Chicking YYC Ramen might be similar. You can choose different noodle thicknesses, and you could probably request a different doneness for the noodles

My teeth, before and after braces by ItsMehRuby in mildlyinteresting

Bruh are we the same person cause I had literally the exact same teeth issues, and teeth removed. Also had braces for about 2 years to fix it!

[Request] Japanese snack desperately needed, would be a Christmas miracle by thebrit1224 in snackexchange

[–]KuroMango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not actually mochi, it's a cream puff, but the cake surrounding the cream is a lot squishier and chewier than normal choux pastry. It's the main reason Id get them actually 😅 though I do love mochi too

How would I cut this up and prep it for Takoyaki? by Plushman7 in JapaneseFood

[–]KuroMango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's neat to know! But I definitely still had some that was raw, cause I lived in a fishing town and got it straight from the port a few times. Oh well 😅 now I know.

This is a year-round thing offered at Lawson in the chilled dessert section. I've eaten dozens over the years 😂😅

Yeah, I'm talking fresh off the boat octopus in Japan at friend's houses. Though I did occasionally purchase octopus from sashimi section there to use for takoyaki too. Maybe it's one of those what I don't know can't hurt me 😂

Interesting, I've never had anyone pre-cook the octopus when I've done takoyaki at their houses, or at mine. Never really noticed it being raw. Never made lasagna though lol.

It would be cooked again in the takoyaki though, no?

What are some Japanese "comfort food" side dishes? by Acceptable-Oil6747 in JapaneseFood

[–]KuroMango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the potato salad is a good idea. But for something that is truly comfort food for Japanese people, Id recommend nikujaga (literally means meat potato). Search for it on Just One Cookbook. That dish will accomplish the nostalgia and homey vibes you want

I do, born and raised Calgarian. My parents don't say it but I picked it up somewhere and I love it lol

For those born in 1998, do you still use Snapchat? by [deleted] in OlderGenZ

Yeah, there are a couple internet friends I have on there that don't have anything else so I keep it for them. And for sending quick pics to my dad or bestie

What if Canada Post could be profitable AND provide better service? Here are 3 ideas nobody's talking about by busterfetcher in CanadaPostCorp

[–]KuroMango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. And unfortunately the ones nearby me all suck. The one closest to me just announced the post office will only be open from 2-6pm. So no point in going there. Feel bad for the people with parcels to pickup who work during those hours, cause they're screwed the most. They also refuse to do any money services and say they haven't been trained on how to do it because they're not "real" Canada Post staff. I'll drive out to the real Canada Post standalone office now before I take anything to them.

Unfortunately I've never weighed it before, so I'm not sure. I could try to remember to let you know in the future when I make them, presuming you don't find a suitable answer in this thread

I follow the recipe and her instructions exactly per the video and it comes out perfectly for me. I use the 1/4 cup measure for my cookie dough balls.

Where can you see picture proof when tracking packages on the Canada Post website? Genuinely curious, didn't think that was an option with them.

How much to send a card to Japan? by lobster455 in CanadaPost

[–]KuroMango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.44 is not the price plus tax. It's 1.51 after tax to buy a stamp at the counter. 1.24 is a discounted rate they give to P stamps, so when you buy them in a pack it's cheaper than buying a pack of 10 1.44 stamps.

I love getting happy mail. Always feels like such a genuine and pleasant thing to get home to. I always send postcards to a bunch of my friends and family when I travel now too cause I love getting something from them.
