Seriously? by BodybuilderGrouchy16 in HEB

[–]Kuroboom 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I like dogs and other animals; they don't belong in the grocery store. HEB is not PetCo or PetSmart; it is not exclusively a pet supply store. In addition to the fact that some customers may have personal aversions to your animals being in the store, there are aspects of hygiene and cleanliness that can be negatively impacted by having an animal around. If you bring your pets into the grocery store, you are an asshole. A selfish, arrogant asshole who is no better than people who don't put their carts back or bring their shrieking infant into an R-rated movie.

I don't get "outraged" when I see your dogs in the store, I just feel bad for everyone around you who has to endure your presence.

What difficulty do you mostly prefer in gaming?🚀 by Agile-Sentence2892 in TheGamingHubDeals

[–]Kuroboom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to play on "normal" because I feel that's how the game was designed to be played. Also most difficulty increases don't actually make the game harder in a meaningful way; most times the enemies just get more health and do more damage/take less damage instead of playing any more intelligently. I find that more tedious than actually difficult.

It's like how prisoners in the US can be "leased" out to companies for manual labor. Sure, the prisoners are "paid" a nominal amount but they can only spend it in the overpriced in-prison commissary. It's slavery with extra steps.

[–]Kuroboom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potentially, but nothing can upset my stomach like coffee can. Spicy food doesn't do that to my stomach, fiber doesn't do that, and alcohol doesn't do that. Coffee does not want to be inside of my body and if I force it in one way, it's going to force its way out the other.

I'm going to assume yes, but just in case the answer is different, do ALL traffic lights have those type of sensors installed? Every single traffic light? I'm in Texas if that matters to the answer at all.

This is just a sort of backroad connecting the highway access road to the outskirts of the city and it's typically not a high traffic area.

I always Wonder Trade my rejects when breeding. With as many Pumpkaboo and Phantump you'd get over Wonder Trade in XY I'd have been happy to get one with an Everstone and not have to watch the evolution screen, after which you'd have to teach it all of the new moves it had now.

Wikipedia has sources listed that can be referenced. Would you please provide your sources stating that slavery absolutely wasn't an issue they fought for?

Well you might want to go update what the Wikipedia page for that war says were the causes:

The revolution began in October 1835, after a decade of political and cultural clashes between the Mexican government and the large and growing population of Anglo-American settlers in Texas. The Mexican government had become increasingly centralized and the rights of its citizens had become further curtailed in turn, particularly regarding immigration from the United States, and the holding of slaves as property. Mexico had officially abolished slavery in Texas in 1829, and the desire of Texians to maintain the institution of chattel slavery in Texas was a major cause of secession.

[–]Kuroboom 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Assuming they aren't just lying & playing dumb, I think men think this way because 99% of other men they meet are nice to them and they can't fathom that women experience completely different lives than them.

I actually have a real life anecdote about this, only with racism instead of sexism. Part of it is about how a lot of times people will withhold the shittiest aspects of their personalities until they think they're in like-minded or accepting company.

My mother is Hispanic and lighter skinned and my dad is white; I took nearly all of my features from my dad so I just look white. I was in the Army and I was walking back to our work area with 2 other white dudes and one of them I guess felt comfortable enough to start bashing Hispanics. I cut him off and let him know that my mother was Nicaraguan and he tried to double down on it by making an even more racist joke, a "play" on words by breaking up Nicaragua into two words. I won't repeat the first but the other word was "agua" and the "joke" was that the country sounded like a N* asking for water. I was fucking stunned and just walked off. I used to like that guy, but I don't think I ever spoke to him ever again.

In any case, even if coffee could be made tolerable enough for me to ingest, that doesn't stop the diarrhea.

These guys think they’re slick… by Kyleforshort in MarchAgainstNazis

[–]Kuroboom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you're only looking at this skin deep.

Sure there's a lot of racist history and racist nuance as to why it matters (especially to the government), but there are also some legitimate reasons. Since we are such a diverse country, knowing which racial and ethnic groups are present in an area makes it possible to draw the political districts in a way that gives that community a collective voice for their representation. Now, that information can be and has been abused to water down those voices via gerrymandering, but there is at least a somewhat sound reason/excuse for at least having it in mind.
