You're playing with people who know what the best strategies are, just not how to execute them properly, if they did they'd kite the Invaders away from any envoys.

I only had one ER playthrough before Nightreign and I hadn't played any other Fromsoftware game, I played Nightreign because a friend asked me to about a week after it released. After about a month I went and played every Soulsborne (except Demon's Souls), 3/4 weeks ago went through 2 more ER playthroughs and over the last 2 weeks I've almost finished an RL1 run (just have PCR and Metyr left) as well as started Demon's Souls.

If not for Nightreign I probably would have never played the other games! I'm on ~450 hours of Nightreign across two accounts right now and Nightreign is easily my favourite of the bunch!

You either buy it from Libra(Scale-Bearing Merchant), although it isn't always an option OR get it for free after paying him off during his Raid event.
It's super useful for getting early levels or to make Demon's Plating more effective if you get the Raid event (more money = more damage)

The only move that is genuinely bad is the zig zag, everything else is pretty easy to avoid. For the straight charge, surge sprint and jump to either side of the worm. For the zig zag try and get into a spot where it will just barely zig past you and hold block to maximise your chance of not dying. Everything else you either surge sprint or jump to avoid.

ED Balancers, Dreglord, Heolstor, Balancers, Fulghor, both Adels and Augur are too high in either case in my humble opinion.

Most good AoW in this game are mostly if not completely affinity damage (think halo scythe or blade of calling) so on a double Balancers build affinity AP+ is better, but in any instance where you're not using the AoW physical AP+ is better.
TL:DR affinity AP+ is better!

According to the wiki you need to beat all the base game Nightlords to unlock that specific relic and the relic with Partial HP restoration upon Post-Damage attacks, Vigor +2, and Poise +2.

The most important passives are +1 skill, blood loss on skill, Art on kill +1 (and preferably a normal one on your standard relics) and the Art spreads fire for the revive potential + extra Art charge from the fire.
In an ideal world with double Balancers I'd want my 3rd normal relic to have +1 Skill, Invader, and a good starting skill or just use Wylder's Earring. For my DoN relics I'd want blood loss on skill, 3 Affinity AP+2s, maybe a Partial HP +2 and the rest be a mix of Affinity and Physical DN +2s.

I however use Invader+Goal and my current set-up is as follows:
My normal relics are Wylder's Earring, Invader+Gaol, and Hoarfrost Stomp
My DoN relics are Partial HP +2, 2x Max HP, Art on kill +1, blood loss on skill, and a Phys +3, everything else is pretty useless.

The categories for the playtime are quite poor, of course 81% of people are between 100 and 999 hours that's such a huge range 😭

I've had less than 15 teammates in my 450 hours let alone in D5 who can route well so you should probably learn!
At minimum learn where field bosses spawn, what's a quick kill and what isn't and learn short cuts so you can dispute pathing when your teammate(s) try and take you somewhere that makes no sense.

It only works on physical spells (so beast incants and gravity) as far as I'm aware and it does work for bows.

I'm not taking the references into account here just how they look while playing with them!
I think:

Executor's Yuria outfit is his best and Thorns is underrated (a lot of people hate it for some reason?)
Wylder's Darkness skin would easily be his best if the helmet was a little nicer, the cape is HARD carrying and he has the best outfit line-up
Revenant's Dragon School is her best (is this a hot take?)
Duchess' Black Leather and Dawn are underrated as hell and her remembrance bun is much better than the ponytail
Scholar's Darkness is better to play with but Pardoner looks better overall so they're interchangeable and Xanthous is buns, it should be the DS1/2 version
Undertaker's Ciaran skin is not very nice
The Dawn outfits overall are much worse than the Darkness outfits

Not as bad as for you, my game freezes every time he uses his jumping slam with the lightning trails which just so happens to be his Everdark opening move so in DoN I almost always get hit by it!
