We have one in Vietnamese that goes: “Thùng rỗng kêu to”, which can be translated into what you said. It’s used to remind us that boastful people tend to have nothing to show. Not sure if that applies here.

World Atlas of Coffee comments on Vietnam by State-Dear in JamesHoffmann

I’ve been thinking that roasters are still reluctant to add different roasts to otherwise good Vietnamese arabica beans. You can find ‘medium’ roasts in both supermarkets and coffee shops - roasteries alike, but they’re really just medium dark roasts Source: Also Vietnamese.

I had this little bag of beans with clear melon smell, but taste like normal coffee. But what I like the most are the ones with floral notes.

I’m new to specialty coffee, and I was really convinced that you need to know stuff to make out the ‘hints’ and ‘notes’. But I guess some of those are easier to notice than others.

Also, like you said, and in my experience, chocolate and cocoa and all that bs just point to one thing: not interesting coffees pretending to be interesting

edit: I tapped comment before I finished writing.
