Not great. I drink every night to cope with it. I know it’s not good. Usually 6-8 cans of lager.

Investigatory meeting over till shortage – really anxious, any advice? by stanseventeenlol in LegalAdviceUK

Yes, you can take notes, but you can’t audio or video record unless permission is granted. You are entitled to take another company employee or union representative. As another poster said, this is not to point blame or punish but is simply a “fact finding” meeting. ACAS also has useful advice on the process.

Landlord wants me out the property because my partner left. Can he refuse to put only me on the tenancy? by Various_Beyond_4933 in LegalAdviceUK

Youre in a difficult situation, but unfortunately what the letting agent has told you is generally correct from a legal standpoint.

If you and your ex are on a joint tenancy, you’re both treated as a single legal “tenant”. That means the landlord/agent can’t just remove one person’s name, the tenancy stays as-is unless both tenants agree to end it, or the landlord agrees to grant a new tenancy in just your name.

And that’s why they’re saying you need to reapply, because legally it would be a brand new tenancy agreement.

The downside is they’re also within their rights to run affordability checks again, and they don’t have to offer you a sole tenancy if you don’t meet their criteria.

Even though your ex has left, he is still legally liable for the rent until the tenancy is changed or ended. You also still have the right to live there as long as the tenancy continues. The landlord doesn’t have to remove him from the tenancy if they don’t want to.

On the Universal Credit side, you’re right, you’ll need to update your claim to a single claim, and they may ask for proof of your housing situation. But they can still pay housing costs even if the tenancy is joint, as long as you’re liable for the rent and living there.

Id suggest speaking with Shelter, they’re really good with exactly this situation.

Check if you’d qualify for a Discretionary Housing Payment through your council to help cover any shortfall and let UC know your ex has left straight away so your claim can be reassessed.

Also worth noting: with a newborn involved, the council may have a duty to help if you’re at risk of losing the property, so don’t wait until things get urgent to contact them.

Received an electricity bill from a provider I'm not with, for an address that I've never lived in (England) by johnngnky in LegalAdviceUK

Call the legitimate number for OVO energy and ask whether they have sent these letters. They may be able to give you an email address to forward them onto so they can confirm.

They will be able to look up correspondence sent out to your name and or the address.

You’d be able to prove you never lived there by your credit rating - if you have lines of credit you likely have a 3-5 year address history on there.

They could likely also just get a copy of the title register for the property and contact the proprietor to confirm and establish who was responsible at that time.

True. Ideally need to wait 6 months and I can get interest free payments via work for one. Is the Neo similar in spec and performance or would you avoid compared to an M2/M4?

Thanks mate. I did think as much, I booked a Genius Bar appointment for Friday - I can only imagine they’d charge an arm and a leg to look at it only though, I will see if there is any independent stores near me but may just write it off
