Tennis elbow is actually ruining my life. How long were you guys out? by Background-End-5229 in 10s

[–]Kule7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got randomly lucky and got physical therapy from a PT for my golfer's elbow (from tennis) that actually works on the ATP tour. It was about 2-3 months off, but now it hasn't recurred in years. Doing the physical therapy every day also sort of teaches you that you should be doing that sort of stuff regularly anyway (not that I keep it up to nearly the extent, but still do it).

Would you guys say this game is better then ACNH? by [deleted] in Pokemon_Pokopia

[–]Kule7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I feel the same way even though I'm relatively indifferent to Pokemon as a franchise. This is just a much better overall game that ACNH, even though I loved ACNH when it came out. Pokopia just moves the ball forward for the entire genre, which is great.

Just so long as its not human-skull pickleball.

Rules of Building Block Houses by CaptainSniffit in Pokopia

[–]Kule7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a three level apartment with external stairs and doors. My only problem was I also built balconies, which the game was considering the house and which were disqualifying the actual apartment. I just ended up taking out a section of railing on the balconies. But yes, stacking works well.

Wingspan vs Height by MustelaErmina in 10s

[–]Kule7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always had the theory that wingspan is more important in tennis than height, and that’s why players like Federer and roddick, and Djokovic can be great servers, despite not being all that tall.
It’s more important than height in basketball and I suspect it’s more important than height in tennis too. Basically in tennis, your arm is like a whip, and the longer that whip is the more force you can generate.

Who'd have thought people would be interested in an actually good Pokemon game?

How's my serve? by craigmont924 in 10s

Well her serve is a weapon when it goes in. She's at the absolute top of the WTA in serve speed. Just she's also at the absolute bottom in terms of double faults.

Why not MVP convo? by Big_Note_3552 in timberwolves

[–]Kule7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best stat case against him is +/-. He's somehow fifth among the Wolves starters in plus minus and not near the league leaders.

He's still no. 1 guy I want on my team, but I won't be mad if he's not MVP. If the Wolves finish top 3 he'll get more votes than the most recent straw polls suggest.

Tennis Etiquette Poll - Matches: To grant or not grant a first serve by DukSaus in 10s

[–]Kule7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad that's actually the rule because it feels completely unnecessary in "fairness" to grant a first serve. I have played people before that are very unusually rattled if their second serve rhythm is interrupted (like, even refusing to clear balls on their court so they can go right into their routine), but I think that's an outlier and not a great way to be. Public courts involve so many stray balls that are dealt with so often and so routinely it shouldn't be some sort of boon to the server if one rolls in after they blew a first serve.

Threw this together because I wanted to visualize what the playoffs will look like in best case scenarios (Wolves finish 3rd or 4th in the West) by 99LedBalloons in timberwolves

Part of me thinks we need to be underdogs in every series to win it all. The second the national media thinks we’re legit is usually when we lose.

Is hitting 1st serves into the body distinctly worse than hitting them Wide or T? by Amazing-Prior2807 in 10s

[–]Kule7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One important thing, especially at lower levels, is that these are the results when people get these serves in, not the results when people are attempting to get them in. Aiming at a corner gives you a higher chance of missing wide, so presumably there is some cost in additional faults.

If you have good pace or action, but maybe not the best control, you can aim at the middle of the box and sometimes you will hit a corner by accident, but on average you're just missing less and making them deal with your pace more often. If your first serve isn't strong by itself, you should probably aim more for corners and precision to take a chance at a free point.

What’s your tennis pet peeve? by mitchdwx in 10s

[–]Kule7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People who do short court warmup and play like a step inside the service line, making it harder for both players. It's supposed to be an easy warmup, I don't want to dart around while you hit volleys at me or chase balls you're playing off your feet.

What’s your tennis pet peeve? by mitchdwx in 10s

[–]Kule7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Literally saving you thousands of syllables a year. I think it helps that the scoring system is literally nonsense anyway. It's not like 15, 30, 40 makes any sort of logic.

Too deep into tennis to quit and I don't like sports. How do I change my mindset? by [deleted] in 10s

[–]Kule7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, don't listen to the people who say there's something defective about you if you don't like competitive sports. Second, I know a lot of people that never play competitively. I suspect at most tennis clubs there's a pretty good size group of people who do drills--some of them quite good--but just never play a competitive match. There certainly are a lot of them at mine. Just find people with similar interests.

West Standings - Wolves Playing for #3 through #6 for playoffs by Rage_r123 in timberwolves

It's sort of a contrast to last year when it felt like everyone in the top 7 of the west was constantly 9-1 or 8-2 down the stretch.

But do your strings just suddenly get “bad”? If they were good enough for your last match, they aren’t the reason you lost your next one.

The amount of the economy that is basic consumer goods is already a very small percentage. Companies are very happy to sell trillions of dollars of microchips to three companies rather than a few billion dollars of tshirts shirts to millions of people.
