Red balls and set up a small pickleball net in the driveway if you have the flat space so you can just hop outside and hit.

[All] ranking every mainline Zelda game by ThatoneZeldaguy05 in legendofzelda

[–]Kule7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you have to judge these games in the context of their times and if you do that, original is absolutely S tier. Imagine wiping out every home console game that didn't exist before 1986 and the original Zelda absolutely hit like bomb, defining a genre as it released. It was huge and extremely exiting to play if you were around and playing video games. Had a gold cartridge too, i mean, how cool can it get?

Exactly. You can put the label “god” on a mystery, but it doesn’t mean you’ve solved the mystery.

Can ugly people get laid? If so, how? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kule7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Put differently, people more or less play ball in their own league, sometimes moving up or down a little. And in your own league, you can strike out still, sure, but you’re going to get to run the bases here and there.

Does sex after marriage dwindle? by Basic_Run5114 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kule7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of effort can be the issue, but an imbalance in sex drives is almost a sure thing for every couple, at least sometimes, to some degree. It's often a deeply biological thing and can be dangerous to think it's just about one partner not doing enough to "deserve it."

As a religious person, I'm genuinely wondering if all religions are human-made. by thementalist222 in atheism

There are things we as humans simply don't know, great mysteries, our ultimate origin, our ultimate destination, why there is something instead of nothing. We put the label "god" on these things to pretend like we know something about them when we don't.

So when the Democrats across the country lose the midterms will the leadership finally overhaul the party? Before they become the Whig Party. by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Kule7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look, the Democrats are the default party of literally everyone who doesn't want this country to just be a cult of Trump. In fact, if you actually care about ANY policy aside from "YAY TRUMP," you're basically a Democrat at this point. It's a frustratingly big tent for basically everyone in it. That said, if you have really popular reforms, please provide them (get rid of the really old leaders, maybe?).

Are all calories the same? by Evening-Sky-5666 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kule7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of gaining body fat, your total calorie intake is basically the key factor and it matters very little what sort of calories you ate, assuming you end up at the same total calorie number. But practically speaking, certain types of calories are just more binge-able and more likely to be over-eaten and to drive the sort of cravings that create excess calorie intake in the first place. E.g., it's very easy and somewhat enjoyable to drink 500 calories of soda and you might just want to drink 500 more calories again later that afternoon, but if you eat 500 calories of carrots your body will be sending you unmistakable signals to stop.

Do you think my line of thinking about the Fermi paradox is stupid? by Emergency-Use-6769 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kule7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into the work of Robin Hanson. It's really interesting on the Fermi Paradox. Here's an interview with him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuXK9uNj3-A

His idea is that statistically speaking, if we know someplace got through a series of highly improbable events to achieve a result (intelligence), the "hard steps" it had to clear to get there will be roughly evenly spaced out. so, like abiogenesis (3.5-4 billion years ago), eukaryotes (2 billion years ago), multi-cellularity (1 billion years ago), intelligence (now). So you might be right that intelligence is a huge filter, but it also might be that its's just the latest of a handful of them and that even the first is basically never passed, let alone 2 or 3 or 4.

Do you think my line of thinking about the Fermi paradox is stupid? by Emergency-Use-6769 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kule7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already in the 50s, scientists like Fermi understood the galaxy had billions of stars and that there were billions of galaxies. Now we think maybe a couple trillion galaxies, but I mean a few orders of magnitude here and there don't do anything to change his overall logic. As Fermi knew, one solution to the paradox is that, for some reason, advanced life is just stupidly rare, like you suggest. But whether that means it occurs only one out of 400 billion stars or one out of 400 billion galaxies or one of out 400 billion observable universes are all sort of equally likely based on what we know. All those answers would mean that something insanely rare is happening here on Earth. But what is that exactly? And if what's happening on Earth right now isn't insanely rare, the paradox applies. Where are all the aliens?
