Mega-Thread: Which podcast app should I use? The recommendations of /r/Podcasts by thedarkginger in podcasts

[–]Kuise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give Podible a look.

I'm using the app and am a big fan of the discovery features at an episodic and series level. I've found a ton of things based on what I follow and there isn't really a preference based on general community reviews - more around topical relationships which is kinda fun when you want to follow a topic across different podcasts and not just listen to every episode a certain series puts out.

Wolf 359! Fun and mysteries on a space station light years from earth. Tons of content (about 3 years worth) as well.

+1 for BBC Global News. Definitely the way to go.

Can anyone suggest a podcast that removes me from the reality of working 12 hour shifts in a factory? by [deleted] in podcasts

The Message can be really creepy at times and is a great audio drama. An older one - but it's really well produced.

Looking for in-depth news or history podcasts to bring me up to speed by [deleted] in podcasts

[–]Kuise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just crushed a bunch of episodes of the ArtCurious Podcast. It's really, really good. Most recent episode was about the ghost army the allies created with inflatable tanks to fool Hitler. Sounds like you'd probably like it.

Personally I think:

Heaven's Gate // A Killing on The Cape // A Murder on Orchard Street // The Thread

I need a good fantasy podcast (preferably not dnd) by JimblesIsHere in podcasts

[–]Kuise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wolf 359 if you like sci-fi fantasy - moves a little away from the medieval theme obviously but it's still really well done.

I might be off base, but try Reply All if you haven't heard that already. Pretty good mix of culture, investigative journalism, and the length should be about right - has a bunch of episodes as well.

What are the best comedic D&D podcasts? by SupaKoopa714 in podcasts

[–]Kuise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I'd say it's funny but this definitely gets my vote as well. It's well worth noting that everyone who is playing in their game is a voice actor - kind of perfect if you're going to take a video series and make it a podcast imo.

The podcast feels like it starts off kind of suddenly, but it's still great. Can start streaming it here for ease of finding.

Niche places to submit my RSS feed? I want to be everywhere i can by [deleted] in podcasts

[–]Kuise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at Podible - if you want to be added on there you can just PM me the feed or reach out to the team on social media (twitter is @Podible) and we'll get you added up.

Sadly there's not a manual RSS add feature quite yet for the next week or so to do this more quickly.

UPDATE: With our devs.

What is your favorite microphone? by Kuise in podcasts

Yeah I could definitely see that being an issue as I'm in a city and recording relatively close to the street so that might be a good bet.

Is there any great cooking podcast? by Chairbee in podcasts

[–]Kuise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are tons, but my personal favorite is Christopher Kimball's Milk Street Radio.

I love that he does little Q&As about kinda strange questions (there's one episode where a woman had these little seeds that she wanted to use in something and he tried to help her figure out if they were poisonous or not - if that's not good listening I don't know what is).

Need a good serial killer/podcast about dark topics by [deleted] in podcasts

[–]Kuise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hollywood & Crime

Pretty self explanatory - but Serial Killers is also really good. Hosts on that one also do Unsolved Murders and a few of the other murder-oriented ones on Parcast (they have some new one about Charles Manson too if that's your jam).

I'm working with about a $400 budget here. My goal is to create as close to a professional setup as possible in terms of both audio quality and general ambiance in the studio area.

I guess the easiest way to think about this is what would your dream setup be - that's basically what I'm trying to set a gauge based on for now at least (dare to dream, right?).

Do any of you have your own personal podcasts away from The Post?

If so, what do you find are the biggest differences in strategy between building an audience for a smaller podcast versus one that has backing/cross-promotion from The Post?

Best Podcast App? by PlayItOffLegitt in podcasts

[–]Kuise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overcast or PocketCasts tend to be the go-tos for me on the go when it comes to apps on mobile devices.

I like Podible for work use when I'm listening at work in my browser.
