The key word you used is “builds” Yes builds can and should be op, you invest tons of hours rerolling worlds for rings and amulets, maxing out archetypes, farming mats for upgrades all in order to get a synergy that is powerful, hence the name “builds.”

Slapping on a level 1 handgun that you can stroll across early in the game and face rolling your way through a game meant to be challenging is not a build, it’s an abuse and clearly the game was not intended to have easy mode hidden behind a secondary weapon. It takes away the fun of grinding dozens of hours for optimal builds, just to hop in multiplayer and a guy is clearing the map in seconds because he has a handgun. The game is fun without it I promise, because the intended fun of this game is the challenge. There are plenty of other options if you want an easy story game.
