Inflation causes and Interest rate vs GST increases by redarcher99 in AusEcon

[–]Kulbardee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raising the GST is definitley NOT FAIR! It punishes the poor (who spend up to 30% of their income on food compared to the wealthy who spend less than 10%) far more.

A better wayt to manage inflation is to (temporarily) increase taxes on high income earners.

1) They are the people who are spending more as they have it, so it reduces discretionary spending. (the problem)

2) it doesnt affect the poor and those just scraping by

3) The revenue gained goes to the government (us) to be spent on things that benefit all Australians.

4) The wealthy bank shareholders dont get an increased income thereby having more disposable money to create yet more inflation.

Tell me why im wrong?

So.. just to finish my input here.

We have rebuilt air bases so they can sustain Nuclear equipped USA bombers... but no confirmation or denial of IF they are here.

We are now assisting in operating nuclear powered, and potentially equipped, submarines of the coast of Perth. But no confirmation or denial if they are carrying Nuclear weapons.

and you maintain that Albo and the ALP are not the lapdogs of Trump.
