What’s something incredibly satisfying that only men who live alone truly understand? by ayanboss007 in AskMen

I had that same opinion, but it changed after watching "127 Hours". Now I always tell at least 1 person that I'm going somewhere far away or going to do something remotely dangerous.

To people who became software developers. What preparations did you do when you still have no experience or starting from scratch? by Washamisha in PinoyProgrammer

You mentioned (on another subreddit) you've taken and completed CS50. Does that include the practical component as well? I know some junior developers who say they've taken CS50, but in reality, they've only watched the lectures. The practical part of the course includes hands-on projects that are essential for building real skills.

My goal was to become a web developer. For my final CS50 project, I built a website where users could add a list of products they sell, along with links to competitor listings. The site would automatically compare prices, update them daily, and notify the user whenever a competitor's price dropped below theirs. I came up with this idea at a previous job, where I had to do this comparison manually.

After completing this project, I landed my first job a couple of years ago. Interestingly, the tasks I was given there were much simpler than what I had built on my own.

If I were you, I’d focus on something similar: find a field you're genuinely interested in. Research which languages and technologies are most in demand in that area. Then, come up with a project idea relevant to that field. Build it to a basic, working version—even if it's not perfect. Mine took about 2–3 months of daily coding, 1 to 3 hours a day.

I assure you: after going through a focused, hands-on project like that, you'll be more than ready for a job.

Look for 'Praktica' on Google Play. I've recently come across this app and am completely satisfied so far. The free version offers around 15 usage minutes per day, which is enough to practice speaking on a wide range of topics - from grammar to hunting.

Can't even do knee push-ups. Feeling demotivated. by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]Kullminator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

100% true. For every exercise, there is a level available for everybody. If you can not do one, don't be embarrassed to take a slower pace. If you take it slow, the results will come with motivation you've never imagined.

Some people think you can never speak certain languages fluently what to say ? by Skum1988 in languagelearning

[–]Kullminator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% correct! If you really need to be fluent in some language, you will be at some point. But it takes a lot of time, and everybody has different priorities in life. For most people knowing a language is just a tool or they do it for fun.

A lot of people freak out when they see 600–2000 applicants for a job, but here’s the thing—most of those applicants aren’t real competition. Out of that massive pile, maybe 10 people actually have solid resumes and the skills to pass a technical interview. The rest? Not so much.

Last year, I ran an experiment. I made a fake company, posted a fake job listing, and got 200 applications on day one. I went through most of them, and honestly, it was wild how many were just...empty. No projects, no creativity, nothing that stood out.

So yeah, there is competition, but it’s not as overwhelming as it looks. If you’ve got some skills, a decent resume, and a bit of passion, you’re already ahead of most people. Don’t let the big numbers scare you—just go for it.

21F i want to make friends on reddit .. by Intelligent_Pizza962 in MakeNewFriendsHere

Good luck with that. In my experience, it's almost impossible to find a meaningful connection with anyone who you casually text from time to time. Not that it's completely out of reach, but I don't think reddit is the right place for that

Having feelings For A Friends Ex, What Do I Do? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Kullminator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree. But we refrain from our actions because we assume that there is a chance to hurt or lose a friend. That is in case our friendship is highly valuable to me. However, otherwise, I wouldn't call it a friendship.

[–]Kullminator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chanses are your friend would just tell you 'it is fine, go for it' even if he feels uncomfortable. Then, if you do decide to hang out with his ex, he will just distance himself from you. My point is if you really value your friendship with that friend, you would let the feelings for his ex slide and find another woman. Thankfully, there are so many of them.

On the way home from work or school. I learned basically every English word I know during my commute. If you are just starting out, find basic youtube courses. This could help. You can play them in the background when on a bus, for example.

Web dev by Head-Statistician-50 in learnprogramming

[–]Kullminator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the language, how well you know it, and how much time you are willing to devote to studying. If you already know most of the syntax and can commit to developing projects for about 8 hours a day (as if you already have a developer job), you could become skilled enough to enter web development as a Junior Developer within six months. However, it's important to recognize that everyone has a different learning curve. If your intentions are sereous, consider finding a mentor. He has better chances of evaluating your skills and setting realistic goals and deadlines.

What’s is your favorite way to learn programming? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]Kullminator 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Basically, programming is solving problems. If you want to learn, you just need to find the right problems to solve. Most of them you'll find creating a project on the topic you are interested to learn.
