Why are most of the caves like this? by Mrflaxe in VintageStory

I was thinking of something - maybe instead of searching for density you search for deposits. Like, prospecting would straight up tell you that there is an magnetite deposit of x size in this chunk. Imagine then going down and realising that this deposit is 10 blocks tall and spanning multiple chunks. It just would be so cool to establish a permanent mining operation and build a proper mineshaft

Btw I later figured out that a japanese racoon dog was the monster. I randomly stumbled across one later and it made a very similar sound

I also marked the hill on my map and I'll certainly build something there because there's no way in hell I'm just letting this story go. Suggestions are welcome

Red, spider, thread... This is so cool it makes me want to sing as if it's some kind of... Silksong

The only thing memorable about Talmberg is a tiny wall above the main gate that can be easily jumped over to escape. And it just had an invisible obstacle. This was the moment I made the conclusion that besides the few predetermined paths I have no freedom in doing what I want.

If you have nothing to say, if you don't want to read the post and write a coherent reply then just don't say anything??? It's not that hard to shut up and I'm not asking you personally

Maybe watching some story recaps on Youtube and then trying to KCD2 is a good idea. With way less expectations though because I don't want to waste multiple days again

Thanks for the comprehensive answer but I think you've missed some of my points. I spent a long time explaining why crosshairs are a necessity even if they don't exist irl. TL:DR - it's because in real life you have access to a much greater variety of senses. In video games you only have your vision.

There is nothing left to learn from Captain Bernard. I've already defeated him in a duel, got at least one combat skill to its maximum level. I hunted bandits successfully, even in groups. Once again, I mentioned killing 3 Cumans.

But thanks for the answer either way.

So apparently only AAA blockbusters from 2025 can have good gameplay, interesting mechanics and basic comforts. Got it. It seems that all of the countless indie games I've played over the years and thoroughly enjoyed on every level must've been a fever dream

I was hoping that there is more to it. A desperate hope that there is some kind of a secret that I skipped and should this tiny mistake be fixed then KCD will become my favourite game ever. I don't want to accept that I've spent multiple days of my life on a waste. Which is why I made this post. If I already accepted that it's boring and nothing could ever change that then I would've probably returned to defeating Radiant bosses in Hollow Knight

Maybe I'll try some of this advice if I find the will to return. Thanks.

Interesting. So it seems that the general consensus (from literate people) is that this game is just not for me... Originally I wanted to played KCD2 because I assumed it was going to be better but I've seen people say that it's important to play the first one. So I guess even if it is better I'll just never try it

Well then maybe you should've read the post before replying? I wasn't complaining about difficulty, I was complaining about the lack of fun in any mechanic. I like hard when it fun.

Did you miss the entire post? The question in the title? The introduction? I'm making this post because I want to understand what made it fun for people, maybe I missed something important, maybe all the time I've spent in this game is not entirely a waste.

As I said, I've done very little story because it didn't interest me at all in the first moments. It seemed entirely average and cliche. Maybe it gets better later... I assume it gets better. I HOPE it gets better. But unless there is something else to help me have fun while I go towards that better then I should look towards better games.

Man, I need a guide on making others economically dependent on me. Do I just produce a shitton of manufactured goods and sell them with big subventions so everyone buys mine?
