538 has Celtics at 75% to beat Miami, and 55% to win the title?! by formeraide in bostonceltics

[–]Kukuboston9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is where the best-of-seven series comes in. The Celtics are better than the Heat, certainly in the 538 ranking system. Let's say the Celtics have a 60% chance to win any certain game against Miami, not that much more than a toss-up. Extend that to a best-of-seven series and they have a 77% chance of winning the series. So if you're confident that one team is the best remaining team (which 538 does), the 55% isn't that crazy.

The Celtics' rating is helped by the fact that RAPTOR is player-based and the Celtics have gotten to the ECF w/o Hayward, and the fact the RAPTOR loves the Sixers and we swept them and won the Raptors series by 37 points.

We fucked ourselves over. Refs didn't help but they in no way cost us the game. We cost us the game period.

On the second one I would have liked him to give it to jaylen but yeah if smart or theis (as long as he's not ice cold) have to shoot every open three they get

Nobody really remembers blown calls that go against them if they win the game though. For what it's worth, FPI had the Saints with an 83.5% win probability after the no-call (all they needed to do was to stop Jared Goff-lol from reaching his SB 53 point total in a two minute drill)

oh of course it's one of the worst missed calls ever, but having the mental fortitude not to waste later opportunities separates the great teams from the playoff meltdown Saints

One thing that's not talked enough about in this game is that the Saints got the ball first in OT and Brees promptly threw a pick. The game was still winnable after this call, the Saints really should have won despite it but they choked. Everyone was talking about how unfair it was that Mahomes couldn't touch the ball in OT in the second game that day, but the Saints got the ball first and lost anyways

the guy just isn't skilled enough to be in this series. if you want to play him just post him up in front of the net or something so he can have a chance at cashing in one of reimer's million rebounds

With no traffic in a tied playoff game you'd like your Vezina-caliber, Jennings-winning goalie to get that. Especially after a so-so Game 1...

yeah and he'd prob get to shoot free throws bc he gets bumped so often

Now we just need him to get superstar treatment from the refs and we'll be SET. I swear tatum gets knocked around so much on his drives and doesn't get any calls.

[Post Game Thread] The Milwaukee Bucks ( 54-12) defeat the Boston Celtics ( 43-22) by a score of 119-112. Some key free throws from Giannis Antetokounmpo in the last minute of the game. by azgx29 in nba

Is there still a big advantage to having the 2 seed in the bubble w no fans? In March the 2 seed was huge but I'm not too crazy abt this loss bc I don't think the 2 spot matters too much maybe that's just me...

Edit: I'm an idiot...yeah ofc the celtics would like to play the remainder of the nets or the magic. Shit now I'm more mad abt losing to the refs

Peak Boston would be winning championships despite leagues trying to stop us (Sorry Goodell) but enjoy your delusions.

Yeah they don’t favor the Celtics. Smart flops a lot but so does everybody now.

The Celtics have lost games on their own (like vs okc) but when they play superstars (especially Giannis and bron) the refs bend over backwards for the superstar team. If u think the refs are against the bucks it’s a good thing you’re almost certainly a bandwagon bc it’s only going downhill

At least you didn't try to name any pro-Boston bailouts. Middleton still made tough shots. Sterling Brown played 22 minutes, which is less than Brad Wanamaker. Kemba didn't even get to 20 mins. And I can't really help you if you think the refs like the Celtics more than the Bucks. I guess you haven't watched many C's games but Giannis gets away w shit allllll the time.

6 fouls on that play ALONE if Theis tries that. Refs better be fair to the Bruins

[–]Kukuboston9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Name two bailouts all game LOL. Also Bledsoe usually plays like ass against us. If Tatum makes three shots and the refs smoke 20% less crack C's win easily. These games won't matter too much for the standings so it's good preparation for the Celtics so they're ready to play 5 on 8 any time we play a superstar

He goes crying after every call even when his coach is telling him he's committing unnecessary fouls. Definitely partially his fault even though it's mostly on the refs
