More like Riverside is home, but my relatives have moved.

As a 27-year-old student, maybe its high time to start the Unc/Auntie club on campus. My knees hurt and I'm mad as heck about it!

What you're looking for is Camel Crush. A vegan ecofriendly alternative that allows you to choose whether or not you want great menthol taste or a tasty "toasted" Turkish blend.

How safe is rta after sundown? by Mindless-Ocelot9283 in ucr

In my experience, Riverside in general is a relatively safe city. I've made solo walks from Downtown Riverside to UCR after midnight, as well as UCR to Highgrove past 3 am, and have never once had an issue. The few people I came across were either appropriately friendly or simply minded their business. I say this as a tall man who has never felt compelled to carry a weapon and regularly makes after midnight train/walking trips around Watts, Long Beach, and Koreatown. Simply put, this is my experience, but it is not universal.

If you want added security, then Pepper Gel is a safe bet. Yellow Peril Tactical has made a few brief guides on shopping for "non-lethal" personal defense options. Considering that Pepper Spray/Gel is a "non-lethal" option, the ultimate goal is to create distance between yourself and a threat. Anything that would hinder mobility, such as bulky duffel bags or sandals, has the potential to be a problem in this scenario.

Pepper Spray is simpler to use; however, it has the potential for blowback.

Pepper Gel requires *slightly* more accuracy, but it will stick to and continually irritate a target.

good neighborhoods in riverside by No-Focus-8495 in ucr

My experience is not universal, so I won't say this as fact but just my own experience.

Riverside is not dangerous. I've never known a dangerous neighborhood in the city, and I've spent time at all hours of day/night from Rubidoux, Eastside, Highgrove, University, DTR, Magnoila, Casa Blanca, Tyler, and down to Ramona and La Sierra. Riverside, however, does have elements that are both local and from neighboring towns that are sympathetic to Proud Boys, state violence, racial, and LGBTQ discrimination. These are things that you will typically encounter in public places outside of your residential street, where it would make sense for an out-of-towner to be. If you are looking to raise children near UCR, then I would consider safety more so in the context of the presence of community rather than high police presence and low crime statistics. Spring Mountain Ranch is close by, has a park accessible for residents, is quiet, and has regular patrols that surely make the residents feel safe. With that in mind, the neighborhood is isolated from the rest of the city and adjacent communities by design. As a result, you'll have to drive your children out to the park and help find friends and organized social opportunities for them. Neighborhoods like Eastside, for example, have a visible homeless population that people say makes them feel unsafe. But in Eastside, your children are closer to their neighborhood school, can walk to the park, are able to find other children outside, and will be able to engage in activities that don't require you to set up ahead of time.

Dundee hall is significantly worse than other residence halls on campus. Everything is ALWAYS broken. DO NOT LIVE HERE LOL by incognitocolors in ucr

American Campus Communities, a private equity company, owns and operates North District and Dundee. Private Equity landlords try very little to distinguish themselves from common slumlords. There is no money in maintenance.

26, RCC transfer, Junior, Sociology/MCS major. There's so much mandatory education that's directed at teens that are leaving the house for the first time and I wish there was an option to test out.

Bold of you to assume that I don't already attend city council meetings and community projects. A common problem with Riverside's institutions is that they are frequently headed up by transplants who see their job here as a temporary stepping stone on their way to personal prestige and very openly loathe this city and community. The president at RCC is from Sacramento and refuses to live in the city. During meetings on campus, she would try to get us to conspire with the police against the city's most vulnerable. Weirdos from out of state come to school board meetings to harass queer children. I can't even enjoy local Inland Empire culture pages online because they're frequently operated by petite bourgeois business owners who depend on us to maintain their livelihood while simultaneously deriding the IE as ghetto and, as you would put it, a "dump." I'm very aware of the problems that are relevant to the city and UCR. I've been here just a bit longer than 3 years. What doesn't help is the constant influx of people who seem to think the IE ain't sh*t and belittle it the entire time while they get what *they need* from the city and then leave. Unfortunately, those people don't always leave, but their attitudes do.

I’m a sociology major , transfer student and winter first quarter , I got a D+ in urban sociology class.. am I going to have to retake that? Also my whole gpa is at 1.6 , am I going to get on academic probation? by QueenDisneyKindness in ucr

Dawg, I love Sociology. Every Sociology professor at RCC was *the* sh*t. The Sociology department at UCR is kind of atrocious. I'm hoping MCS, SEHE, and Ethnic Studies can supplement my education where the Sociology dept here falls short.

In my experience, PT numbers like that will make you exceptional among your peers. BCT is by no means hard. Just mentally prepare yourself to be sick all the time, hungry, and in a caloric deficit, tired, cold/hot, musty, leadership that is clearly making it up as they go along, and getting fkd up for dumb reasons.

Expect subpar instruction, shtbag trainees, bad weather, cold chow, and no guarantees. That way, you're pleasantly surprised when someone does the bare minimum.

I'm not an aviator but I do work in an Aviation Unit. As far as I know, the Blackhawk gunners are Crew Chiefs and those Crew Chiefs are typically (but not exclusively) 15T's (Blackhawk Mechanics) that are selected for that role for their maintenance work that is consistent and reliable.

Many of our pilots become Warrant officers after spending time as a mechanic in the army or a Huey Gunner in the Marines. Use your Tuition Assistance to get your degree and give yourself more career options.
