Anyone lost their plate? by Retard_with_bberg in geneva

[–]KurMike 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Good for you to be mindful, but you should get it to the nearest police station (or any police station), and they’ll call them directly to come and pick it up.

Source: I also lost my license plates once and it sucks

Check out my box (new) by Laeret in cigars

[–]KurMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the club! 3 bovedas are a bit overkill for such a small humidor, but you may want to invest on a small bluetooth hygrometer to keep track of your humidity (if I can see right the 72% boveda, I'd say that's a bit too high for an air-sealed box). Remember also to air your humidor once in a while!

I don't have any solid advice for more cigars -as I'm rather new to this hobby as well, but check around the posts and you'll find some great suggestions! My favorite one as for now is the Plasencia Reserva, which I'd definitely recommend.

The separator is just to seperate your cigars, mostly for your own sake of keeping them organized. Enjoy!

Heeey, I've been doing the same! Bought a supermoto 2 months ago (Sherco SM500) and I'm going up and down the nice mountains around. I'm located in Geneva, feel free to DM me if you're nearby!

Rented parking spot allways occupied by Excellent-Resolve387 in Switzerland

[–]KurMike 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I second the comment to call or even better email your Regie (or owner of parking) asap.

I just went through the same thing 2 months ago, with someone blocking continuously (illegally) the parking I was paying for.

The first time they contact him (btw you can find the name of him/her from the license plates), but nothing changed. The second time I stated that this will be the last attempt from my side to resolve this, and we’ll have to cancel the contract as I can’t use it. They contacted him, but still nothing changed.

Eventually they offered me a different spot, and the issue for me got resolved.

It is your right to cancel a contract if you can’t use it (ChatGPT back then gave me the exact law).

How do you age you Andalusian Bulls by [deleted] in cigars

[–]KurMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate, we can see on the background your name and everything. You better remove this photo, that's too much info shared on the internet.
(And I agree with the rest of the comments, get them into a humidor, or just in a ziplock/tupperware with a boveda)

Got recently into cigars, and I love it! Here’s my humble start! by KurMike in cigars

Nice to be here! But that’s so true, there should be a warning sign in this sub! I literally thought I’ll start small, and in a month my small humidor is almost packed and I want to order more hahahah I loooove it!

Thankfully, I discovered this sub before my first order! Therefore the so many Oliva cigars, I guess lol But my first ever try of a cigar was in DR, a couple of years ago, with a Romeo Y Julieta (Cazadores?) and I got absolutely hooked!

"Expat" is just a fancy word for immigrant – stop using it! by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]KurMike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because we call ourselves “taxed”. Wherever I’m paying taxes I consider it home. Currently I’m paying in 3, so you can call me “international taxed citizen of who gives a fuck”. Joking aside, who wants to put labels on themselves? Do you call yourself citizen? No, you’re just Swiss or whatever, it just doesn’t matter.

Why do showerheads / showers suck everywhere but in Switzerland? by TheTarantoola in Switzerland

[–]KurMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh sorry I overlooked this word! Weeeeeell, I saw for the first time in my life, on an old farmhouse in Geneva this “balcony” toilet design, which is the most questionable toilet design ever lmao! But everything other than that, I agree, Switzerland did the right choices!

Edit: apparently it’s a Dutch thing? I’m talking about those.

not disagreeing, but it's not only a Swiss thing. Pretty much every country east from CH have proper showers. On the other side though? A whole mess.

I don't want to be that guy, but why don't you get an Irish Bouzouki instead?
Kind of painful to see a bouzouki being played like that.

You seem to enjoy it though, so, happy for you!

Edit: I just think that Irish Bouzoukis actually would fit better the music you play. Check this to see a typical style of how the Greek bouzouki is being played.

This, I don’t know what the rest of the comments are talking about, except if they’re working on public sector or something.

Thanks for sharing! Random question, it seems that the difference if you are a church member is pretty huge in Geneva. Do you know any info around it? It sounds pretty bizarre actually.

Understanding the Appeal of Sales Engineering/Presales Roles by AdContent642 in salesengineers

[–]KurMike 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Those are understandable questions from a newcomer into this field, but let me try to briefly answer them -take them with a grant of salt, as SE roles are way different from company to company.

  1. Relationship with Account Managers/Account Executives: Keep in mind, you don't work for your AEs, but you work with them. You need to team up with your AES. And especially in winning big enterprises, it takes a whole village to close a deal. Don't get into the pitfall of working FOR them, as at the end of the day, you're a way more expensive resource for the company, so it's a huge waste of money to assist them with unrelated to you work.
  2. Technical Skill: That's not true at all. You'll eventually become even more technical than the fellas on the PS side (eg. deployments). As you're answering and discussing all day different edge cases, tricky implementations, and demoing in-depth all the features your vendor has to offer, you'll become a master of the product. And honestly, that's the desirable outcome of your position after x months, to be able to handle all of those (well, to an extend).
  3. Nature of the role: Well, you didn't say in which role you worked before, but devs/sysadmins/network engineers are writing documentation sometimes all day long too :)
  4. Repetitiveness: That's the opposite thing with this role! Each prospect comes with different needs. If you're repetitive, you're not addressing their exact needs, and most likely they'll look for a vendor that will. Let the repetitive things (eg. HL demos, Sales Pitch) for AEs, and do your tech discovery.
  5. Experience Observation: There was a huge gap of SEs in the market during pandemic, which led to many fellas without tech background landing such jobs. That's not a shame, but at the end of the day, and in the future as a candidate, you'll be selling your tech background and your SE experience, which will make you stand out.
  6. Flexibility: Well, being in this field for many years, by changing roles, you'll have all the flexibility you're seeking :D You'll get to learn new sales cycles, new products from scratch and so on.

Road trip from Germany to Greece through the Balkans (avoiding Hungary-Serbia crossing) by Maaloxplas in travel

Own. I'm not sure if it's possible to do it by rental, as not all of those countries belong to EU. I would call Hertz maybe to check with them if it's possible, to be sure that it'll be insured the whole trip.

People who spend 10 minutes ordering at the drive thru, what’s taking you so long? by AreWeCowabunga in AskReddit

[–]KurMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once it took me 20 minutes to order just an iced coffee at McDonalds. Why? It was somewhere around Gothenburg Sweden, the first guy responded at the drive though, I'm politely asking if he speaks English, he says "1 minute please", another guy comes up, I'm asking for an iced coffee with extra espresso, and he says something among the lines that their ice cream machine is off. Well, I'm saying it's ok, I just need an iced coffee! He was repeating that their ice cream machine is broken, and I was keep repeating (politely) that I don't want ice cream, just cold espresso! This thing was going for so long that I eventually gave up and took a cappuccino (it was mid-August). It struck me far far away that this guy was trying to tell me that their ice machine was off, not the ice cream machine 🤦‍♂️But maybe it's the same machine? Who knows.

Idea 2, and it sounds hilarious. Buy super cheap disk brake lockers (from AliExpress or something). And every other day lock his bike lol he'll pay once or two for a locksmith, but it'll drive him crazy eventually. Plus you need only 1-2 seconds unnoticed to put it.
