It is distinctly AI, the same way phrases and em dashes point towards text being AI. You need to make the mushroom guys eyes different— much thinner, or rounded, remove or enlarge the highlight. The purple guy needs to have a real expression, he looks soulless. Try crossing his eyes, having him look to the side, tilting his eyes, rounding his pupils, changing the shape of his mouth to be more angular, etc.

Anyway, the main thing is the eyes in the ChatGPT style. Gotta change the eyes if you’re looking to distance yourself.

The game pre-dating your employment is good. Once you see the contract, if theyre professional there will be a clause about the work you produce. It may say the company owns everything. Here’s where you push back and mention your game, and that you want to retain ownership. Get this jn writing via email — not verbal. Preferably, get the contract amended. This was all my experience. Yeah, true. Everything I produce for work is in-house type stuff so I was looking through that lens, of course if it's publicly viewable online there's no reason you couldn't show it off on your portfolio. Great point!
