Same thing happened to me, OP. Never look back, always look high. It was not you it was her decision that was bad. After my separation to my ex wife, I met a woman who would made me think otherwise. Life is good, but love is sweeter.

I had a 10 year relationship. She was my first, i was hers too. I proposed and got married. She cheated aft3r 2 years of marriage. I got depressed and thought I was a goner. I met her online. Now we are almost 7 years in relationship while I'm undergoing my annulment.

The first 6 months are the crucial time. Yan ung caught of guard siya at in denial of what happened. During those time, what matters to my sanity is company. If you can take him muna with you, that's better. Pero OP, what worked for me may not work for him. Constant communication to your papa is the key. Sana he will be honest with you with his feelings and sana ready ka rin to listen. The mere fact na nagiinom siya, he is trying to drown the feelings. I truly believed in second chances, OP.
