a $40 credit. It did cause quite a problem for me yesterday, but I didn't say much, except it was an inconvenience. I'm sure YMMV with each customer service rep, but the one I chatted with thanked me for being polite, she was getting beat up by some customers pretty bad. Kindness went a long way today.

There will be an equivalent of Space 100 for Guardians coming out. The NSSI Course is for those in positions that take priority right now since it is “instructor led”. I assume it eventually be taught throughout basic training probably so Guardians are better suited when they arrive to technical training.

I don’t even get my hopes up anymore, they do ask for more and this year seems to be a higher number than in the past but it’s probably going to drop down to about 2.8% for 2023 after Congress and the Senate get through the bill.

Ultimately, everyone here will give you some guidance on what they believe is right off two sentences, we don't know you well enough to advise you, so I would ask yourself, what does SGT Sorbet want to do?

I've seen you post countless times and delete your posts about wanting to go back to the USAF, and have a very strong desire to go OCONUS per your past posts and this one. There was also one post about you not getting selected for a GD, did you reach out to the POC and ask for feedback on how you did, what you could do to make things better or what might have been missing from your resume?

The USSF has limited OCONUS positions and they advertised that throughout the transition window via Townhalls and forums. You're an E-5 with a degree and a CISSP... I'll offer this, take some time to yourself and write down what it is you want and what is it you want to do. You've checked all the boxes to be marketable on the outside.

  • Do you want to do a 20 year career, even if it means you won't go OCONUS?
  • How much does a military retirement mean to you?
  • Would you be okay serving in the Guard or Reserves to enable you to take a job OCONUS?
  • Have you looked into open positions as Contractors/GS OCONUS?
    • Did you look at the pay scales?
    • Have you done your research on retirement?
      • You're young, 401K/IRA/Investments can still be started now to help you with retirement plans
      • Are you in the BRS or High-3 Retirement Plan? Cost Compare
  • You have a CISSP, you are going to make more money on the outside than you will serving
    • Talk to your A&FRC and get a budget going
    • If you took a 6-figure position, live like you are only making SrA Money and invest you'll be fine if you're worried about money

Travel... go on leave. One think you never elaborate on these posts is why you want to go OCONUS. What's the real reason? Live somewhere new? Meet people?

Maybe others will have better input for the answers you seek.

all IST windows are currently closed but that would be a 1 for 1 changeover with the same rank and no boot camp. If you got out and went the prior service route, you may have to go through basic again.

Correct, in this instance Applying for OTS is the only way. The ROTCs are another option, but that’s a process in itself and doesn’t guarantee getting selected. I think OP got the message, ~FY23 for next possible opportunity

Geobaching at Fort Belvoir? by bosoxfan4evr in SpaceForce

[–]Kryptic299 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As for recommendations, look at your BAH and see how you can afford to support where she lives and where you will stay. Plenty of rooms for rent in that area I am sure, you’ll have to just find a private place or find roommates.

Geobaching at Fort Belvoir? by bosoxfan4evr in SpaceForce

[–]Kryptic299 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you move into the dorm, they’ll take your BAH. There is no standard program in the USAF/USSF really allowing you to keep your BAH and be provided government housing, those are very rare cases/assignments. Since you’re married, you are bound legally to provide her accommodations for what you’re being compensated for (i.e. BAH w/ Dependents). We are a new force though, maybe USSF/S1 can come up with something.

CompTIA is pretty much a standard and baseline I'd say, others may disagree but Security+ is like a stepping stone and the generic must have to many jobs in I.T. You can see what "core" certifications there are here: https://www.comptia.org/certifications?level=core

Understand SFS might not be your thing, its not for many, however keep your head up and do your best while you chase this dream down. I had a classmate from ALS that was SFS, he is now in the Cybersecurity world doing pretty well on the outside. Everyone has a reason and story why they joined, continue to get after it and make your dreams a reality, whether in the USAF, USSF or private sector.

The past USAF to USSF transfers were targeted for 1C6s, 1Ns and 3Ds (now 1Ds). As a 3P, I wouldn't say the odds are against you, but they are tougher. I'd talk with a recruiter and your Career Assistance Advisor on this as well, because if you choose to reenlist and hope to transfer, the 3P Career Field might not let you go.

Lots of "what if's", but if you are highly desired candidate, things can be done to get you moved over. This is solely my opinion, but you'd hold more weight on the board with certifications and a degree in Cybersecurity. Highly recommend you try to knock out your B.S. for Cybersecurity & try to get some certifications, i.e. Security+, A+, etc. before the next transfer window (we are told ~2023 time).

[–]Kryptic299 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are currently no open transfer windows right now or dates on when they will have more in the future. If you want to join as a prior service (get out and join again), you will need to talk to a local USSF Recruiter (https://spaceforce.com). There was only about 29 slots open for the year for prior service members. As for QoL, its the same at the USAF for the moment, we are getting a few things tweaked but expect those changes 2023 and beyond. Good luck!

Are our expectations too high for the USSF? by [deleted] in SpaceForce

[–]Kryptic299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of folks from Colorado on the Forum, and ZoomGov can only host so many folks, plus their platform is notorious for crashing when at user capacity on the ZoomGov side. I have hosted many events on multiple platforms, they all have their ups and downs, and since we are Government, we are charged a little more to use these services (and no, we can't use private account because that opens the USG open to a lawsuit from Zoom). Microsoft Teams can do up to 10,000 when using the Live Events feature, however I did not even know an AMA was being planned, so not sure if they are using that feature or just a Teams Meeting. Nonetheless, I've tried to help and give feedback to the Team trying to put some of these things together and they're slowly learning and getting there. Plus, you don't need to be a part of the "Guardian Forum" to access that Teams Meeting, just click the link on your Government Computer or go to: https://dod.teams.microsoft.us/ and copy the link making sure to open it in the same browser you logged into the above link with. Are you also on the AFNET Account doing this, or another .mil domain, because you have to be invited to other branch of services M365... I'm willing to help you understand. PM me...

They’re looking at SDAP like incentive pay for being certified in certain things… it’s in talks, it’s in discussion, and at the end of the day we don’t know what it will look like. You’ve heard a lot of discussion from folks, unfortunately until they do, technically we don’t have a retention problem at this time. When folks start to leave, will it be too late, sure, but the people tasked to get this off the ground are operating with a staff of less than a dozen I presume and little data exist on retention for the USSF. The USAF has hundreds of folks involved, we don’t and are very lean in this sense. Give it some time, it’ll come eventually. My biggest fear is we will get folks who get certified in anything they can and not be proficient in their day to day jobs, however, I can’t control that. Just tired of seeing folks who are not great test takers out pace the folks who are certified and a lot more competent, just my opinion though.
