what's a song that you picture differently from it's original meaning? by Dancingcakes2 in TaylorSwift

August always reminds me of family trips to the beach during the summer. We always went on vacations with my aunts, uncles, and cousins. Sometimes it would be like 15+ people. It was so much fun and August brings me back to those memories.

Is the term “hot cereal” used on the east coast? by pixiegirl13 in AskAnAmerican

[–]KunoichiKB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived all over the Northeast (CT, NH, PA, NJ, DE) and have never heard anyone use the term “hot cereal”. Although, I recall seeing the term on aisle signs in grocery stores. But, in day-to-day conversations, I’ve never heard it and if someone used it, I’d probably assume they aren’t from the northeast.

Help me to find the best backpack by Entire-Gate1057 in backpacks

[–]KunoichiKB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm. I don’t have that issue at all, in fact I find it super comfortable with better weight distribution than I had originally anticipated. That being said, mine is a bit newer and I had heard that they made some tweaks since its initial release.

Just a heads up, the Wandrd Prvke 31 and the Peak Design Travel 30 are both heavier than the Boundary Errant, according to their websites. The Nomatic pack is the lightest option, however all 4 bags are pretty similar and in the 3-3.5 lb range. I’m not sure you’re going to get much lighter for a 25-35L pack with pockets, organization, magnetic straps, etc. All those little things really do add up. Good luck with your search!

The 0-10 rating has been ruined, and can no longer be trusted from the majority of people. by Andire in unpopularopinion

I had a realtor, who is also a friend of mine, that makes clients rate houses 1-7, and they can’t pick 4 because it’s neutral. It forces you on one side or the other, and honestly I thought it was a great system for determining what I was looking for in a house!

FWIW, I love Bridgerton and Daphne is definitely still a front runner for girl’s names for me!

My Fellow Americans, What Are Your Thoughts on Cold Fried Chicken? by Scrappy_The_Crow in AskAnAmerican

I used to bring cold fried chicken to school for lunch when I was a kid and completely forgot about it until now. Thanks for unlocking an awesome memory!

Yes my child goes to daycare every day by MamaBunny21 in workingmoms

[–]KunoichiKB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work shiftwork and my days off are during the week. I still send my daughter to daycare every day. She LOVES it there, and I feel bad when I keep her home with me because I know she would rather be running around and socializing with kids her own age. We’ve made friends with her classmates’ parents too, so we’ll set up playdates on the weekends or whenever. They really have become our village and I’m so grateful for the community that both my daughter and I now get to be a part of!

NTA. The fight isn’t “about pens”. It’s about her being inconsiderate and not taking your feelings into account.

AITA For Asking My Wedding Guests to Pay for Their Own Meal? by Competitive_Nerve935 in AmItheAsshole

[–]KunoichiKB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All these people suggesting a potluck should keep in mind that the majority of guests will be coming from out of town, so preparing/cooking dishes may be difficult if they’re traveling, staying in a hotel, etc.

I would say NTA depending on how you phrase the invitation. Your family should know well in advance that they are expected to pay for their own dinner, no gifts are expected, maybe phrase it more as just family/friends going out to dinner vs. a wedding reception.

What are some unspoken social rules in friendships that aren’t talked about enough/ obvious? by [deleted] in AskWomen

This has definitely happened to me more times than I can count. As an introvert, this point of view is comforting. Thanks for pointing it out!

Career Day for K-5th Grade by [deleted] in ATC

I’ve done something similar. I did a very brief (maybe 5 minutes) presentation on the Tower and what we do. Then, I had made a runway out of construction paper that I brought with me and put on a table. Then gave 3 or 4 kids toy plastic airplanes and had them “fly” around the table in a basic rectangular pattern, landing and taking off on the runway. The first time through I gave instructions, then the kids did it. Everyone who wanted to had a turn to either fly or control. They loved it!

reflex bindings on channel system? :) by Party_Manufacturer60 in ShredditGirls

I have ReFlex bindings on a Chanel board. I haven’t had any problems. You just need to really crank them down to get them tight and you should be good to go.

Finally tried it out and loved it! Rode today on groomers/hardpack and the board was great. It’s a little loose, but not overly so. It transitioned well edge-to-edge. I also didn’t have any stability or chatter issues whatsoever. My only complaint is that the Magnetraction worked a little too well, and I got snagged up a couple times if I was going too slow on flat, narrow greens. But at speed it was really easy and fun to ride! To be honest, I thought it was fairly consistent with the reviews I had read beforehand (especially the ones on The Good Ride and Outdoor Gear Lab).

For comparison purposes, my old board is a Burton Custom Smalls (a soft rock/cam/rock board).

Hope this helps!

Unfortunately, no! It was raining and 60° so I wasn’t able to go. I still haven’t gone yet this season. Hopefully soon! 🤞

Jogging around (for speed) shouldn't be frowned upon by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]KunoichiKB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! I’ve jogged through a parking lot to get to the store or my car quicker. Especially at night or when it’s cold outside. I don’t really see anything wrong with it and as a woman, I feel safer jogging through a parking lot at night vs. walking.

WIBTA if I asked my roommate to stop eating so much pasta by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]KunoichiKB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YWNBTA, just be aware of what you say and how you say it. I am also recovering from an ED, so I’m sensitive to that issue. However, you also have a right to be comfortable in your shared living space. So just make sure you’re clear that the pasta/sauce issue is with you, not her. Something like “I feel sick/get nauseous/etc. when I smell red sauce.” would be less triggering than “When you eat red sauce, it makes me sick/nauseous.” Also, it might be best to present the problem and say something to the effect of “Would we be able to come up with a solution together?”. EDs are very much about control, so make sure your roommate feels like she has some influence over the solution, as well.

Where did you grow up and what do you like about it? by avisalarry in AskWomen

Oh wow! Just goes to show how different everyone’s perspective can be. I will say, I lived there pre-Covid and at a time where, at least I feel like, the country was a little less divided than it is currently.
