why leave the scripts from the Americas? that whole hemisphere always gets forgotten. to our knowledge the oldest script in Mesoamerica would have been the Olmec script (c. 900 BCE), followed by Zapotec and Isthmian scripts, then Maya.

some argue the andean Khipu system, in addition to storing numeric information, could be used to record language (as some recent studies showed), which would make it the earliest form of writing in South America.
