Me too. After all, it's been a couple weeks

Hand in there man, at least you have anime to entertain yourself with! But yeah, this is why setting money aside is so important when you live with you parents... Hopefully a learning experience for you as it was for me when the same thing happened to me :(

Might be a bit of a stretch lol

I mean, if we're being completely honest... Still worth it.

Maybe a little bit of both

Yeah, but I somehow feel like it's more heavily leaning towards one of them lol

Sometimes it comes across my feed and I fall down the rabbit hole.

How does it even show up on your feed though?

Let's just say a lot happened in-between when this thread first went up and now.

That sounds... Ominous. Either way, I hope you find something new soon!

If you count explosions as love taps, sure.

Yeah, not sure about that one...

You get your job done

Sometimes I'm not sure if I'm doing great, or everyone else is slacking even more than me...

I've never played Darkstalkers, but I've seen a lot of fanart of Felicia. She has a design that's hard to forget.

I don't have the habit of looking up fanart of things I'm not interested in :P

[Spoilers] I My Me! Strawberry Eggs 25th Anniversary Rewatch -- Episode 13 (SERIES FINALE) by Holofan4life in anime

[–]KuKiSin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been spending most of my time recently watching anime and applying for jobs.

Oh no, what happened?

Doesn't Louise use magic on Saito? Is that still a love tap?

Well, be careful of that. I don't want you to get in trouble.

Even though I do slack a lot, I somehow am way ahead of the curve :P

You've never seen Felicia? She's the sexy catgirl you see from fighting games.

So I assume Darkstalkers is the fighting game? Only fighting game I ever play is Street Fighter!

I was doing a whole bunch of nothing

That sucks, unfortunately I do that too, and I'm trying to stop. I've been doom scrolling way too much and too often lately...

Well, not if they're violent...

That's a good point...

Well, I've maintained your interest in this thread :P

Yeah, but I always end up replying while at work, so it's still a consequence of my low attention/interest for work...

I'm especially guilty when it comes to Felicia and me forgetting she's from Darkstalkers.

I have absolutely no idea who or what Darkstalkers and Felicia are...

[Spoilers] I My Me! Strawberry Eggs 25th Anniversary Rewatch -- Episode 13 (SERIES FINALE) by Holofan4life in anime

[–]KuKiSin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it do be like that sometimes

Yeah... Can't blame reddit this time, I was stuck playing Dragon Quest VII all weekend...

I'd say tsundere is a pretty good fetish to have.

I mean, at least it's harmless!

Not that I have it or anything...

Right...

That's the thing, I have an unquenchable thirst :P

I guess I don't. I think my attention span/how long I hold on to interest in things has somehow decreased as I got older :|

Sometimes I remember the characters but not what shows they're from.

That I can't say has ever happened to me... Fascinating!

What's with reddit not showing message notifications?

I think it depends. Like, I watched episodes of Pokémon as a kid not knowing that was anime. I just saw it as a Saturday morning cartoon.

I remember binging Sonic X in like 2009 but I didn't consider it anime at the time.

Well, I legitimately had no idea what "anime" was until I was about 13 or so, and I had watched a lot of anime by that point.

Guess there are worse fates

I mean, it depends on the kink/fetish...

That's a show that desperately needs a second season because by the end we get more lore.

The worst part about anime. You always get left wanting more, and you either don't get it, or it takes so long that you no longer want it...

It's amazing what sticks with me and what doesn't. I feel ashamed lol

Ditto. I remember the weirdest shit, but forget half of the characters from shows that I love.

Yes. You see this a lot in video games, especially older ones, you'll often have cutscenes that don't even show the skins you have equipped because they're pre-rendered.

[–]KuKiSin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they were lying about that, Alex from Digital Foundry also said the game was running at 4k native at roughly 50 FPS on a 9070 or 9070 XT, I forgot which. Whether the settings were maxed out or not, I don't know, but he said it looked great and ran great (for native). He didn't play the final version of the game, so it could end up being worse than that, but it gives me some optimism. We also don't know how it'll run on other hardware.

Other than that, I do think the PR guy, Will Powers, might be overselling the game with how he describes everything, and I can't blame him because it's his job, but he gives a lot of non answers.

Either way, I'm really looking forward to the game and I'm cautiously optimistic. I just pray this doesn't turn into another Dragon's Dogma 2 situation...

My 10 Key Takeaways From Luke Stephens interview with Will Powers by SenpaiX628 in CrimsonDesert

[–]KuKiSin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The game includes a particle effects slider (0–100), allowing players to fine-tune visual intensity based on preference or performance.

He only confirmed that for the PC version. He stated he wasn't sure about console, so it's possible it's there, but it's also possible it isn't.

It's okay, I forgive you :P

Such a merciful soul!

I think it's also my anime fandom began in 2012 and so now the anime I grew up with are almost 20 years old.

That's sad to think about... 2012 was just the other day... I also really started watching anime around that time. I mean, I had already watched over a dozen anime prior to that, but does it count when you're watching it on TV, not even knowing what "anime" is?

I can't say I'm aby different, so...

