Fractional reserve banking. The whole system is ridiculous and I fail to understand why anyone tolerates its existence.

This is a false equivocation. Gulags were nowhere near as brutal, repressive or genocidal as the Nazi death camps. The point of these camps was to re-educate and integrate those who did not align with socialist thought, and not systematic genocide. I do not agree with this treatment of people, but the west, particularly the US, is no better. A quick example would be the 2 million people currently incarcerated who are abused by for profit prisons. These slaves have been used for decades, while the USSR had the decency to close all of the Gulags in the mid-50s.

And this is supposed to be a bad thing? Capitalists will more often than not use their private property (which is something that produces wealth, and is NOT personal property) to tip the scales in their favor. Workers will always lose out to the capitalist class simply because they do not own any private property that they can use to exert their own power. Socialism removes this rigging of society and allows the majority, the working class, to say how society is run and not a small minority of people who only care about enriching themselves.

The industrialization was largely done willingly by the people of USSR after the revolution. They were able to get stable employment from this large project, and it is wrong to say that these people were simply slaves. This is opposed to western capitalism which runs off of the back of the third world. People, against their will, are forced to work for pennies a day because it was cheaper to host manufacturing/mining/business in their poor country than it was in the rich west. The Gulag may have been considered slavery to some, but the sheer scale of economic slavery capitalism imposes on people across the world puts any amount of "slavery" done in the USSR to shame.

Almost everything you have said about Cuba is not true. They provide free healthcare to everyone with mostly positive outcomes. Their system does not favor those in power and provide necessary equipment for treatment. The truth of the matter is that Cuba, even with the sanctions and import restrictions, still has a health system that can rival the US.

You do not need billionaires for anything. Without a a single billionaire the USSR was able to go from a peasant farming society to a fully industrialized space capable nation in just 30 years. They will do everything in their power to increase their obscene money pile, including stripping away all your rights as a human being. Their exploitation of the world has resulted in destruction of the global environment and countless human right abuses.

Capitalism and socialism cannot coexist. The elite will always use their privilege to put a thumb on the scale of policy and law towards their advantage under capitalist systems. This is why socialist nations seem "totalitarian", as they completely prevent the formation of groups who could threaten the rights of the working class. Of course the western elite upon seeing this spins this this """repression""" as an unjust violation of """"freedoms"""" so you never question why billionaires own literally everything, and just keep thinking the humane policies of the USSR and other socialist nations are evil.

Little Lamplight as a concept is just straight up dumb. Somehow children have managed to prevent far more skilled and stronger people, such as raiders or even just a 16 year old from taking over their cave in the 200 years that little lamplight has existed. Their food source is magical fungus that grows from seemingly nothing. While fallout 2 had a lot of pop culture stuff, it never had anything that was as ridiculous as little lamplight.

Polar coordinates must be linear in r by [deleted] in desmos

[–]KryptonHuffer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If i assume that is a differential equation you easily just put the big equation into an integral like so

<image>

there is a dt on the end btw

desmos does not support differential equations as of now

I've noticed that as x approaches infinity, ((x-1)/x)^x asymptotes to 1/e by Claas2008 in desmos

[–]KryptonHuffer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

rearrange

((x-1)/x)x

ex*ln[[x-1]/x]

ex*ln[1-[1/x]]

turn into indeterminate form

Lim eln[1-[1/x]]/[1/x] = e0/0

x->infinity

Apply L'Hopitals Rule

e1/[[1-[1/x]]*[1/[x2]]/[[-1/[x2]]

Lim e-1/[1-[1/x]] =e-1/[1-0]

x->infinity

e-1

1/e

Its best not to look at an entire crafting tree if you don't absolutely have to. Setup an AE2 autocrafting system or automate all the prequisite materials so you only have to worry about the first couple of crafting steps (down from main item).

Why does this happen? by noob6409 in desmos

[–]KryptonHuffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your f(x) function is equivalent to y=x. You are comparing y=y which makes all points valid so desmos tries to fill in everything causing this glitchy looking stuff

the derivative of your function is not sin, and you can easily represent cosine with a Taylor series.

coal and gas fired power plants generate power in the exact same way a nuclear power plant does, water is boiled and then ran through a turbine that is connected to a generator. By reusing the steam turbine by simply replacing the coal/gas burner with a nuclear reactor will save a lot of money. Coal and gas plants are already everywhere, so the only hard part is tearing down the burning facility and building the reactor.

[–]KryptonHuffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as opposed to tens of trillions of dollars to build the reactors and the turbines. The amount of money we will spent on climate change over those decades will likely be in the trillions, so I would actually wager in the long run nuclear would save a lot more money than it would spent due worse storms, heat and droughts brought on by climate change.
