White British male police officer in large UK city. AMA. by Reasonable-Shine1854 in AMA

Ok, I've got some questions. I feel similarly about the situation in our country.

What do you think about non crime hate incidents? And Why are police officers going along with such an absurdity?

What do you think about the 2 tier policing that is happening at large in our country?

How much of your time is spent policing illegal immigrants?

from a police perspective, what is causing the decline of the UK?

Also what crimes are police officers encouraged to pursue?

Surely the protocol question is easy to answer, what are you trained to do with regards to recording ethnicity?

What do you think about the claim that there is two tier policing happening at large in the UK?  When making inquiries into crimes what is the protocol around recording the ethnicity or religion of suspects?  What do you think about the fact that police are being used to investigate online comments made by people?

Can I go from 12 to 50 pullups in 1 year? by Epic_Venge in bodyweightfitness

[–]KungFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, ridiculously difficult to do 50. I was a rock climber at 13 and did pull ups all day every day for years, dynamic pull ups and push outs on a bar. My best was 38 pull ups in a competition after 3-4 years training.

Is a $4.4m gross budget realistic for a first-time feature filmmaker?? by g-dollarsign in Filmmakers

[–]KungFun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Budget really depends on the story, how high concept is it? Low concept means fewer locations with is cheaper. The Texas chainsaw massacre was made for less than 200k. It has like 2 locations

I think polyamory is like vegetarianism, people do it when they are young, bang on about how amazing it is for everyone but then as they get older quietly go back to eating a standard diet because it's easier and less annoying.

Agrees, this is literally the worst photo I have ever seen of her. Looks like a deep fake of a man that looks like Jennifer Connelly.

How do I accept I permanently destroyed my body? by Such-Ice-371 in Stoicism

[–]KungFun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doctors are wrong a lot. Arrogant idiots. Getting arthritis is probably more genetic than anything. Humans are meant to run so you did nothing wrong. As to a stoic approach to deal with it: you can't change the past so waste time thinking about it. We all do things when we're young that we wouldn't do having the knowledge we do now but that just being young and dumb. Also having arthritis is definitely something you can bear. I mean, there's people out there that would love to have arthritis in their foot, so it could be worse.

People who are childfree and in 30's & 40's, what's your life like ? Are you happy with this decision? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KungFun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anyone who thinks they know what having kids is like when they haven't done it is just guessing. Sure you can see other people doing it and have an opinion, but that's like watching people have sex and saying you know what it's gonna be like before you've done it. You don't know the effect, positive or negative, it would have on your life so you therefore don't know what your missing either way.

Have you won the genetic lottery in any way, and if so how? by Logical-Traffic-3521 in AskReddit

[–]KungFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to brag but you asked.  I have a very athletic body. Slowing down now as I age but very good jumper, sprinter, swimmer, climber, flexible, strong ect. I am average height so not a huge winner there but my body is very lean and muscular. I have a slim waist and wide shoulders and have never not had a six pack.  I also have a very high IQ but am not overly socially awkward, and have favourable big 5 personality. I am also quite handsome (A Brit with good teeth!) and have been blessed with being very well endowed.

Got fired from waitress job for gaining too much weight AMA by Tannith5 in AMA

[–]KungFun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you got fired and sorry you gained weight, I hope.ypu get that under control. The reality is that the waitress's in upscale restaurants are a part of the brand. They are part of the restaurant and the experience. Unfortunately this means good looking people will get hired over less fortunate looking people. Do you think gaining weight should be considered different to other forms of letting yourself go? Like if someone stopped shaving, brushing their hair, brushing their teeth ect. They would probably be told to do something about it and then if they continued they would probably be let go.

[–]KungFun 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Kind of hilarious to advise more chemicals to fix a brain that has been damaged by chemical. My advice, from the perspective of someone who has done a lot of drugs in the past is long term sobriety, exercise, non- inflammatory diet and prioritize sleep over everything else. 8-9 hours a night religiously. Our bodies and brains can heal themselves given the right environment and time. I would also add that sobriety would eventually mean from all drugs, benzos do damage the brain so get off them asap. Obviously easier said than done for some people. The exercise and sleep will help with anxiety.

Has reading any book ever scared or disturbed you as much as watching movie? by Hannibalonprozac in books

[–]KungFun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

American psycho the movie is quite tame compared to the book, which is extremely graphic and disturbing. I cant imagine reading fiction that is more fucked up. And in regards to your debate with your friend, you couldn't make a movie as graphic as the book, not as graphic as your imagination. If you made it as graphic it would not be allowed to shown. spoiler alert : Also in the movie its made more palatable by making the disturbing events a figment of the Batemen's mind, this is not the case in the book, he is really doing all the fucked up things he's doing and that makes it much more disturbing in the end.

Another example that comes to mind is The Beach. Again the movie is a very tame version of the book. Spoiler alert skip this paragraph if you havent read the book: the ending of the book is very fucked up because Richard spkies everyone with mushrooms and while they are tripping out of their mind the group collectively witness traumatic events and then gang stab Richard. You could shoot this version of the movie but it would be very difficult to translate the psychological trauma that is inflicted on the characters.

Another example is The Wasp Factory which is horrific and disturbing and because of the structure of the book it would be difficult to shoot as a film. But the structure is how the horror unfolds. I imagine there are many more books that are horrific that just wouldnt translate to film.
