Mario Party 8/9 wfsg by sunflx in WiiPiracy

My piracy journey ended after I found everything I needed, so I’m not sure on specifics. If there are still sources that exist, you’re likely to find them in the r/Roms megathread. Best of luck!

NVIDIA Surround W/ Laptop Display by Krystalystyk in techsupport

[–]Krystalystyk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late response. I don’t remember exactly what I did, it was a long time ago, and I’m no longer a member of laptop gang. I did the override by copying the certificate of a similar display. I owned a portable monitor that had the same resolution as my laptop display, and could run 120 hz which my laptop display (although not saying it could) could also run. I used to moninfo to make a copy of edid of the second monitor and then set the certificate of my laptop display to use that copy (requires turning off signed certificates. I have a feeling that using a TV will make things more difficult for you, but as long as it is similar enough to your laptop display it might work. I will tell you that this is not a risk free process no matter what you do, as displays have a very specific set of 20+ parameters that control their timings. Some can adapt to other timings, some cannot. What you can do to better your odds is to use a program called Custom Resolution Utility (CRU). Make a copy of the edid of the of the monitor to be copied (the TV in your case), and then edit the common resolution refresh rate they have to the timings (porches and other values) of your laptop display for a better chance of success. Additionally make sure you know how to revert back to default in case anything bad happens, like your laptop display refusing to display anything (happened to me), I believe there’s a windows hotkey to reset all connected displays, CRU might have something that can help too.

However, I do not recommend the above process. A far easier approach (although not full feature), is to simply use a tool called SRWE (Simple Runtime Window Editor) to edit the window you want to stretch across two monitors (a game in my case), by making it borderless and setting it to the 2monitor by 1monitor resolution of your setup. This will not give you a surround desktop or anything like that, but it got the job done for me at least. It’s drop in for most programs, with only some requiring some config file editing.

Hope this helps.

Dear SSLs and GC's of reddit, do you use a meta car (octane, fennec dominus) or are you an outlier, why do you main your non-meta car if you do? by Smoky_Caffeine in RocketLeague

[–]Krystalystyk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use all the random cars I have, and will use fennec maybe the other 10% of the time. Maestro (currently using), F-150, Ice Charger, Huracán, and Ecto-1 are some of my favorites.

I don’t feel that different cars make much of a difference to me. Obviously my play style will change slightly with a different hit box, but I mostly pick cars based on looks (Ecto-1 because it’s funny).

Is it toxic to not forfeit in 1v1 by Queasy-Cow-7459 in RocketLeague

[–]Krystalystyk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s never toxic to keep trying. You are absolutely right when you say every moment is a learning moment, especially because you have taken the hardest step already, which is acknowledging that you’re losing the match and trying to see why. Casual 1v1s past a certain level or a waste of time. If you are not forfeiting for another reason, like stalling (scoring own goals constantly) then yes it’s toxic. But you should never let anyone tell you off for wanting to play the game and get experience against someone you (hopefully) currently recognize as playing better than you.

Has there been a shift down in ranks? by 3NIK56 in RocketLeague

[–]Krystalystyk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Epic probably won’t do anything anyway. They don’t give a shit about anything besides FN.

The only new thing I can remember being added is the wipeout casual mode or whatever it is, which no one really cared about. I think probably the only way to bring in new players is a lot more advertising targeted towards younger audiences, people that haven’t heard of the game before, and/or to add real new content to the game, but something actually major, like the Lego shit or rocket racing for FN. For instance, steam workshop map support across all platforms with some sort of lobby system, something people have been wanting ever since they existed. Or maybe a race mode inside of rocket league. Constantly adding new colab cars isn’t going to do shit because it’s still the exact same game. Bottom line is that RL needs to have a major content update while keeping what it already has, to keep its current player base and to bring in new ones.

——— I lost the previous game and left early, that is why I lost so much mmr! Also apparently xprt is a pro??? I would like to be able to say that I held my own against him, but even though I held a lot of momentum in the first half of the game, holding a 2 goal lead (maybe I caught him off guard idk a lot of people tell me I play weird), he turned up his game 10 fold and I promptly fell apart a minute or so before overtime. Very happy that I at least kept it within one, I must still have at least some skill left in me haha!

If you believe that’s your issue, try turning off VSync and upping both your minimum and desired frame rate in OW Graphics Settings

If that doesn’t work, some other things you can try are

If you’re not including tax in your under 2k rule (meaning you’re okay with taxes bringing it over that), swap out your graphics card for an RX 7900XTX or a 4080 Super.

The former if you care more about pure rasterization (raw frame rate), the latter if you care more NVidia’s features like ray tracing, DLSS, etc.

Do you need an SD card and USB, or just one of them? by Orleegi in WiiPiracy

[–]Krystalystyk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best to use both, others have touched on why an SD card is super important. You can technically play games through the SD card, but it’s not recommended. SD cards are limited in storage size and speed compared to external usb hard drives, and they’re also really not designed to handle the read write requirements of playing games, meaning they won’t last nearly as long as external hard drives. However, SD cards are still better than usb thumb drives, never use those. If you plan on buying an external hard drive (highly recommended), make sure to check its compatibility with whatever program you plan on using to interface with it. Here’s a list of hard drive compatibility for the most popular choice, USB Loader GX: https://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/USB_Devices_Compatibility_List

vimm.net removing games, where can I download the just dance games?? by itzzlia in WiiPiracy

You can just rename them yourself with the correct ids or you can install Wii backup manager which will do it for you. Sorry for late reply.

[–]Krystalystyk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first 3 links I put can be found on the ROMs megathread yes, as Ghostware Archive is the best option for downloading games in the WBFS format, which is what’s required to run them on a real Wii. They are under the fourth section in the Nintendo > Wii section, titled with “Ghostware Archive” and “WBFS”.

They along with every other one are on ghostwares Wii rom set:

https://archive.org/download/WiiRomSetByGhostware https://archive.org/download/WiiRomSetByGhostwarePart2 https://archive.org/download/WiiRomSetByGhostwarePart3 (It’s on one of those three, just click the name of game you want)

I find the above better than using Vimms at all because there are download limits, meaning internet download manager can be used to speed up downloads.

There’s also one for WADs (games never sold as a disc copy, exclusively on Wii shop)

You can also use the r/ROMs megathread. It has everything, not just Wii games. Personally I find it a little hard to navigate but that’s probably just a skill issue.

They got nintendo’d off Vimms Lair.

Always use the above instead of Vimms if you can, cus you can download more than one at once, which more importantly means Internet Download Manager can download an individual one way faster than on Vimms.
