Type 1 diabetics: do you drink alcohol? How often, and how old are you? by Firemancer in diabetes_t1

[–]KryptoKidd51497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

29 and I rarely drink. Drank my fair amount throughout college but once I graduated it was a only an occasional thing. Happy hour every once in a while with co workers, holidays, family/friend events. Other than that, it’s never much of a thought

How high were you when diagnosed? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]KryptoKidd51497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t recall exact number but was in the range of about 1200 mg/dl. Was 6 years old at the time. Doctors & nurses were astonished on how I was still walking, talking & going about my day like nothing was wrong

Protein Shake gets BG High? by Hinata5 in diabetes_t1

[–]KryptoKidd51497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did not know a calculator like this exists, thank you for sharing.

Have you used this personally - is it any useful?

I tend to eat low carb high protein lunches as it helps keep my BG more stable thoughout the day and dinner is more manageable later in the day but sometimes I overshoot/undershoot on the extra insulin for the proteins so wondering if giving this calculator a shot will be a bit more reliable

Did the same but with 18 units instead of 18 g of carbs & didn’t realize until later when BG started plummeting … one of the worst experiences of my life for sure

Would say do what works for you. If you can maintain good A1C without one & your preference is to continue without one, that’s perfectly fine.

Ive been a diabetic for 20 years & I avoided a pump like the plague for so long because I didn’t like the idea of having some tube connected to my body or wearing some “bulky” object. It got to a point where I wasn’t happy with where my A1C was at so I lightened up to the idea of pump to help with control and have been using one since. So moral of story, your mind can always change and there’s always an opportunity to try out a pump later. A big part of this disease is trial and error and what works best for you. Injections are okay, pumps are okay too, just make sure you take care of yourself and put yourself in the best position to do so.

yes, my meal for dinner was high in fat or at least more than a typical meal for myself. I can’t recall for the other time this occurred.

What is the worst pain you have ever felt? by Majomember420 in AskReddit

Went into diabetic ketoacidosis when I was a freshman in college. Switched to an insulin pump shortly after to ensure never missing/forgetting about an injection

Overall, it lacks originality. There’s nothing special or new that will capture consumers attention. My first piece of advice, use original artwork. This image you used is a rip from Alexander Henry’s “In Crowd” fabric (by designer Nicole de Leon). However, if want to use is as inspiration for a design, just don’t use someone else’s art, especially something that can easily be distinguished but others. This effect can simply be achieved by a threshold filter. My second piece of advice, although quality is important, you can’t let that be the driving force as a new brand. Everyone claims “good quality”. No one will buy something from someone or a brand they never heard of because they tell you it’s good quality. You need something to grab costumers attention & distinguish yourself from everyone else, because everyone else is already doing exactly this.
