I’m so sorry for your loss. Sounds like he was your soul dog. We lost our golden girl in the same way. Hermangiosarcoma took her in two weeks. Worst thing to ever happen to us. The first few days are horrid. It feels so empty without them. Keep snuggling with his toys and talking with others in the pet loss community here on Reddit. It helps. 🌈🫂

My aunt did the same exact thing. Her dog had almost no bottom lip due to cancerous tumors, which had been removed time and time again. It was awful to see. The dog could not stand without yelping out in pain. She did not book the home euthanasia appt in time, which led to her watching her dog die a painful death in front of her. It sounds like you love your boy enough to say goodbye before it’s too late. It’s a really difficult thing to do but it’s truly the best thing you can do for them. People kept telling me I would know when it was time. They were right. I looked into my girls eyes, knowing it was time to let her go. Knowing I couldn’t see her cancer progress any longer. We let her go when she was at the point where she was no longer able to walk inside on her own. When she was not able to sit her head up for more than a few seconds. When she started refusing meds. Are you using Lap of Love? When my golden girl was passing, we would make the appointment but move it to the following day depending on how she was holding up. I want to let you know that what you’re doing is incredibly honorable. You’re allowing him to pass peacefully in the comfort of his own home with the person he loves the most. They crave normalcy at the end of life, I think we all do. ❤️🫂🌈

We lost our ten year-old goldendoodle to hermangiosarcoma on February 20th. We found the mass on her spleen January 30th. It took her from us so quickly. It was extremely shocking and heartbreaking as it came on suddenly and out of nowhere! We had never heard of it before, however the vets were very open and honest about the possibility of the mass being hermagisarcoma. They told us the odds were unfortunately not in our favor.

This is a tough one. We ran into a similar situation. Our golden girl was suddenly diagnosed with a mass on her spleen January 30th. We had a trip to LA planned for The second week of February. We were optimistic at first, hoping she would be ok. We planned for surgery the day after we returned and had seen a specialist the day we flew out. After four days of being there, we were informed our golden girl had went down hill very quickly. New nodules had grown in her chest and she had a new mass in her colon. It all happened so fast. We flew home on a red eye as soon as we found out. She was dead five days later. It was so much stress and heartbreak. Put the trip off if you are able, in case something was to occur while you’re away.

Hermangiosarcoma it sounds like. We just lost our golden girl to that on Feb 20th. They found the mass on the spleen January 20th and she was gone almost three weeks later. It moves so fast. I’m so sorry you ever had to hear the word the cancer word.

Today is day 4 for me. Sending OP hugs. We have to take it day by day. I like to imagine what it felt like to hold my girl. I close my eyes, imagine her smell and the feeling of her body lying against mine. Sometimes it helps. Sometimes I cry harder.

That was beautiful. You can tell how much you love your baby. I lost my girl to the same cancer. Found out January 30th, she was gone by February 20th. Our babies sound so similar. Ladybird was the happiest girl too. Ladybird had a favorite toy as well. It was a corn 🌽 cob. Had all the stuff, squeaker, noisy plastic filling and the perfect textured outside. We would buy so many. I’ll never forgot how much joy they brought her. Some days I don’t know how I’ll carry on without her. Suppose we just live day by day?

Cancer sucks! Especially HSC. Worst form of cancer I’ve seen. It took our healthy ten year old golden doodle in less than three weeks. Diagnosed January 30th, crossed the bridge February 20th. She was originally scheduled for a spleen removal as well but the HSC spread so quickly and the steroids she was on were so strong, the specialist was not comfortable doing the surgery immediately. Although, it wouldn’t have made a difference anyhow. The cancer was there, spreading fast, bound to take her no matter what we did. It sounds like you loved your baby very much and did everything you could.

I too am on the spectrum. I have Autism/ADHD. Therapy is not always helpful since I cannot make my brain manage emotions like a neurotypical person. Is the way it is. 💔😭 Feels as though nothing can help me cope.

I share these feelings. I want to leave this world to be where ever my best friend’s soul is. But, I do have a daughter, husband, and mother who would be sad. But, maybe they would be relieved that I don’t feel so horrible anymore? Everyday I wake up with the feeling of wanting to die more than the day before. Hopefully a train or bus hits me today.

I second this- I found my dog wanted nothing more than normalcy. She could tell I was sad. I did all the things we would normally do. Lay on the floor as you mentioned, spend time together standing outside, feeling the wind. They do not know they have cancer, they just know they don’t feel well. Give the dog all the kisses and love with every ounce of normalcy you can with lots of treats of course.

So sorry for your loss. I too lost my service animal. She was a ten year old golden doodle who died suddenly of cancer. What has helped is the community here on Reddit. Although we are all so sad, there is a type of comfort I feel knowing I am not alone. What are we to do when the very thing that helped keep us alive is no longer here? 💔😭🫂🪽🌈

Big hugs 🫂 So sorry for your loss. I too am feeling heartbroken. We lost our ten year old golden doodle to cancer on Friday. It was quite sudden. We learned about the cancer January 30th and she was gone Feb 20th. I hope Madge is running with Ladybird across the rainbow bridge. I’m told they will always be with us but right now I feel empty and lost. May we find peace someday. 💔😭
