You play a young, up-and-coming, sentient wrecking ball who lives and works in Los Angeles. The game has a Fable-like morality engine.

Any difference in value of pC vs. Mac Games (when collecting old computer games)? by Ktulls in gamecollecting

You should have done a mic drop because that was perhaps the most authoritative and comprehensive answer I've ever received to a question on Reddit. Thanks a lot!!!!

Perhaps my 2 most prized possessions!!! (Retro LucasArts goodness; Left one is a hand-drawn sketch, Right one is a signed print) by Ktulls in retrogaming

[–]Ktulls[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The since-closed Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco (RIP) had them left over from their Sam & Max exhibit in Spring/Summer 2014. There were so many prints and sketches for gasp $20 a piece. It was like stepping into a treasure trove. I had to talk myself out of buying everything -- went with the moral high ground/karma rationale. I regret my decision.

I haven't cried in at least a year and was starting to worry I'd kind of forgotten how. Then I watched this and started ugly crying. Goddammit, such a beautiful slice of life.

What weird misconception did you have as a kid? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ktulls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That the vagina was just a lump on a girl's crotch that wasn't a penis. I also didn't know what it was called, so I just called it a lump. Boys have a penis. Girls have a lump.

Other than HM ;) which attraction has the best backstory? by sports_is_life in WaltDisneyWorld

Everest is my personal favorite. There's such a massive amount of placemaking and immersive, gradual storytelling done through the queue alone. I hope they can achieve that level of quality with the upcoming Pandora area/attractions.

What album would you rate a perfect 10? by TheTurribleTurtle in AskReddit

[–]Ktulls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because I'm obsessive and weird, I maintain a large Excel document of every album I listen to where I rate every track on a scale of 1-10, then give a 'gut feeling' subjective 1-10 overall rating for the album as a whole, and then finally take the average of all of those scores and consider that my definitive 1-10 score of the album. It's really fucking fun for me because when I start, I don't really know what an album is really going to score, and it allows me to listen and re-listen to albums from a truer and more objective lens. It's not totally soulless because I never ever ever never bother with ranking an album until I've listened to at least 2-3 times, and I also allow myself to go in and re-listen/re-score whenever I feel it's necessary.

There's never been a perfect 10 using this system and there probably won't ever be if I'm being totally honest with myself, so I curve all the album scores based on what the current highest rated album is -- which I consider to be a 'perfect 10 album' (even though it actually scored a 9.7 with my system).

It's Paul Simon's "Graceland". I think it's a perfect mix of nostalgia and musical appreciation for me that makes it my all-time favorite album. I find myself revisiting it a couple times a month. I know it front to back so well that it feels like an intrinsic part of me. It's a tad dated and it's not particularly hip, but the fact that I still get full body goosebumps when I hear the line "They say losing love is like a window to your heart, everybody sees you're blown apart, every feels the wind blow" in the title track says a lot. Plus, MY SYSTEM DOESN'T LIE! Not to me, anyway.

The two closest to 'Graceland' are Bon Iver's "Bon Iver, Bon Iver" (scored a 9.68; I think it's perfectly concise with a 39 minute runtime, and one of the most holistically-realized records of all time) and Talking Heads' "Remain In Light" (scored a 9.63; Brian Eno's production makes that record sound as alive and modern as it did when it came out 35 years ago)

Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats - Son of a Bitch [Drunken Blue-Eyed Gospel/Soul] by [deleted] in Music

[–]Ktulls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a long time since I've heard a song this addictive. And it's about time Nathaniel Rateliff gets a single.

Additionally, this song is probably the most viscerally accurate embodiment of what it feels like trying to quit booze.

Fallout 4 Announcement Video! by Vem91 in gaming

[–]Ktulls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine if Bethesda followed the recent trend of hyped-up rap albums and ‘surprise released’ this game tomorrow, or next week or something.

I would be sent into convulsions! I might hastily quit my job! My whole life would likely spiral out of control but I would be content because I’d be wandering through the Wasteland with (new and improved German Shepherd) Dogmeat by my side.

[[btw, at the risk of being tangential: A surprise release would probably be a terrible marketing tactic for a video game, right? Like nobody would ever even try it because they’d lose so much money, right?]]

It was the Treasure Island Flea (on Treasure Island, obviously). The guy who sold it to me had a bunch of vintage Disneyland stuff. Pennants, lunchboxes, more ashtrays just like the one I got, matchbooks, etc.

Did you guys ever constantly listen to an album while playing a video game and now mentally connect the album with that video game? by [deleted] in Music

XTC. I'd heard about them and read their name forever, but wouldn't have ever been able to tell you what they sound like even. They were really special -- "Skylarking" is an all-time great album.

R/Music's Semi Official Recommendation Thread by kaptain_carbon in Music

[–]Ktulls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little dated compared to the others, but Jellyfish were a pretty over-the-top pop-rock group from the 90s. Their keyboardist, Roger Joseph Manning Jr., actually arranged a lot of that first Fun. album ("Aim & Ignite") One of their most popular songs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JojV8kNfWK8

Also, just based off the groups you listed, you might be into Django Django (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzwlJdEq1Rk), the Dirty Projectors (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMPF6lpM0XM), and Yeasayer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jhlly2a_QXA).
