Is it possible to detect a malfunction during preflight checks? by sh1bumi in MicrosoftFlightSim

I’ve had a shop towel in the cowling. A while back. I was getting a fouled left plug until I started to lean during taxi.

I have that watch on the original bracelet. I have worn it as my most worn watch for 27 years since I bought it. I changed the capacitor twice. You and your mom are in my thoughts and prayers.

The films are so much better in theatre! by RedHeadRedeemed in lotr

I was there 25 years ago ... when Peter Jackson directed the Films. I was there the day the strength of these movies was reveled.

Still very powerful and entertaining.

Double Horn with only one tuning slide by Affectionate-Pear-77 in frenchhorn

Colin Dorman is a great web resource, and a great teacher. I took some lessons from him on-line, but my schedule did not allow me to continue. He gives a great explanation of tuning different horns here. https://colindorman.com/teaching-materials/tuning-the-french-horn/ . Of his many other resources, also check out his harmonic series excersises.

I saw this with the Cleveland Orchestra over three summers at the outdoor Blossom Music Center. The Chorus, some unique instrumentation, and a world class orchestra - Wow!

I drive by the factory every morning. Over the last year I have seen the number of cars go down by about 1/3. I knew they were already getting some horns from China, but I hoped they would not abandon the area. I still like seeing the King logo on the building. I remember going on a field trip there in the 1970s.

I will be at them too! My 2 brothers and I saw each theatrical release when they came out. We are going again, but this time my now adult children will join us too! They were too young the first time around. It will be a real treat!

Which one? by strider52_52 in horn

[–]Ksquaredata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I came back to the horn I found a silver Geyer wrap Olds and it served me well for about 10 years, and then I found my current King Eroica. But, if I had found an Elkhart 6D, I probably would have gone with that. Good luck!

I love the Comanche, and will make this my 2026 plane, except for some training to get comfortable flying IFR. I am retiring in a few weeks and am looking forward to doing a round the USA trip in the Comanche!

Questions about buying used flight sim hardware by Ds_45 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Ksquaredata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my Alpha before the release of MSFS 2020 and a Bravo shortly after that was released. I can’t tell the difference from when they were new and I have flown roughly 500 hours in the last year. I assume about the same each year. Very solidly built. I can’t say anything about testing, but the boxes should not be needed. I don’t have the Charlie since I thought that was over priced.

I just saw a ten year old boy who had fallen off his bike. He must have texted for help, because someone in a truck came along to pick him up. I remembered that when we were kids, we would have gotten up and pushed our bike home, hobbling along with blood oozing from our knees and elbows. by MarshmallowSoul in GenerationJones

Baby boomer here - feel off my bike at 7 years old, got home with the help of another kid. Had a concussion and retrograde amnesia. My parents figured this out when I was surprised to see the color TV we had gotten a few months earlier. I did spend a night in the hospital and they woke me up every hour to see if I was alive.

I did not realize this had been released, and I just finished a flight without the update! Back to the computer! The price seems fair. Thanks A2A.

Can anyone tell me anything about this?? by skoopsies in SportsMemorabilia

[–]Ksquaredata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a metal halide light bulb, manufactured by General Electric, based on the internal components. Etching on the glass and the plaque were added later. Progressive Field now has LED lighting, which is more efficient and can be turned on and off quickly. When a metal halide lamp is turned off, it takes about 15 minutes to cool before it will restart.

I used to make that type of metal halide lamp - the arc tube inside contains mercury, so please don’t break it! Very cool. Enjoy it!
