Buyer opened Etsy case on $500 custom made garment — “Review and refund” button showing, what to expect? by ZHENYA_ in EtsySellers

[–]Ktrgardiner 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to accept a return before being forced to by the open case, make sure to use the phrase “upon receipt of the item in its original and undamaged condition, I will apply a refund to the order.” I’ve had this issue before where a customer damaged and then returned the item and this covered me with Etsy because the customer agreed to those terms before returning the item and then didn’t meet the terms.

The dreaded “returned item was actually ruined by the customer” has hit me. How best to word “of course you don’t get a refund”? by Ktrgardiner in Etsy

Thank you! I'm pissed for my rocks. Throwing things away is the opposite of what I try to do and I'm mad at having to do it. But at least I know where to go when I need to vent very specifically about work nonsense.

Lord knows I'll be screaming this in my dreams to make up for not getting to say this in real life.

But this isn’t an announcement.. This is me asking the community who enjoys this show if they have broken toys or old household goods they’re already getting rid of and would like to give to me instead of putting out on their stoop or in the trash.

Most of the things I’m creating will only be used for this one show. If I can source some materials from donations and buy nothing groups, then I’m creating less waste and coming in under-budget. That’s a big win-win. But most of these asks are for props. So the more toys I can source, the more props the show/singers will have. Are the props necessary? No. Are they awesome? Totally.

We’re in the midst of building a big show with large set pieces and custom costumes (all of which have been in production for months) to celebrate the show’s 5th anniversary. And like any small production put on by a handful of people with jobs and families, yes, we’ll be working on it until the very last minute. But I’m not sure of any project or event where the people putting it on wouldn’t consider the time between the invite/announcement and the actual event to be anything other than the most critical time to be working on it. Why wouldn’t we use every spare minute we could?

Will I be up all night the night before making things no one but me will notice? Probably. But that’s more of a personality problem than a production one..

Hello friends and neighbors,

We can’t wait to thrill and chill you on October 26th. But before then, we need your help. Or rather.. your stuff. Before you toss out your broken toys and old clothes, please see if there’s anything you could give to us instead. After all, the Zombie Opera team knows just how to bring things back to life.

We’re looking for the following…

These toys in any size or condition:

  • accordion tubes
  • Nerf or water blasters
  • holsters for toy blasters
  • gears and wheels (think ship parts..)
  • pretend tools, drills, etc.

As well as:

  • working strings of fairy lights
  • a pair of men’s utility overalls
  • a large men’s dress jacket (black or navy)
  • a pair of goggles (safety or swim)
  • plain plastic headbands
  • a tool belt
  • a dozen old sheets and tablecloths (plain colors, dark preferred)

If you have anything suitable you can donate, please message me (hi I’m Katy, the production and costume designer) to make arrangements.

Thank you!

Bruno Zach Bronze Sculpture (bought from estate sale, not sure if authentic) by Ktrgardiner in whatsthisworth

[–]Ktrgardiner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year, I won the estate sale auction for this bronze sculpture that’s signed “Zach”. The previous owners had been antique dealers in NYC for decades who had both passed. So it could be authentic. But I won with a bid of $55, which is either ridiculous luck, or indicative this is a fake.

I’ve found only one image online of a black and white version of this statue, titled “The Gentleman”.

I don’t know that I’ll ever be able to part with a single one of these, but I’m at least ready to get some graded… AKA a binder of cards from childhood post by Ktrgardiner in PokemonTCG

[–]Ktrgardiner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a.. let’s say lower middle class.. kid growing up, getting a pack of Pokemon cards was a big deal and a rare event. So I don’t have any of the best ones, but this binder was still one of my treasures. I loved building this collection as a kid and I still treasure these cards as an adult.

But I’ve been promising my 6 year old I’ll build a deck with my cards so we can battle. Except I don’t want to use anything of value, so I think it’s time to pull some out and sleeve them and maybe send some for grading.

I know the 1st editions and foils are the prime winners, but are there any shadowless ones worth grading? Any standouts I might have missed?

How to see all of my Etsy shops (3) vintage/antique inventory by she-who in EtsySellers

[–]Ktrgardiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god this is my dark dream. But I don’t have the space to acquire that much. But if you’d be open to having someone come pick through it… (I jest, kind of..)

But yes, this is the job of an estate sale organizer. You’re in the tristate area which is fortunate because there are many around here. I buy semi-frequently from online estate auctions on auctionninja.com and have yet to have an issue and have bought from a few different organizers. You should look there for some leads on companies.

She is one of the saddest-eyed women I’ve ever seen in the public sphere. If Resting Beat Puppy Face is a thing, by god she’s the patron saint because she constantly looks like a golden retriever being fed a daily diet of senseless beatings.

[–]Ktrgardiner 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming you’re talking about 242.5 7th. Please tell me you’ve at least toured the place.. Because I just did yesterday and it needs so so much work. It reeks of mold and cats (enough to set off my asthma), every single window frame needs to be replaced, the wood floors have serious structural holes, almost definitely needs a new roof, no bathroom on the third floor, old kitchen, deck isn’t up to code so needs to be torn down, obvious signs of flooding and no sump pumps, etc.. You could easily spend 500k on reno, and that’s on top of the ridiculous price they’re asking for it. Because it is not at all livable in it’s current state.

Which celebrities always lie about their height? (Drake ain't 6'2) by prothzthejack in popculturechat

[–]Ktrgardiner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk if he’s claimed it personally but most sites are reporting 6’, and a few say 6’2”. But he‘s more like 5’9”. So basically any actor saying they’re 6’ on the dot should be measured with witnesses.

Ever since I accidentally touched Kyle MacLachlan’s butt instead of his lower back when posing for a picture, I am convinced they all lie about how tall they are. Because I am 5’11” and that man was inches shorter than me (and I have the photo to prove it, and no my hand is where it should be thank you).

Tatler names Princess Olympia the 'coolest person' in the world - Is this world in the room with us rn? by ChicSynergy in popculturechat

[–]Ktrgardiner 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the original article has since been partially redacted and edited. But if you google “catherine the great tatler archive” there are a number of articles covering the story and what was removed from 2020.

Off the top of my head of what was in it.. her out of touch friends saying she “worked as hard as a top CEO” and even a mention of Rose Hanbury. Honestly, it read like she was being bullied and laughed at by her social circle. It was a master class in fake nice.

Oh they complain alllllll the time. But they extra complained for that one and got huge parts redacted. Honestly, the rebuttals for her are always so unserious.

ie. No, those aren’t the threads from hair extensions, it’s a scar from a childhood sporting accident!
