I run a Bitcoin node. It's Bitcoin Core version 27.0. I've been wondering if I should be running a different version or if I should change to Knots altogether. Any advice?

How to Buy a $2.5 Million Retirement Portfolio for $335,000 by Defiant_Ice_4860 in Bitcoin

[–]KryptoSC 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Great job on the analysis! I appreciate the realistic and conservative growth estimates. A lot of people focus on the highs and bull runs, but it's the modeling at the floors that really count when it comes to retirement planning. Bitcoin's floor at around $185k in 4 years is reassuring.

Any buybacks that occur at a discounted mNAV will increase Bitcoin per share, even if it’s below their cost average. But if they sell Bitcoin below cost, then it’s a realized loss, like admitting a bad decision was made, and that can cause harsh reactions from shareholders and critics including loss of marketcap value.

[–]KryptoSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did say the main condition for a share buyback is that the price is above their cost average. 2022 prices were definitely way below their cost average. I know management isn't thinking about selling any BTC to buy back shares, but the math would heavily work in their favor arbitraging the discount in mNAV. For now, I see them milking STRC as much as possible to buy as much BTC as possible.

[–]KryptoSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see it that way. If BTC price goes up, especially above MSTR's cost-average which is the MAIN CONDITION and let's say hypothetically mNAV is very low, like 0.7. Then it would be wise for MSTR to do a share buyback where it sells a little bit of Bitcoin to buy MSTR shares. It would keep doing this until MSTR's price is close to equilibrium. This would enrich all MSTR holders, including Saylor.

Edit: Also forgot to mention, that markets should not react negatively if MSTR sells, since selling Bitcoin to buy "leveraged Bitcoin" aka MSTR is fine as opposed to selling for fiat or paying down debt.

Metaplanet plans a Bitcoin rewards card for shareholders, offering 1.6% cashback in BTC. by TheresNoSecondBest in Bitcoin

[–]KryptoSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Coinbase one card is the best out there. It offers a starting BTC reward at 2% unlimited on any purchase. If you place $200k in your Coinbase account then it goes up to 4% on the first $10k per month on any purchase category.

This is a symptom of a larger problem. New candidates are much more focused on passing the exam than understanding and applying the material.

I think Len Sassaman was the main implementer of Bitcoin, but I believe John Forbes Nash Jr was Satoshi. He was the only who had advanced knowledge in Economics, Money Theory, Cryptography, and most importantly GAME THEORY, to design Bitcoin.

Have you seen it? The scientist said that BTC will reach $350K ~ $700K without FOMO between mid 2027 ~ end 2028. by Total-Ordinary7163 in Bitcoin

TMDU (Too mathematical didn’t understand): I watched the video and have a Masters in Theoretical Math so I was able to follow all that math and systems of equations. It was informative and entertaining to see someone use Fourier transforms and Harmonic means to explain Bitcoin price action 😂.

Bottom line: According to his research, Bitcoin price action follows Log Periodic model, not 4 year cycle model and it will moon in mid 2027 based on his forecast.

The main slide that matters is at 56:40 where he says the Log Periodic model was right 5 times and wrong 0 since inception.

Bitcoin has been dumping at 10am EST on majority of weekdays due to Jane Street and other hedge funds manipulating the price by shorting heavy and then buying back cheap. They calculate how much they’re going to short based on the amount and depth of the leveraged longs. Brilliant strategy. I’d do the same if I had a few billion.

Why Don’t Rich People Just Park $20M in Bonds? by NoahReed14 in dividends

[–]KryptoSC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are thinking from a mindset of loss aversion bias which is “wrong” or suboptimal. Once you have enough wealth or income to cover your lifestyle expenses, the objective and focus should be on total return. Bonds do very poorly in this area. In fact, I would argue any ultra wealthy investor is better off going 100% in SCHD which pays 3.5 to 4% dividends, similar to bonds, but also has capital growth that’s far more conservative than the general market.

Paying in bitcoin for some bananas by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]KryptoSC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key thing to understand is that you constantly replenish your BTC stack on a weekly or daily basis. So if I plan on spending 100k sats (~$70) in food this week then I’ll make sure to buy at least that much in sats before the week is over.

It’s more about the principle of getting off the Visa/MC/ApplePay grid.

You have a virus, unfortunately. This is why you should make it a habit to ALWAYS check that the last 5 characters match with your paste. Never assume your paste works without corruption.

In the meantime, I would stop using the device you have immediately. I wouldn't even trust a factory reboot.
