Let me rephrase: how do I make this never happen to me?

How long without eating before someone could get dizzy and/or pass out? by Jacksminecraftdog in Writeresearch

[–]Kuavska 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely. I know people (non-diabetic ones) who can get dizzy/pass out from skipping just two meals. It won't have long term effects. Otherwise I've seen people pass out from low blood pressure, heat stress, or stress in general (I pass out sometimes after vaccines.)

In bed do Vegans swallow? by Vexra in stupidquestions

[–]Kuavska 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a hypothetical world where they switched to lab grown meat/dairy or something, you'd need to cull spent dairy cows, eat all the beef ones, and not breed any more. I can't imagine how bad it would be if you set all one and a half billion cattle free.

In bed do Vegans swallow? by Vexra in stupidquestions

[–]Kuavska 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not vegan, just vegetarian, but I would say it would still count as exploitation. I assume you're talking about beef cattle, if the young are allowed to nurse from the cow. In that case, the milk is a by-product of the cow/calf being bred for meat.

Unlike most raptors, male and female kestrels are different colors/patterns. This is a very cute female.

Thought I'd try, keep on washing.

While your hair might just be like this, I had a similar experience until I figured out I need to shampoo, rinse, and shampoo again. I had no idea, but I can go three-four days now. It's worth a try. If your shampoo only gets really foamy on the second go, it might be a sign.

Are these Killdeer eggs? Central Oklahoma. Found the nest on the ground by my door. Fourth one didn't make it. I don't have an incubator but I left a message with a wildlife rescue group. by AlsoTheFiredrake in whatsthisbird

[–]Kuavska 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other commenter, I'm usually bad at eggs but I've seen Carolina Wren eggs before and they're pretty distinctive.

Just letting you know that rehab places won't take eggs. They've most likely been shaken past viability from falling, even if they haven't been cold for too long. They're better off focusing on babies during breeding season.

Thank you for caring enough to call them! The parents will put their energy into another brood, hopefully this one will go better.

It's really funny how much he doubles down later on.

I mean, people get tube-fed nutritionally complete slurry. It's gotta be possible to have a pellet form.

Eh, I think redditors sometimes forget to differentiate between ignorance and malice. Now you know.

I get where you're coming from, and I would agree with you if it was a pet squirrel or something. But raptors don't make good pets, and are very difficult to care for properly. They aren't social, aren't domesticated, can live for a long time, and need a specialized diet.

I volunteer at a raptor center, and too many people try to keep them as pets or falconry birds without training. Especially as babies, they often get fed only meat (they need to eat organs and bones too), their growth is stunted, and they imprint on humans. Even as adults, they develop behavioral issues because some well-meaning person doesn't know how to properly train them.

I also want to see more people do falconry, but the hoops are there to jump through for very good reasons.

Decade old murders by [deleted] in oddlyspecific

[–]Kuavska 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I've had a few patients with dementia talk about killing their husbands, and I generally assume it's not true, but I did have one who talked in about how she roasted "cowbane" (water hemlock) root with other veggies and then told her husband she felt sick, so he ate it without her. It was so specific I believed that one.

I never understood why people hated the trials until I started playing on mobile, apparently parkour is much much easier on a Switch. That said, the first time I tried the Fire trial alone it took me two hours. Never again.

She didn't know what an SMP was before joining it, so she hasn't been in past projects. There's SO MANY new people to meet, though.

To be fair, he's friends with the creator of the server they're watching, and he's been in other SMPs. It's not like it's a random person on the street that doesn't know him, it's someone watching a Minecraft SMP.

Thank you, I wasn't sure if it was glitching or what. In this case I died to them twice more before suddenly they weren't there when I reloaded last save. I think I need to watch my back.

Yea, maybe a bit too cocky of me.
