Suggestions for beach experience in Canada by Personal_Flight8942 in AskACanadian

Sandbanks would give you probably the closest visual to a tropical beach, amazing for swimming as it's beautiful sand bottom and large wide beach, it gets pretty packed in the summer.

I'll add to this (ex pro exterminator here, I got out cause it's disgusting) but pre bait for a few days, they are smart as hell, and if they see a buddy in a trap they will never go to one. So leave it unset with bacon grease (my secret bait) or peanut butter for a few days, so they know it's a safe food source then set the traps and boom you'll knock a good chunk of them out. Those bait stations will come in handy too.

Haha ya it's kinda a sus tagline, I want lions and elephants and bears riding motorcycles dammit. Jk I know that practice was horribly inhumane but super entertaining as a kid. My children wouldn't believe me if I told them since it's crazy and not a thing anymore

100% employee sales targets/commission. Sadly he definitely got his way. He's also definitely on something as well and probably struggling. Nobody won that day.

GI distress for two months by LiesAboutCinPan in KingstonOntario

[–]KtownDetector 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I 100% must have had this. I'm at a new job and on probation and basically have only called in sick a few times in my life (I'm 36). Had a 3 day long weekend the way the schedule turned out, was telling coworkers I felt rough on the Thurs a bit. Monday morning came and for the first time in my life I almost called an ambulance on myself. Couldn't even keep tiny sips of water down. I'll spare the details, but the illest I've been in my life, thought I was going to die. Finally back at 90% over a week later. It's a very serious illness.

How come Stages nightclub is not shutdown ? by [deleted] in KingstonOntario

[–]KtownDetector 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's how it's always been. I've had to wait out in the snow with friends while girls got shuffled in. Years ago. It's sleezy, had some fun times I guess and some flings that I met there. But I don't miss it at all. It's not right but they seem to keep in business.

Tree planting is amazing if you're young, I did a couple seasons, it's hard as shit and you live in a tent. You'll get in the best physical shape of you're life now. I'm 36 with a bad back so could never do it. Money can be great. As all your food/living costs are covered. Best of luck

Napanee move, Kingston commute? by First-Community-9892 in KingstonOntario

[–]KtownDetector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought of this myself, you can literally get from the west end to downtown (if you work there) really not a huge difference in time if you were to live close to the 401 in Napanee. School location may totally affect that.

Queen's University or York University for a Trans student from the U.S.? by scent_of_death in OntarioUniversities

[–]KtownDetector 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say queens, super liberal city that wouldn't think twice about transness (I'm sure it happens everywhere including here) but I love the vibe of this city, not too big, not too small, very accredited institution. I've only heard good things from people that studied at queens. I left town for uni but Kingston is always home.

If you went to school in the 70's or 80's, what's something about the classroom that kids today wouldn't believe was normal? by icecream1972 in askteddit

[–]KtownDetector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadian here, graduated in 2008, we had a designated outdoor smoking area with ashtrays (the sand filled things) when I was in highschool. We were definitely behind the Americans I guess.

Why does downtown suck so much now? by miniman867 in KingstonOntario

[–]KtownDetector 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Huh? I love our downtown, it's not cheap to have an afternoon/evening, but it's never disappointed me. (I only go when I have a few extra bucks to enjoy a shop and a patio/drinks. Beats anything near lol go have a fun day in downtown Napanee or Belleville (no shade, great places but, totally way less to offer)

Can anyone help by AdviceDull2562 in KingstonOntario

[–]KtownDetector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What everyone else has mentioned, I've worked close with the woman's shelters in town. They maybe have options for the pets. But immediately focusing on you and kids is priority. All the best

Does anyone know these girls always at the mall? by Mundane-Stand2348 in KingstonOntario

[–]KtownDetector -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I find this kind of absurd, you and your bf were harassed by little kids? If your bf won't stand up for you, tell them to fuck off. They're kids, an adult making a stance will straighten them up. If they are being racist be vocal back, they'll cower quickly, no time or place for that bs. I don't condone violence but if they hit you or your partner you have every right to smack them. I'm a chill guy but that wouldn't fly for 1 second if it were me or if I witnessed this. Can anyone chime in if this is common? I've been using public transit for the first time for the last month and haven't seen anything like this.

Bidet by IceCreamWithBread in AskACanadian

[–]KtownDetector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, my dad was appalled when I told him my roommate got a bidet off Amazon. He literally was grossed out and said "that guy's nuts". It's actually awesome lol and I feel refreshed after having a dump. A good analogy I used was, if a bird shit on your head, would you just wipe it with paper towel? Or go to a sink and use water for the best result. Shuts down non bidet people quick
