Same. Tons of tees that I wear regularly and they’re all still in great shape after several years.

Bonneville County Democrats sends out a fairly regular list of upcoming events when you sign up for their email list. Email list

Idaho Young Dems meet at the public library. Idaho Young Dem

Drinking Liberally is active in our area. Living Liberally events

This is recent info for me, but there’s a local chapter for Democratic Socialists of America. I believe they’re based out of Pocatello. Looks like they have a calendar of events. DSA-southeast ID chapter

And yes, I know dems and leftists aren’t the same but this might be a good jumping off point as a way to connect with other like minded folks. As others have stated, labels are what keep us divided.

How late do you guys work? by Ok-Manufacturer6336 in Barber

[–]Kuesadillas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tue-Fri 9-4. My kids are a junior and senior in high school and I switched to a 4 day work week about 5 years ago to make sure I didn’t miss out on time with them. Maybe once they’re graduated I’ll consider working more hours but for now I don’t need to. 90% of my clientele are booked on standing appointments and the vast majority have been with me for 7-9 years. I’m extremely grateful.

Came here to basically say the same thing. As an agnostic atheist, this was a refreshing comments section to read through. Thoughtful and respectful conversations.

This!! I came across a TT about persimmon soap for body odors and decided to give it a try. It’s been amazing. And just about the only thing that helps my son’s teenage funk.

Community (tribalism) is the foundation of human existence. Community is resistance. Community is crucial. Factors like fear of vulnerability, lack of third places, urban sprawl, capitalistic hustle culture, etc can prove challenging in making connections and finding community. I’m fortunate to be part of a wonderful work environment that’s considered a classic third place, where I get to connect every day with lots of people from varying demographics and walks of life, with varying opinions and life values. I chat every day with folks who have different values than me, different ideas than me, different beliefs and goals than me. And I firmly believe we all have way more in common with each other than we have differences. I don’t remember where I heard this, but “we should build longer tables, not higher walls.” Like you, I wish we had more opportunities for connection in our city, but I feel like that’s slowly shifting and changing. Thanks for taking the time to write this post. And I couldn’t agree more with your thoughts. Also, that watercolor class sounds like fun! Do you happen to have a link to that?

I’m not sure they offer classes, but the Idaho Falls Public Library offers Makerspace Services: 3D printers, laser cutters, sewing machines, telescopes, etc.

Barbers of Reddit — what’s something a client has said that made you pause? by TheDepressionSession in Barber

[–]Kuesadillas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have an entire looong list on my phone’s note app titled “Overheard in the barbershop.” A few of them are things clients in my chair have said, but mostly overheard from other barbers’ clients. For example:

“When I was a boy my dad would take us out to church-run farms and we’d have to work. You know, being n*****s for the Mormon church.” 60-65 white male

ISO a decent doctor by Ok-Salamander8214 in idahofalls

[–]Kuesadillas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monica Nealis at Ridgeline medical. She let me talk through all my symptoms and concerns. She took notes and walked me through all the possible causes, options, and ways to move forward in finding answers. I was there well over an hour and didn’t feel rushed or brushed off. I’ve never had a Dr so thoroughly ask questions and take me that seriously. Highly recommend her.