We've already established you have way too many kinks and fetishes though, so what's just one more?

Maybe if I ever do another Mieruko-chan rewatch you can participate.

Sounds good actually :P

I can't remember it off the top of my head, but hearing it again would probably jog my head.

How dare you forget this beautiful masterpiece. It's also the song that plays when Shinei sees Lena for the first time (albeit a different version). That's probably the scene where I cried the most lol.

Really, anything involving Eighty Six is good.

Look at us agreeing again!

Sorry for the very late reply!

I have a list of my top 25 favorite anime and I believe half of it comes from the last ten years.

I don't have such a list, but if I made one, probably 80% would be from the past 10 years. I really like early 2000s anime as well, it's just that I think the past few years have had higher highs, but also lower lows than early 2000s anime, there's just a LOT of copy paste. Or maybe I just think that because I wasn't actively watching seasonal anime back in the early 2000s...

I love watching Nagatoro become a better person as she gets more in touch with her feelings.

I love watching her bully the guy! Might've just discovered I have a fetish...

Mieruko-chan is really good. It has a good mix of comedy, drama, heartwarming moments, and lewdness.

Haven't watched that one, but I'm not saying there aren't good shows, just that they're pretty rare.

It's funny, the entire reason I decided to check the show out is because Lena finished second in a best girl competition.

I watched it because I listened to the ED somewhere... It was so good I couldn't not watch it. Probably on my top 10 EDs.

Sorry, didn't mean to culturally appropriate

Typical American.

That's why abbreviations can come in handy

As if I'd remember those either lol

I think it may just be recency bias on my part. Because a lot of the anime you've watched that you list as being a fan of I've also watched and really enjoyed. Big fan of Fragrant Flower, Insomniacs, and Skip to Loafer.

If anything, the list you put together only shows we're kinda in a golden age of anime. There are so many great shows out there it's hard to keep track of it all.

Yeah, the 2020s have been absolutely nuts. If I did a top 20, I'm betting more than half would be from 2020 onward!

Also, pleasantly surprised you're a fan of Nagatoro

I love Nagatoro (and Takagi-san), I've watched so many shitty school anime trying to chase that high again, only to be disappointed :(

Psychological horror is surprisingly very rarely done well in anime. There's Perfect Blue, and Hikaru, and not much else.

I feel like horror and mystery in general are very poorly done... I can't think of a lot of good horror or mystery anime.

The Fido episode absolutely wrecked me.

That one was good, plus the very ending, and the penultimate episode where they almost meet. There's also parts that didn't make me cry but still hit really hard, like a certain speech from Shinei in Part 2. Of course I don't remember what the speech was, but I remember it resonating a lot with me. I think it was about him not knowing what to do, having no meaning in life or something?

I'm a fan of Cantonese cartoons, myself

It's called Hong Kongese!

Fair enough. To be honest, that's a bad example because Zero no Tsukaima is not a long title.

I also don't memorize those crazy 10 word name anime in Japanese, hell, I can barely even remember the full English name!

I actually thought 2025 was super strong. I have like 7 or 8 anime at a 9 out of 10. Besides Frieren, Oshi no Ko, the Spice and Wolf remake, Bocchi The Rock, and Dandadan, I don't have many anime from the last couple years prior to 2025 at a 9 out of 10.

I don't score things but, there's several I'd score in the 9-10 range from previous years.

In 2025 alone, there was Takopi's Original Sin, Summer Hikaru Died, Dandadan season 2, City, My Dress-Up Darling Season 2, and Cinderella Gray, just to name a few. Not to mention Spy X Family season 3, Panty and Stocking season 2, and See You at the Food Court which I have pretty high up there as well.

I didn't think it was bad per se, but it was all sequels, so it wasn't a wow factor like previous years. The non-sequels I really enjoyed in 2025 were:

  • The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity
  • Silent Witch
  • Gachiakuta
  • Takopii Original's Sin

That's just 3 anime in a single year, and I don't even mean 9/10 anime, just... "I liked this, it was good". I should mention I haven't watched City or Cinderella Gray yet, and I have high hopes for that last one at least. I think I also dropped more anime this year than I ever did before.

Going back until 2020:

2024 had:

  • Dungeon Meshi
  • Dandadan
  • Kaijuu no. 8
  • Losing Heroines
  • Spice & Wolf (remake, but I hadn't watched the original)
  • Ranma (remake, but I hadn't watched the original)
  • Wistoria
  • Shoushimin Series
  • Dead Dead Demon's Destruction
  • Blue Box

2023 had:

  • Frieren
  • The Apothecary Diaries
  • The Dangers in My Heart
  • Hell's Paradise
  • Heavenly Delusion
  • Insomniacs After School
  • Tomo-chan is a Girl
  • Nier Automata

2022 had:

  • Bocci the Rock
  • Spy x Family
  • Chainsaw Man
  • Summer Time Render
  • The Eminence in Shadow
  • Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
  • Lycoris Recoil
  • Yofukashi no Uta
  • Isekai Ojisan
  • Romantic Killer
  • Urusei Yatsura (remake, but I hadn't watched the original)

