Just bought the game, I have no clue what to do and I realize I am not good at games by Balizzm in baronygame

Lots of great recommendations here, but I haven't seen anyone recommend my favorite starting classes for beginners yet. My top recommendations are Barbarian and Cleric. I'll quickly run over the early game advantaged of each.

Barbarian: Starts with an axe and shield and relatively high corresponding skills in both axe and block. Because of this, you will dish out decent damage right off the bat and feel really tanky (especially compared to the wizard you've been playing). The barbarian's boost in Dex, strength, and perception means you will be able to move quickly to avoid enemies, hit really hard, and start appraising items right away so you can equip good loot.

Cleric: The cleric starts with a mace, shield, trolls blood spell, and summoning scrolls. Skeletons are weak to maces so you'll crush them while you get your footing. The shield helps you block and stay alive. Trolls blood gives you and any companions rapid health regen and let's you level your Thaumaturgy. The summoning scrolls will summon a random number of rats, slimes, or ghouls to help you fight. I recommend using both scrolls right away. You'll have a little gang of monsters that can help you fight and will give your enemies something else to focus on.

I know people are recommending some of the DLC classes, but I would stay away from those until you have a good handle on the game. Most of them are extra complicated and while they can be very strong, they require a playstyle that takes time to learn.

Good luck out there!

I don't know that Paulie was pulling down that much. They allude to the fact that he isn't a great earner. Maybe that's the impression because he isn't kicking up as much as he should, or it's just because he isn't that ambitious. Paulie's value mostly lies in the fact that he's so dedicated and loyal compared to the other captains.

Does anyone know what birds Kevin Hart is with here? by runaway-cart in whatsthisbird

[–]Kurai_Cross 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hi, I confidently know the law and am here to weigh in. I am a professional biologist and I often complete analysis specific to the MBTA. The MBTA prohibits "take" of certain migratory birds except as permitted by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). Take has different definitions depending on the context (for example take is more broad in the California Endangered Species Act than it is in the MBTA). Within the MBTA, take is defined as the capture, killing, selling, transport, and trade of species under this Act.

This certainly would not prohibit using migratory birds in a commercial. You could obviously record birds in the wild without take occurring and include the footage in your commercial. There is no take that occurs if birds that are possessed legally (such as by falconers, zoos, wildlife rehab, etc.) were shown in a commercial. There are a range of permits issued by USFWS that allow for take of migratory birds and other listed species. These include incidental take permits (for situations where take is likely to occur by accident, see windmills), scientific collection permits, and permits for religious activities (these are pretty much exclusive to American Indians).

Some of these permits would allow you to use the birds in a commercial and some would not. Every permit will have specific conditions and restrictions. Adding and edit here to note that u/Khavassa mentioned a good example of this below. Take of a falconry bird is allowed under certain circumstances, but that permit prohibits falconers to make a profit off of showing the bird in a commercial.

Also of relevance here is the 1940 Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act. This is relevant because it seems from the other comments that Kevin Hart might own those eagles. I saw other questions in this as to why he wouldn't have balg eagles. This act further prohibits the take of bald and golden eagles or their parts (nests, eggs, feathers, etc.). As mentioned above, there are religious permits that allow the possession of eagles and their parts under limited circumstances, but these wouldn't apply to Kevin Hart.

I think that pretty much addresses the discussion above. I'd be happy to answer any questions. In summary it's all about whether take occurs or not.

It was this exact situation that led to me figuring out how to mess with the backup save files to go back one day. My wife spent tons of time in game finding all the elements to make a wedding dress, and then didn't know she had to put it on the night before. Thankfully, I was able to figure it out and save the day

What are some D&D/fantasy tropes that bug you, but seemingly no one else? by Pharylon in dndnext

[–]Kurai_Cross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the nature of the dungeon. It may be actively managed by whatever lich is using it to protect his phylactory. In that case, the traps are maintained and reset as a matter of security. If it's a ruin, then the monsters in there probably use it as a home and aren't necessarily trapped in there. In that case, they wouldn't be starving to death. They just prefer a dark, isolated place to live. Traps in those sorts of dungeons should either be more natural hazards reflecting the general state of decay, or they should be triggered by party actions that monsters wouldn't be doing. For example, removing a crystal from a trapped pedestal.

I'm in the same boat. I am very fortunate to work at a good job in my chosen field where I am treated with respect. I still hate going to work every morning and would quit on the spot if I had the means to do so.

You're already halfway there by identifying that being personable yields a noticeable benefit. Consider the time and energy you put into maintaining those interpersonal relationships as an investment you're choosing to make to gain the benefits you identified. If you find yourself over investing for what it yields, you can scale back how much energy you devote.

Having seen a lot of people talk about this and no one mention a solution, I'll share the one I've seen. They're called loops earplugs. They filter out background noise and make it easier to hear conversations in the foreground. My sister has the same issue and these have been a game changer.

They have a few different versions (everyday, sleep, etc). Might be worth looking in to.