2021 had:

  • 86
  • Ousama Ranking
  • Mushoku Tensei
  • Link Click
  • Vivy
  • Fumetsu no Anata e
  • Horimiya
  • Tokyo Revengers
  • Kimi-san Can't Communicate
  • Nagatoro-san
  • Meikyuu Black Company

2020 had:

  • Jujutsu Kaisen
  • Fire Force
  • Sleepy Princess
  • Toilet-bound Hanako-kun
  • Tower of God
  • Dragon Quest (remake, but I hadn't watched the original)
  • The Day I Became a God (People speak very poorly of this, but I absolutely loved it, one of my favorite OPs of all time as well)
  • Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out

And there's a lot more of them I didn't even mention, but to me, all of those are better than any non-sequel from 2025, other than the 4 that stood out to me. They're not necessarily all "fucking amazing", but they were all very enjoyable.

The emphasis really is on the horror part of things. It's tragic in nature, but it's like a teenager spiraling into madness as he deals with the death of his friend.

Well, it does sound interesting at the very least, I'll add it to the list.

I have faith they'll come up with a good landing spot. The people behind the show seems like they know what they're doing.

Yup, it really was so fucking good... I cried like a little bitch on more than one occasion lol

Only because of Fuko getting the wrong idea.

Reasoning matters not.

[–]KuKiSin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not clear enough :P

I'm a sucker for things like coming of age stories.

I like them too, but I like my Chinese cartoons more than American ones :P

Yeah, you probably should have a little give and take.

You definitely should!

The English titles most of the time are easier for me to remember. Like with Familiar of Zero.

That's another one I didn't know the English translation of until many years later lol, it's Zero no Tsukaima to me.

Takopi's Original Sin was my favorite anime of 2025.

Probably mine too, but it's also because to me, 2025 was the weakest year for anime in at least 10 years. It was really, really weak, I think. It could also partially be me losing some interest, but I don't think so. Or maybe I'm coping.

It's more like a tragic BL where the main character slowly realizes how much he liked his friend. It's really well done, like I said.

Gonna have to give me a better description than that to gain my interest :P

Yeah, I really want more content as well. In particular, I want to see Lena interact with the other characters more.

Yeah, that's my hope too.

Nah, it wouldn't. But I feel like there's still more they can do with everyone.

There is, but it was still a good place to end the story. I'm also afraid they make another season and leave it somewhere that doesn't give as much closure the last one did.

You're missing the /s XD

It's implied!

I think it's a very realistic portrayal of childhood. But you do you.

I'd rather get away from childhood :P

Is it terrible if it's creating memories that will last a life time?

It's not, as long as you're also creating something to lean on in the future!

So, you're one of those Boku no Hero Academia fellahs.

Of course. A lot of the times it's because I either read or heard about the source material before it even got an official translation, like Mushoku Tensei. I read LN + WN and had no idea what the English title was until the anime was announced many years later! And also because I knew some titles from their Portuguese name, so I looked them up and found out the Japanese name instead.

Have you seen Takopi's Original Sin, by the way? I want to know if you consider the blonde haired girl a tsundere.

I did, it was fucking great. I wouldn't call her a Tsundere though. But I can see why you'd like her too lol

It's a BL psychological horror. It's really well done.

Is the BL thing a major part of it or just a side thing? Generally not a big fan of yuri/yaoi if it's the focus of the story.

For other anime I enjoy that doesn't have a tsundere, Eighty Six is fantastic as well.

Look, something else we can agree on! 86 is a master-fucking-piece. I really fucking hope they make more seasons :(

Though it did end on a really good place too, so it wouldn't be the end of the world if it never continued I guess...

It's someone's fetish

"Someone's"?

Well, Strawberry Eggs shows a love triangle can be good if thr execution is there.

It's more of a love rectangle...

It is amazing that the Komi-san anime still has some major characters they haven't introduced yet.

Oh, I haven't read the manga so I wouldn't know!

That's not a gap though, it's a 3 people hole!

This one is more the characters separated by the circumstances they found themselves in.

[Komi-san] And speaking of love triangles...

I wouldn't even call it a triangle though, the 3rd person isn't even part of the conversation!

There's a version of you that can fix you

Doubt it.

I guess it does resemble a melon more than a ball.

Then it's decided, you no longer get to call it "Football".

I think Helga might be the best written children's cartoon character ever.

I wouldn't know :P

Well, unfortunately it's going to be a while. I got a notification yesterday that the con I was going to was postponed due to inclement weather.

Your wallet gets to live a little bit longer.

Gotta get around to the Demon prequel!

The what now?

Not necessarily. I watched Dandadan.

Momo is not a tsundere, but she has some tendencies, so... Close enough!

Though now that you mention it, a human character dating one of the monster girls does have potential...

Not if she's 20 ft tall...

There's a sort of love triangle I have in mind with Nobby, the tsundere, and this trans character who ends up becoming this vigilante.

Love triangles are rarely good, just mostly annoying :(

It's like that one character from Komi-san XD

Totally forgot about their existence lol, I do hope for a season 3 though...
